Is everyone else as disappointed as I am with the ending of Breaking Dawn???
Ok, so I love everything else about the Twilight series but I'm really disappointed with Breaking Dawn. Just to name a few things - the end scene is a total anti-climax, I mean I for one wanted a big showdown with the Volturi.. and it's this huge build up then NOTHING. They just leave and walk away. Also Bella and Edward just seem... different. Maybe its Reneesmee.. I really don't like her. I think part of it is because by Bella having her she put Edward through so much pain. It's just disappointing after 3 fantastic books the way Breaking Dawn wraps everything up so quickly too.. I dont think its up to the same standards as the rest of the books. Stephanie was definitely over it and wanted to get on with her other writing by the feel of it.

You see I find that odd as I think Breaking Dawn is my fave book of the series - I feel like everything ends up just as it should be - they can all finally relax and concentrate on loving each other and having a happy life - I think the way it ends is perfect

Breaking Dawn was a disappointment for me in general. I got the impression that SM was done with the Twilight series (as far as what she wanted to do) after Eclipse, but had committed to the fourth book. It seemed very goal-oriented, going from point A to point B to tie up all the loose ends. But in the process she creates these incredibly interesting characters with which she does nothing. The book could have easily have been two or three books.
I also grew very weary of the whole Reneseme thing. It's like a new mother and her going on and on and on and on about her first kid. But SM kind of did that with all of the characters as the books progressed. In Twilight the characters were so interseting, fully developed, and had flaws. As the books progressed, they became almost cartoons--always perfect, always unbelievably awesome or unbelievably heinous.
The other thing that was uncomfortable for me as the books wore on, and especially in BD, is the whole martyr complex of Bella, and how for the majority of BD the wonderful Edward character is reduced to worshipping Bella's martyrdom and then Reneseme.

LOL--that's what bothered me about BD...the whole trite "And they lived happily ever after" ending.
What I loved about Twilight is that it takes a totally unreal situation and, through the development of the characters, makes it astoundingly real. These characters are very 3-D, flaws and all. As the books progressed, they went from riveting stories and characters to a fairy tale, where the main female character is a princess or something like that, and is perfect in every way. The main male character is a prince who is perfect in every way, including rescuing the princess.
I've read Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. They were fine when I was 7, but as an adult--they are fairy tales.

I was kinda dissapointed. I think she should of had one of the cullens lash out and attack. I think for a surprise ending we should have lost one of the cullens.I now it doesnt sound great but its better than the one she wrote. Also I think that edward and bella seemed different because they were to focused on fear and saving renesmee to focus on each other. and in the end well you have to give them a break. I mean they kinda had a rough couple years and its a shock that is actually over.

I was disappointed but not in the same way.. I mean I loved the whole book it is just I wish that some things were clarified .... we never find out what happens to Leah's story... or the wolf pack themselves..
I was expecting a little bit more when it came to the big battle between the volturi and the others... I mean.. I expected somone like Jane to flip a b**** and attack someone BIG TIME.. ya know?
This makes me wonder if Stephenie would ever consider writing one more book.

I have expected more... I think Reneesmee is...weird. Edward was skidded in the backround because of her. After her changing, Bella wasn't the same person as before.
And I miss the feelings in the wedding scene....

Ohhh, great idea! Reneseme was supposed to be rescued by Jacob, but something nonfatal happens to him, they get separated, and the Amazons rescue her and take her to Amazonia where, this incredibly beautiful, pale, red-haired child learns the ways of the jungle...

Good point...I would have loved to find out what direction Leah actually takes. She's such an interesting, captivating character.

I cant understand why so many of you are dissapointed with Breaking Dawn?? For me the ending is perfect!! I know why you might feel that the ending was supposed to be more exciting,'cause right through the series you on the "edge of your seat".
But the ending both Edward & Bella got everything they wanted. They have each other,Edward dont have to worry about hurting/killing Bella. They have Reneesme..Jacob is off Bella's case. And most of all,right at the end,Edward gets what he wanted the whole time,& and thats to hear Bellas thoughts. What more do you want?? Its the perfect .."And they happily lived ever after"

I just think that there are some additional things that need to be addressed. I like the happily ever after, don't get me wrong. I wanted them to get that. However, I feel like there is so much more that she can expand on. She could tell more of the story about Edward and Bella after her transformation. There is a new dynamic to their relationship now. She isn't so fragile anymore. She is going to be seeing things through new eyes now. They are also parents. I'd love to know how things turn out with that. Plus, Jacob finally imprinted and is no longer alone feeling sad about Bella. What happens with him and Renesmee is also of interest. There is just so much that was left open. I guess we can imagine our own stories for how things would go, but I think it would be great for SM to write another. I'd buy it and I'm sure most of you would too! LOL! For now though, I guess I'll just have to settle for Fanfiction!
