See, it was said in the book that, when someone changes in vampire, all the blood of the person will convert into venom & if you are injured then venom will heal you.
When one gets their period, the uterus is slightly injured(the walls are discharged with the blood, which are supposed to help to implant the embryo), so if you are changing during you periods then it will be all healed & there will be no blood left behind, which is very much required for the next cycle.
