Ok people out there... Bare with me cause I am new at this discussion Phenomena. I wanted to get off my chest some issues I am having with the Twilight world. First I want to give the credit that the Saga Deserves... I was never a "Book Reader" before The Twilight Saga came about. So for a book to turn me into a novel reader was a great deed in itself. I absolutely loved the movies. And didn't want to read the books. Never thought I had to. I thought "How much better can a bunch of books be?" Well Thanks to a cousin of mine I broke down and read the books. All I can say is OMGosh. Excellent Excellent series. The Movies really are crap compared to the books. So there is me giving credit where credit deserves. My problem is not with the saga as much as it with it's author. The propaganda over this saga is unbelievable, but I don't think the fans are really getting what they deserve. Especially the ones that create these websites, and forum sites, and ect for the series and author. How long have people been waiting for this so called "Midnight Sun". But still it seems from what I read that it is still up in the air whether this book will be finished. Really??? The Author can't even show her fans the same level dedication that her fans show her??? Really??? Fans have to wait how long before the First part of the Last movie comes out. To me that is the author and her people trying to drag this out as long as possible for as much money as possible. But it can very easily bite them in the a$$. The hype won't last. But the author is probably holding out for reason's as such. This is not an author who is constantly pushing out book after book. I am not trying to rant but it just seems to me that this author is not as fan friendly as some other ones that I will like giving a shout out to at the bottom of this blog. And actually I have seen a lot of questions about The Twilight Saga Vs. True Blood. PEOPLE please don't get it twisted. Stephanie Meyers was probably dreaming of her series when The Sookie Stackhouse novels were well into the 3rd or 4th book. So when people talk about similarities; know that it would be from Charlaine Harris. The Sookie Stackhouse Novels shouldn't even be compared to the Twilight Saga series. Even though I love the Twilight Saga, it is nothing like the Sookie Stackhouse Series. I am gonna have to venture to say that I am giving my Book Loyalty to Charlaine Harris. She is Definitely More Loyal to her fans. Stephanie Meyers can't even have her own Website. Her brother passes messages due to her "Hectic" schedule. Really??? Fans still waiting for another descent book. It has been a couple of years since Breaking Dawn. The Bree tanner story was pitiful attempt to satisfy the Stephanie Meyer fans. Sorry to many negative reports on that one. Just wondering everyone Else's take on this issue.

Some other great books before Twilight are... Vampire Diaries, And the Sookie Stackhouse Series.

Again I know it seems like I am dissing Twilight, I am really not. I am just fed up with the lack of loyalty to us fans!

As much as I'd LOVE to see Midnight Sun finished and published, I have to RESPECT the author on this, it's an art form and sometimes you can't rush art. As an artist myself (painter) I totally understand. Regarding the WAIT for Breaking Dawn, no matter how much influence Stephenie has on the filming, THEY HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED FILMING YET!!!! So I don't think that next November is that far out of line. There will be a lot of work to film both films at the same time, and editing will be a nightmare.
@Liz... I can totally get down with "RESPECTING" the author if it one of those things where they were actually making an effort to give a little loyalty back. But I don't get that from her. I really like Charlaine Harris, and L.J. Smith. Atleast we get some more good material. And as for the Movie not being filmed yet... It is said in Multiple interviews that Breaking Dawn has already started as of last year for filming. I think things are being done in a way to try to draw more money out rather then be good to the fans. And FYI... Legally when and Author sales their rights for Movie trade they still keep a big chunk of the rights.
I really do see you point but books are incredibly hard to write. For example I've been working on a book for five years now and am only on the 13th chapter. I mean it is difficult to make the story feel like it is right and shows exactly how you see it in your mind. As for Midnight sun the reason why it is taking so long is because some disrespectful fan leaked it to the internet before it was even really started. A writer never like's it when someone reads the work before its finished, to a writer its like peeking on a masterpiece when it is still clay and water get it. But yes I do see your point she should respect the fans and make attempt.
Lisa,

I think you've been misinformed about Breaking Dawn. The following link shows that the movie doesn't start filming until November 1st, 2010. http://www.thebreakingdawnmovie.org/2010/08/friday-august-13-2010-b...
Midnight sun was never meant to be read by the public, it was leaked, and nwo people are trying to force her to get it done, it just doesn't work that way, also yeah BD has NOT started filming yet, and summet has more to do with the release than SM, also lokk at it this way, twilight came out at the movies when november or december of '08, then new moon in noc of '09, see the trend one movie a year, we were lucky eclipse didnt get held untill nov of '10 sure it made a bigger gap betweeb films for us but we got it early, I say, go ahead get pissed at SM, you don't have to read her stuff, as far as site managers, why don't you as alison or any other web manager/creater, see if they feel slighted in any way, I love that we are getting 2 movies for BD and not just one with a ton left out, I know you said you're not dissing twilight just SM, with out her there would be no twilight, and as you know us twihards are very passionate so I'm sure you ma get some very passionate responces, I'm not trying to be rude to you or diss you and by all means you have every right to feel how ever you want to feel, but you did put it out there and asked for our opinions
@Scarlett... I am happy to see you are a true twifan. It really is adorable how loyal you are. :) But again I will stick to my opinion and say loyalties are not returned by SM the way they are with other great vampire stories yelling authors. Did she do a fantastic job with these books? ABSOLUTLEY! Is she soaking this up alittle to much without giving back a little in my opinion? Yes again. But no matter what... at the end of the day I would recommend these books. They are defintaly 3rd on my list. But anyway if you ever get around to reading some EXCELLENT vampire books, try to read the "Sookie Stackhouse" novels. Also about MS, yes everyone know's it was leaked... it's been how many years already. Do it or don't. Does it take time to write? DING DING DING yes again, but 3/4 of the book were basically outlined already. Anyway I hope for all you twi hard fans it will be done soon for you all. I would actually to enjoy reading it!
THANK YOU!!!! finally someone steps up and points this out!!! My sister is an english lit. major and enjoys writting short stories for fun. I was alot like the person who posted this orignal comment, i NEVER read for enjoyment., but read all 4 books in about a month (would have been much shorter but i forced myself to extend breaking dawn). needless to say when i finsihed the last book, i was going through what i call "twilight withdrawls" and suggested to my sister that she write another twilight book for me,b ut from edwards perspective. well you can imagine my rediculous excitment when i found out stephanie was working on a book with the same exact idea! however, i became extremely dissapointed when my sister told me that stephanie no longer planned on release this book because a few chapters had been leaked. my sister then discribed her reaction to it as VERY selfish! because she felt saddened/betrayed (which i understand) she was going to take it out on her fans. and not to put down any other fans of any other book, but how many other fans are as DEDICATED as we are?? heck, we even watch and "obssess" over the twilight movies, even though they are a huge piece of sh*t in comparison... but we love the book... thus we love ANYTHING twilight related!... now THAT is didcation!! and i agree that her fans are not getting anywhere NEAR the dedication back that we give her!
my sister also recently told me how another dedicated fan wrote to stephanie expalining their love of her books and was asking for somemore, and made a few suggestions on what could be in the next book, such as a little bit more of an explaination on a few things that were left "untied" at the end. i can only speak for myself, but i knwo that was one of the biggest things i loved about the books... was the explanation of EVERYTHING!, so i was very happy this person put that in their letter. however, Stephanies brother replied saying do not write such things to stephanie for critisism hurts her feelings and isnt nice to do (i am paraphrasing here). another fan (or possibly even the same one) was reemed by the brother because they asked how the sex sceen took place.. whcih is a question i was praying would be answered by the time the book was over. if they have no blood cirulation... how can they have an erection to have sex. stephanie could have expalined that in a very... "tounge in cheek" manner.. such as the scene where edward asks if bella is a virgin or when bella rips her shirt off demanding sex!! however, the brother told this fan that it was sick that they were seeking such answers! this realy discourages me, because if i feel i cannot make simple suggestions or anythng along those lines to an author who litterally changed a part of my life, then what is the point of being so deidiated and showing my love to her writting, lord knows i can worship in private ;) lol

oh, about midnight sun. i recently heard an audio clip about it from stephanie. she expalined that she is working on it, but slowly. she said shes burnt out on vampires and wants to write when she is more passionate about the story again, which i understand, respect, and APPRECIATE !! i personally feel there were times in the book where you can just tell she was getting bored with it (or perhpahs that was just in what i have read of midnight sun), and id rather wait 10 years for a great twilight book, then get a shitty one in the next few years.
