New Moon Soundtrack - give your suggestions, reasons and parts where the songs fit better in the story.
I know there is a post about possible songs for the New Moon Soundtrack.
What I intend with this post is not only song suggestions but also reasons you have to choose that song for the New Moon movie. You can also say in which parts of the story that songs would fit better.
For example (my suggestions):
- The song "NEED" by Hana Pestle
- reasons: the lyrics are just insane! And they look like they've been made for the movie, as we can see in this examples: "I'm not quite sure how to breathe without you here I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to say goodbye to all we were"; "My hand searches for your hand In a dark room I can't find you Help me Are you looking for me?".
- parts in the story where this song fits: there is a lot of discussion around this topic but my personal opinion is that this song best fits in the months when Bella is in the 'zombie' mood and she tries to reach for Edward, despite forbidding herself to think about him ("Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget"). I think that the lyrics and the melody of the song really can show which feelings Bella has during those months.
- The song "I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LEAVE YOUR HEART WITH ME" by Rita Guerra (a portuguese singer)
- reasons: the lyrics fit perfectly! And they show very well some parts of the story, as we can see in this examples: "I still have both hands over old photographs to remind me of the laughter, and tears"; "All that I know, I can't keep on living a lie, Oh, but darling... I can't hide the truth"; "I thought you would leave your heart with me And that part of you is all I need And someday you'd reappear, 'Cause you knew you left it here The only place it could ever be I thought I could watch you walk away Knowing somewhere down the road you'd say: 'It was all a big mistake, it was more than you could take', I thought you would leave your heart with me...".
- parts in the story where this song fits: well I think this song really could be used in the parts where Bella holds her Photo Album and thinks in Edward and also in the parts where she thinks about what happen in the woods and tries to give reasons and remembers of Edward's sentence: 'It will be as if I never existed'.
- The song "BRING ME TO LIFE" by Evanescence (which I think would be very used in the New Moon soundtrack because their songs fit perfectly)
- reasons: the lyrics fit perfectly in some parts, as we can see in this example: "Wake me up inside (I Can't wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark (Wake me up)"
- parts in the story where this song fits: as we can see above, I think this song should be used in the cliff diving scene. It transmits all the feelings that Bella has, such as the need to listen to Edward's voice and the peace and the sensation of flying.
So I'm excited to see all the suggestions of you, twifans, such as the reasons for those choices and the parts of the story where they can be used.

REASON: Bella being with Jake, it seems like she realizes when Edward really isn't coming back she must keep living on
PART WHERE IT FITS: anytime with Bella and Jake
Damn Girl- The All American Rejects
REASON: it describes how Jake feels about Bella
PART WHERE IT FITS: for Jake, mayber after the movie theatre, maybe the end of the movie where Jake gets Bella grounded, not sure
Shadows- RED
REASON: it fits well with a bunch of things
PART WHERE IT FITS: when Bella starts hearing Edward voice with the guys at the bar, seeing Laurent in the meadow, the bikes, and the cliff... or perhaps when Edward realizes that Bella has "died" and goes to the Volturi
The Best I've Ever Had- Vertical Horizon
REASON: It's how Bella feels about Edward
PART WHERE IT FITS: for Bella when she's moping around about Edward :P
Fix You- Coldplay
REASON: Jake understands how Bella feels about the Cullens and Edward without even having her say it, he sees the pain in her face, he's sensitive and peceptive...
PART WHERE IT FITS: for Jake wanting to make Bella better, when he tries to talk to her about the Cullens
Twilight- Thriving Ivory
REASON: from Edward's perspective, he's wondering how Bella is doing, thinking Bella will forget about him (AS IF)
PART WHERE IT FITS: Edward feeling bad about leaving Bella, there's not really a place for it
Memories- Within Temptation
REASON: reflects Bella's eternal love for Edward and her addiction to him as well when he's gone
PART WHERE IT FITS: anytime when Bella encounters Edward's "voice"

I think 'Come Back' by Pearl Jam would be a wonderful addition to the New Moon Soundtrack.
The emotion in the song is absoultely perfect...and to top it off they are from Seattle :)

I actually think sieze the day by avenged sevenfold is a good choice. it indicates the regret edward feels when he leaves bella in the dark....

also other songs that i think should be is my immortal by evanesence... and also hero heroin would have been good for twilight, even though its a weird choice i like it...
breathe by paramore.... like its so depressing and i think it shows how they both feel. even though edward doesnt have to breathe... it seems when he's away he has to...
and lastly ... my heart by paramore... shows that bella wants edwards heart and that she gives him hers... forever to keep...

Best song - Superchic[k] - Stand in the Rain for when Edward leaves Bella alone in the woods and during her catatonic state. Always hear this song playing in my mind when I read that part of the book. And any time I hear this song play I think of that part of the book.
She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone, feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down

My 15 Track New Moon Soundtrack/ Playlist
Okay, I’m the one who had that massive playlist. I started with 40 songs for my playlist for new moon and now it swelled up to 85 and its still growing… so trimming to 12 was next to impossible… so here is my attempt at curbing my enthusiasm for numbers…here are my 15 track list and the scenes where bits and pieces of the songs could be played:
1) Pressure- Paramore
Scene: (PARTY… STITCHES) for the birthday scene
2) What if you- Joshua Radin
scene: (STITCHES… THE END) after infamous birthday party, when they are back in Bella’s room, Bella taking pictures at the TV room and looking at the pictures in her bedroom)
3) Death Came and Got Me- Rosie Thomas
(it could be with lyrics or just instrumentals of this song)
Scenes: (THE END…OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY… WAKING UP)
to be played during the breakup scene in the woods, Bella left in the woods and in the scenes where they would show the passing of time with Bella on her zombie state
4) Another Little H***- Aqualung
scenes: (WAKING UP…CHEATER…FRIENDS…ADRENALINE)
Bella asking Jessica to a movie, Bella sticking up for Angela and talking for the first time again at lunch, Bella at work, Bella driving aimlessly in Forks before she saw the bikes, Bella and Jacob doing homework and hiking.

I'm sure this tracklist could still change... there's still 6 months left before new moon and until then there's my growing playlist to keep me occupied.

There are a lot of great suggestions for the film. I think the music that will be timeless is the best route to take--bands like Coldplay, Radiohead, Pearl Jam--they will stand the test of time. Another point to make is that the Twilight movies are a little bit off the beaten path, if you know what I mean, so the music should reflect that. Songwriters like Kelly Clarkson or Taylor Swift are not in the same ballpark as Twilight--really not dark enough. There is a song that I actually first heard when I was reading Twilight, and it's called Knife by the band Grizzly Bear. Here are the lyrics:
I want you to know

OMG!! They should so put in 'Goodbye My Lover' by James Blunt at the part when Edward leaves because it fits in so perfectly!!!
