This is the story of my family this is the story of my clan how we are different from those around us. And how we must stay together to survive we are all we have. This is a clan that has never been and in some eyes should never be yet we are bound by blood and that is strong enough to brake all the rules.
Chapter one
How I Came To be
Life one the move has never been a bad thing for me till now my name is Silver Norblood and its been a week since my mother passed away. Ever since I was a child me and my mother Lanora have been living hand and to moth and staying were we could find a worm place. We took all kinds of decent jobs busting tables, washing cars, and cleaning rooms all in order to sleep in hotel for a night or to. This was all due to the fact that my father had passed when I was four. David Norblood my father was a man of many gifts and be for he passed away to cancer he thought me and my mother what he could so we would do ok on our own. I don’t know why we moved so much I didn’t really care till my mother got sick and wouldn’t go to a hospital she could be quite stubborn. I am twenty three now just had my birth day alone in a camping park under the stars. And strangely happy cause I know my mother is whit my father and thy are watching over me. This night is long and colder then normal the last few mounts my mother had spent her time looking for her reaming family her older brother Rick and her younger sister Adreona. She maid me promise to go to them and tell them in person of her passing and I could not refuse he last wish. This would be harder to do her brother lives in Alaska it will take me awhile but I can walk there or hitch a ride. Her sister on the other had moved to Scotland back to our family roots or so I’m told. This will take some work but I will find them for her.
Which brings me to tonight I maid it to Dallas were exactly I could not tell you just one of there many parks that allow fires to be maid. Of all the nights this last week I have felt like I had eyes on the back of my neck staring at me. I maid the fire high so I could see far into the trees and keep warm on the wet ground. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something some one standing in the thick trees his skin seemed to glow whit light from the fire. His hair long and weight and his skin as pail as snow and yet I could not keep my eyes off of his perfect smile. He came closer and I could see his eyes blood red whit warmth and I only felt at ease not one bit alarmed or afraid as I should have been.
Hello I am sorry to intrude on your campsite I was only tacking a stroll through the woods and caught site of your fire. My I join you for a bit to warm my bones by your fire if you say no I will understand and leave you be. The stranger told me whit a smile
It looked to me like he half bowed at the end when he offered to leave.
No its fine I don’t mind if you stay I would offer you a bite to eat or some thing to drink only I don’t have much to offer. I have a long trip to go and not much to go on please sit an you can share what I have. My mother taught me always to be kind only if your gut told you it was ok and my gut told me it was.
You are to kind my lady thank you I will try not to still your warmth to long. Please do tell me when I out grow my welcome invitation. And as for a bite to eat I have had my fill for tonight all I seek is company I have been alone for to long. The way he spoke maid me feel like my mother was reading me one of her stories of time long ago.
We talked for hours it seemed and he never said his name and I never gave him mine. I watched the fire dance over his skin and his long hair. He seemed out of place at my fire and yet I could not bring myself to ask him to leave so that I could get some sleep. A few times he had offered and I had dragged him back into another long story of my many moves whit my mother and or odd ball jobs. I don’t think I have ever talked so much in my life not even to my mother. He would smile and laugh from time to time. He only looked around my age or may be a year or two older and yet he seemed much older. I lingered on every word that came out of his mouth it flowed like honey. I could see the curiosity in his eyes when he caught me staring at him. Several times he committed on my hair how he thought I a bit odd how my hair reflected silver in the light of the fire. And on my eyes how often they seem to change color as I told my stories. I laughed a little cause that is how I got my name the silver glow from my hair when I was born and my eyes my week point. I couldn’t lie or hide anything from my mother she all ways knew what mood I was in. my eyes betrayed me every time. It was growing late and I couldn’t help yawning and he took this as his sing to leave. I felt sad that he was going for some reason I wanted him to stay this kind stranger who caught my interest and that is hard to do.
Well my fair lady I must take my leave and let you be you have been a vary kind host and I am sorry I keep you sol long from sleep. This time he did bow and it seemed to fit and I smiled and reached out to shake his hand.
Really you could stay longer I don’t mind I could try to stay awake longer I hate having to stop to sleep it slows me down. I do hope to see you a gene before I leave the area I’m on my way to Alaska to see family. I healed my hand out for what seemed an eternity before he shook my hand
My did I still all the warmth from your fire my lady you are cold to the touch. He held my hand trying to warm it whit his hands.
I am always a bit cold and if I may your hands are a bit colder then mine. We both laughed and he let go of my hand
I fought the temptation to fallow after him as he despaired out of site in the woods. I returned to my fire felling more alone then before. Kicking myself for not getting his name or giving him mine. Curling up in my sleeping bag I fell fast asleep. Tomorrow I will have to make it at least one state away heading north west along way to go yet ill get there. The night seemed to get colder yet I didn’t wake to relight the fire I tasted something sweet on my lips. A cold wind on my neck and the smell of blood and in my mind it was all a wonderful dream till I felt the fire burning through me a nightmare now this is better.
I burned for hours fighting not to scream why bring notice to myself and why scare a pore stranger over my silly dream. I only woke when I felt weight less I was being cared. I couldn’t bring myself to open my eyes to see who it was I was just so tired and the pain of the fire burned more now that I am wake. I fought the pain and feel back into the nightmare of my dream to ease the pain . When I woke I was on a stone floor in a cave if I had to guess. The sun was high in the sky so it was more like noon then morning. My throat felt dry it burned whit thrust I was starving hopefully the stranger brought my things or would have some thing to eat. Snapping to reality I looked around and I was alone who ever it was had left me here. Propped next to the back of the cave was my back pack and the rest of my things I grabbed my canteen and drank . The water was warm and tasted like dirt in my mouth and did nothing to ease my thrust.
--The light from the sun creped in the cave for some reason I wasn’t cold and I didn’t need the sun to be able to see every bit of the cave. The light touched my hand I felt the pain as my fingers got hot as if I just stuck my hand in a fire. How could this be? What am I to do now? Why am I alone? Why did he leave me what did he do to me? What is wrong whit me? As the sun set more in the sky It came in to the cave leaving only a little nook untouched from its burning light. I huddled in that nook only big enough for a rabbit till the sun went down and the sky was dark. Out of instincts I built a fire I cooked every thing I had trying to easy the hunger that the thrust had brought whit it. Nothing worked nothing I had and I feared being caught out to long out side of this cave. Were my new enemy would be waiting for me to burn my flesh and me alive. Out of all the people in the world this strange man had picked me. What has he done to me what when will this huger stop what must I do I am so hungry? Midnight came and gone I never once felt my eyes grow heavy never once screamed out in rage. I just sat at the back of the cave waiting for him to return and explain.
He never did come back I waited for a week alone and hungry growing weaker as the hunger grew stronger. I had paced a circle in the floor of the cave for the h*** week I did not sleep just walked round and round. The last night just as the sun went down I heard a noise in side the cave whit me. It was small and I could smell something sweet on the air as it moved I did not open my eyes to see what it was. I lunged for it the fur was soft and the smell was rich my unnatural instances took over and I gored in the animals blood liking my fingers and sucking the blood off my close. Finally the hunger stopped the burn in my throat was gone. Only after I had eaten did I open my eyes to see the small rabbit in my hands I flung the remains of its lifeless body into the fire. I had not once in all my years have taken a life of an animal and now I killed it so easy. What kind of savage am I? I grabbed my bag stuffing my close inside of it and ran from the cave.
My hearing unbelievable I could hear people every were some still asleep in there tents some telling stories by there fire. I noticed the closer I got to the people the burn in my troth came back. And not for one bit did I like the way it maid me feel. How was I going to go see my mothers family now how can I? every ting I smelt people I turned and walked away I don’t know were I was going I didn’t even know if I was still in the same park.
I came to a highway sure enough I was no longer in Dallas I was in Fort Worth. Fallowing the road in to town was a vary bad idea but I didn’t know m way around and I had to fallow the roads. Closing my nose and trying not to breath I got through most of the populated parts. The strong smell from the cars and waste helped to block the smell. In one part of the city I could smell animals vary strongly I fallowed it to the Stock yards.
I could smell the food the people ate and my nose lead me to were they keep the meats fresh and warm. Raw stakes dripping whit blood my mouth filled whit moister dripping from my lips to the ground. I shook my hear in torment the hunger was strong I fought back the new instances to kill the people who looked at me now like I was mad. Fighting the to run fighting the to stay fighting to kill and not go insane. Twitching madly were I stood a voice in the distance caught my ear.
She’s going to lose it she’s going to lose it and we will get blamed were is her maker she is to new ehhhh get her out of here NOW!!!
The voices was like acid in my ears dripping from the mouth of a lady whit a voice of velvet. Then a man whit a funny voice specking in rimes disagreed whit the lady.
Its true she’s new being this she must be stopped. Yet see her hands twitch see her head shake she fights this be true. She is interesting take her out no aside yes she will be to talk and glad for it you will see. This one is not will not killing willingly.
I’ll do it dang it you to just are all talk and you just keep an eye out I smell others around. She got herself in to a mess and were aren’t the only ones moving in on her.
This came from a man whit a deeper voice.
It caught me off guard the felling to run and the hunger to stay were equal I was frozen in place. Looking around the food court I could see a group of four people in the direction the conversation came from. They were staring at me I could tell they were the ones who wanted to take me out as they said. Some one bumped into me and grabbed my arm tugging me away from the crowed food court. I could feel that this person was being way to easy and I was right. As soon as we were out of eye range I was off my feet whit a hand to my neck. I could see two men and one women dressed in ritzy close trying way to hard to fit in. These people had cash way to much to be bothered by me. So what did they want whit me? A tall lady whit long blond hair spoke first eyeing the man who had me hung in the air. He lowered me so my feet touched the ground but he did not let lose of my neck.
I’ll try to be nice my child but you pose us a bit of a problem so I am sorry but you do leave us whit little options. We can not have a new born wandering around a packed city like this unaccounted for. Now my first question to you would be who is you maker and were is he or she hiding there cowardly head?
I have no maker and I am far from a new born my question to you is what have I done wrong? I have vary little money and I don’t tend to stay in this city for to much longer. I travail alone I find for myself so I need no one to account for me. If you don’t mind please let me go and I’ll be on my way tonight and you wont see me a gene. I tried to plead my way out of it but I could tell it wasn’t working. The man who healed me laughed and squeezed my neck harder.
She seems to not to be telling the truth and I don’t smell any one of our kind coming off her close interesting I smell rabbit. And whit that he wrinkled his noise.
The two in the who had not spoke were arguing now on how to kill me whit out making a seen.
Lets just take her father in the ally and rip her apart burn her parts in a dumpster. The short man said.
Or we could burn her whole and watch her suffer I do like that. The young women whit short black hair told him.
The blond women leaned in and smelt my close
Disgusting utterly repulsing your maker did nothing to teach you proper diet my child you must be hungry. When I was as young as you are I would have slated all those humans in a second. She placed her hand on the mans arm
I do not think she will run you can let her go for now. Lets take her to the Prince and see what he has to say about her. She smiled showing her perfect white teeth.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see the other four that were talking about me coming closer.
Now look who we have hear she did seem to drag the out the dirt didn’t she so unfortunate to see you here Steven.
The blond was eying the on who hadn’t talked yet he did not seem pleased to see her in the least. This was looking worse whit every second at least whit the new comers I might get away.
I had many stories in the works I have a bit of a problem keeping to just one so i jump around a bit and work on this one and that one till they are all done I have so I'll work on this one a bit more and post what i get done.
The Blond walked closer to Steven eyeing his company’s on by one whit disgust on her face. This seemed to annoy her to have to take the time for pleasantries.
She smells of your kind you wouldn’t happen to be her maker would you? If so we will have much fun watching you squirm before the Prince.
She reached one hand out and ran her fingers through Steven’s hair some how saddened by the his reactions. Her lips turned down into a frown when he flinched away from her touch. Whit a mocking tone he tried to be polite just as she was to him.
We saw her first so she is by right ours to decide what to do whit. This child is not of my making and yes I can since she is of my kind. Which would make it the best if I was the one to take care of her. Not you Jennifer so if you would tell your man to leave her be or we will have to intervene. On the child’s behalf you do see we are evenly matched.
Steven was half a head taller then Jennifer and to much smaller build then ether of the men whit her. The only one who seemed to movie constantly at that was the man who spoke in rimes. He passed this way and that like a court jester before the kings unkind glare. Dressed kinda like one to I could see him out of the corner of my eye passing and watching me. His eyes seemed locked on my face as the others spoke of my destruction he seemed twisted in self thought. Spoke and introduced him self and the others of his group to me and only me. As if we were the only ones now talking he is a funny man.
Look at the child her fate she has heard no good to come she knows that see. You yank her up buy throat in hand and feet from ground. See see this child who is to young to be this restrained interesting vary interesting. She waits here fate and dose not care she dose not fight she dose not stare. See no fear whit in her eyes this child is different this child I must take as mine. If you choose to take her life I will fight you this I will.
My child you have me at your side I am Pester this I am. The one who is a lady fare is Riana. Then there is the strong stubborn headed brought he be Bane. And last but lest this striking beast is Steven he to like you in many ways. This night you will see I will make it that you live and talk whit me. Me oh me I have let my thong fly I did forget to ask you Miss what be your name. If it is that I am permitted to know.
Pester curled around to see my face his head tilted to one side looking me eye to eye waiting for me to reply. Before I could speak Jennifer was beside Pester and smacked him on the back of his head.
You foolish thing this child deserves no ones pity her fate was made when her maker split. She took him and tossed him back towards Steven and the others. Keep him on his leash or he will share this child’s fate.
This didn’t sit well whit me at all how she treated some one who has shown me kindness. Some one who has done me no wrong standing up for me when it was not his place to do so. I could feel the growl in my mind before I heard it pass my lips. I could taste the venom from my fangs fill my mouth then I snapped at the man who still held me still. My teeth found there mark and I bit a chunk out of is shirt and scripted accost his flesh. I fought to free his grip I kicked and punched and ended up whit my feet once more off the ground still growling at the man.
He through his head back and laughed at me. Ahh do you want me to let you go you mongrel I should snap your neck and your spine watch you suffer. You do have some nerve to try to bit me and look what you have done to my nice clean shirt.
Jennifer turned interested now in my reaction to.
What did you do Eric to cause her to bite you? She laughed and examined his shirt she was smiling The child caught your flesh.
I did nothing to cause this you did she reacted to you miss treating the one called Pester. I don’t think she cares much for the way you handle things. He has still laughing a little and she shushed him her eyes on me now.
I think your right I hear her growling its like a kitten purring yes the Prince would have fun whit this child before he lets use kill her.
Steven stepped in to close to her and she flinched out of his way it was funny really how they seem to repulses each other almost as if they were ex lovers that now could no longer stand the air when they have to be in the close prosperity. There was something there I just couldn’t place the hostility. In the distance I could here movement some one was coming moving fast. The smell of cloves and other herbs filled the air mixed whit blood sweat relaxing calm feel over me.
Now see its not that hard to calm the child she only seems bothered by your manners my dear Jennifer. Steven would you be so kind and take the child away she seems to like your words and she is willing to fight for pore Pester. This child truly is one to watch yet I fear we have kept her from something way to more important then even we have right to intervene in. All I am going to allow here is for her to know what she is it is clearly that nun of you have told her have you?
His eyes sweated over all of them when his eyes meat Erick’s he let go of me and I feel to my feet.
You are a cherisher no longer a human a vampire child and you have stumbled in and almost maid a mess of my city. I know child it was not your intent to case a seen for that matter I will let Steven show you the ropes and take you under his care. As soon as you are able I will allow you to finish your mothers last wish I see it on your mind but you must not tell them what you are or I will kill you and them myself.
And whit that I was free to leave whit a death note stuck to my head. I waited for the shock to set in and it did not come. The shock from nearly being killed and the shock that I am now a vampire. It wouldn’t do for me to run not just yet.
Are you hungry child? The women asked the one that came whit Steven.
The others were gone and it was just the five of us alone there eyes watching me whit wounder.
Not many meat the Prince so young and live to see a new light. Steven told me he stretched out his hand to take mine and lead me to a place they called home.
A place of clod stone windows tented to keep the sun out is this where I am meant to stay.
This is your home if you chose to stay whit us after we have all the time to make you safe here and keep you from causing harm to our kind. There are roles you need to know and must obey or we will take your life permently this time.
Steven tall and kind in his way lead me round the crowded house whit eyes watching me as we passed them. Each more willing to follow me some would stand at a destines and some would walk at my side. The ones that caught me off guard were the ones the sniffed at my hair or took my hand and licked my arm. I was told it way there way of excepting me others will take more time to get to know me. I just wish I could leave and be half way to Alaska by now. The last room we came to was larger then the rest whit walls covers by book shelves and a writing desk. There sat an ink quill next to and old book whit leather binding and a leather strap this book is vary old. I closed my eyes and I could smell the sent of the old leather and the musk of the pages.
My mind seem to lead me before I knew it I was holding the book in my hands looking at every detail. A book of names and of dates and a page or two for every name. It took me only seconds to notice that this was a journal of sorts and its owner was Steven. Whit one questioning look I asked him if I could add myself to his collation as I saw it of people Vampires that he has met. Whit a smile he took a breath and handed me the quill I laughed. I wouldn’t dear disgrace the lovely hand writing in this book by adding my scribble to it.
If you could do the writing I would be happier I have pore hand writing and my spelling is a bit to be questioned.
He took the book and the quill and wrote the date and how we met then looked at me whit a side ways glace and asked me my name and when and how and were I came from those sorts of things.
My name is Silver Norblood and I am or was twenty three years old. My mother and father have both passed on before me. Which brings me to were I am going to Alaska and then to Scotland to deliver the news of my mothers passing to her family. She maid me promise and I plan to keep it no matter what the cost to me. I told him of the stranger who sat buy my fire and how I stayed in the cave for days. He questioned the rabbits’ blood on my close and why I fought the thirsted to kill. I answered him as he wrote so small in the book to fit every bit of information he could in the pages. Then when it came to now were we are sitting in his room talking of my past I sat in silence as he began to speck.
The one who made you is your maker and he has done a grate crime and should if caught be punished for making you one of us. Not for the fact that you are hear just that he has left you to wander alone unknowing what you are and the danger that you are now in. for one wrong move and you will be put to death this is our way hidden and unseen well the darker side of us that is.
Steven looked at me whit kind eyes and saw no fear in my eyes death to me was nothing living is more fritting. Now there are different types of vampires you see I am a wanderer I go more off my animalistic side and that is what we since in you. Which makes you a Gangrel like me not to many in the city. Most of our kind is like the stranger you met we wander form place to place. Now Pester is a Makaven a trickster of sorts as you have heard he talks in riddles and in rimes. Likes to thorough his pray off guard and desertion is his gift a bit nuts if you ask me. Bane is Bruja thinks much like a jock would in your terms and last there is Riana she is likes to handle the tactical bits of our life here she is the brains of our group. And being so she would have killed you quicker if Pester handed been imprested by you.
He could have been killed for standing up for me that little fool should have bit his tough. I was steamed how she treated him like a dog that was uncalled for. Oh me I have been around others to long I’m babbling I’m normally don’t have much company. When can I leave or am I aloud to leave ever. I looked at him pleading I so have a long way to go and even if I have all the all the time in the world I doughty her family dose.
Once we get you more sorted to be around humans you will be free to go as you wish but you will come back won’t you. Pester would be hurt if you didn’t he doesn’t take to many others often. Steven told me and stroked my hair whit his fingers there are things you will have to get used to things you will have to learn to hide. Your eyes will give you away there tend to show how hungry you are your skin will be colder to those you touch and things like that.
It was almost a mouth under there care till I was allowed to leave pore Pester begged me to let him come. And in truth he did seem much like a pet to me and it maid me sad a little to leave him behind. I promised I would return and he was happy whit that.
I had a make shift bag of close and food to fool the humans and it took me no time at all to cross the Alaskan county line.
I knew that her brother lived in a town of Nome Alaska but were and it was located in Alaska was what I had to find out. The last time my mother and her family was together was way before I was born. The reason behind the long science wasn’t all together clear first her brother got married and stopped talking to any of them. Then it was her sister who stopped talking so being my mom she never pried into there life just keep up on were they were you know just in case.
I arrived in Alaska coming from Canada I was told that if I walked striate to the sea I would run into Nome first. That didn’t help me much at all to top it off the roads to most places were still close do to snow and ice. I traveled on foot and even for a locale I was way under dressed for the cold weather. The first big town I came to was Fairbanks I stopped at a coffee shop being an outsider got me looks. Being an outsider in the mid of winter not wearing much got people talking.
A young man around eighteen came over to take my order so I pretended that I was hungry and order a stake rear and the biggest coffee cup they had to offer. He laughed and blushed fumbling over his feet as he walked back behind the counter. I had tasted a bit of the wild life on my way so I really wasn’t hungry but when in Rome as they say. He came back and whit my order still all smiles the place was nearly empty and it was dead at the moment. So I asked if he could sit and help me whit directions to Nome.
Hi um I’m at a loss to which way I need to go all I know is I’m heading to Nome Alaska but were that is I ant all to sure. I lost my map a few high ways from here.
I put on my best charm and flirted a little he’s a bit young and may be it would work to my advantage. As long as he stayed on the other side of the table. I cut the stake and it dripped blood the meat was still bright pink and surprisingly it tasted half good. He disappeared and came back holding a map and his pen and took the set on the other side of the table.
You want to head west it’s the farthest you can go before you hit the sea it be easer if you took the plain most the roads are still way to snowed over for cars. He told me fallowing the roads whit the pen.
Oh I don’t have a car I’m on foot I’m hiking it. And I held up my pack.
His eyes were wide as he looked at me agene Miss you would freeze to death if I let you go that far whit the way your dressed. It take you weeks to get there in this snow I couldn’t in right mind let you go. His concern was touching but silly I couldn’t help my self I laughed. When he was done giving me directions he was called back to work cleaning dishes till some one else came in. I sat for a bit looking over the map and folded in my bag downed the last of the coffee which tasted like sand in my mouth and scribed a note on a napkin for the young man.
Thank you for you help and please don’t worry I’ll be fine you will see I’ll stop by agene to see you on my way home. Now I ant sure when that will be a week or a mount may be even a few years. So if you don’t see me don’t think me dead. Once I see who I need to see I’m heading back. I promise I’ll send word so you know I made it ok.
Your strange friend
Silver Norblood
Thank you kindly.
Whit in a two nights I was on the out skirts of Nome would have taken me less time if I hadn’t stopped to enjoy the lights in the sky. The beauty was breath taking to see as it danced in the sky and reflected off the snow. In the morning of all things the sky was still dark enough to hide the sun an ideal place to be. I unpacked my trench coat and sweats just to look a bit more like I was cold. People stopped and looked at me when I walked by there roads still covered in waste hi snow and I walk in out of the snow as if I were part of it. This time I stopped in at the Sheriffs office and asked or directions. They seemed all to friendly and glad to help till I told them who I was looking for.
Um Sur. Could you point me in the right way I’m looking for my Uncle Ricky Norblood. I’m told he lives some were by the bay.
Yes Maim he used to live by down that way whit his wife and daughter. Sept I’m sorry to have to tell you he passed about five years ago. And his wife well she passed years before that in child birth.
He looked all to at ease when he told me of there passing it seemed to be the way my life has take me every one dieing sept me.
And my cousin were might she be you did say they had a daughter?
Yes’em I did well you see she’s a bit off and doesn’t stay around town much she takes off on her own. We see her time to time by there house near the bay sept if I were you I’d leave her be she’s doing fine on her own.
This man was wearing on my kindness I bit back my tong and stayed polite.
If you don’t mind I’d like to find that out for myself so if you could point me her direction I’d be on my way thank you.
Sure thing but I’m telling you she a bit unmoral.
He pointed to were I needed to go and I left Err. These people I’m glad I never stayed away form them as much as normal. I had half a mind to ask him if I looked normal to him. Now what am I going to do my uncle is gone and his daughter is left on her own from what I can gather. No big I guess I could work on keeping my thrush in check I’ve done good so far and there are plenty of reindeers and musk ox’s around to feel me up. I can work on this. I’m sure of it I am in the place they call the Edge of tomorrow well tomorrow is a new start.
I watched the tiny home for sings of movement I sniffed around the out side and caught something strange. Not human and not quite animal a mix may be this was a puzzle to me I liked it. I must have looked like a dog sniffing the tail I had closed my eyes and let my nose lead the way. I came to at spot were the rock formed a tiny cave covered in moss. I peaked in side and saw a child well a teen hiding the small space from what I could see she had baldy out grown her close and was half bare in the clod.
Hello in there may I come in? I asked playing around
No go away this is my land my home you cant take me from it! She yelled at me
I don’t even know who you are so why would I take you from your land. I’m simply looking for a relative of mine who used to live here I’m told he passed a few years ago.
And I wouldn’t be hear setp they told me he had a daughter and I would like to meat her before I go away.
I hared a growl from the cave a quiet purring kinda growl her eyes opened wider and shined a bright goodish green.
Quite beautiful your eyes are now cam you tell me were I can find the daughter of Ricky Norblood please and I will be out of your way.
I took a step back and let her think about whether or not she was willing to help or not. She pocked her head out of the cave and I could see from were I stood the differences the sheriff spoke of. Her face and hands were lined in a thin layer of blond fur her ears were pointed and her hair they color of rust whit golden blond strikes. She is simply breath taking beautiful.
I am her and you are. Whit out thinking of what I might say to the way she looked she spoke freely quite willing to be the center of attention for a good reason.
I am Silver Norblood your cause my mother was you fathers sister. I came here to tell him of her passing yet that is no longer why I am here. Now I’m here to get to know you.
Oh my name is Aurora Norblood and this is my home well only when they come and try to take me off it I hide here. Then when there gone I go home. She babbles like a teen.
How old are you Aurora?
Fifteen well close enough to it aren’t you cold most people need more close than that thin coat to keep warm in? me myself I have kinda a built in sweater to keep me warm.
I laughed yah me to in a way I don’t really get cold any more.
Yah I figured that you smell funny kinda like dead roses not to be rude and all I could smell you for miles away. She told me and wrinkled her nose just a bit. Whit a smile she surged and started walking back to the tiny house.
Yah not to be rude but you don’t smell all that keen your self kinda like an wet animal at that mossy cave. We both laughed and I was surprised she was quite fast for a human it didn’t take that long to make it back even at her passe.
Well cat to be more perrsise I take after my mom for what my dad says.
She turned her head slightly eyeing the something shiny in the snow. So what’s whit you she smiled and unlocked the door. Sorry the lights don’t work any more they cut the power a few years ago and the rest is kinda the same. They just cant keep me out so no one wants to move in.
Her two room home was nice even whit out the power its still had a the feeling of family and warmth.
Its not like we need the power I mean you being a fur ball and all. Me on the other had I’m more like a stone snow women twenty four seven now. That maid her laugh.
This wouldn’t take to much work to be around her as I thought it would and strangely she didn’t seem to shy away from me. So this will work out quite well and may be she might let me come back after I find Adreona. That is if she is still alive it seems my well our family is dieing off faster then my mother had planed it to. I watched Aurora go about her daily routine whit fascination she really did acted like a cat a wild one. A teenage cat she cleaned her fur started a fire to meat the snow. Carrying buckets of boiling hot water to the tub whit my help it took her less trips then normal. I keep the fire going wile she cleaned off I scrubbed clean whit the hand full’s of snow. What’s the use of a hot tub if you trough a huge ice cube in it. I looked around the house found a picture book in what looked to be her room.
The resublimes of my mother and Ricky was clear to see same eyes and ears and even the same smile. I longed for my mother now even more I turned the page only to find another picture of her and Ricky this time there was another women in the picture. And there was no doubt in my mind that the other women was Adreona. So this is the Norboold’s first time I’ve ever seen a picture of my mother. And even as a teenager I could tell that it was her. I was still staring at the picture when Aurora walked in drying her hair as she sat down. I could almost swear I heard her purring
Witch ones your mom? She didn’t even have to look at the picture to know witch one I pointed to.
Lanora. You know I’ve never seen her in pictures we always travailed light so there was no room for such things.
That one was taken just before dad moved here for the first time. Yah my dad was really big on pictures that’s why he came here taking pictures.
Did he say much about my mother and our Aunt much our keep in touch whit her a little. I know it would have been hard to trying to keep up whit my mother we were always on the movie.
Nah he keep mostly to his pictures and when he wasn’t snapping shots of wild life. He was working to pay off the house and taking care of me. I took a bit of getting used to and being alone he had his hands full. My mom was a bit out of the ordinary kinda like me only not as furry. She laughed yah my dad thinks that the cold weather might be the reason I turned out more cat then normal.
I I’m still at a loss to what you are cat human how would that even work?
Well not sure really just that my mom was a Bastet human and cat and from time to time we shift in to a wild cat. I know crazy I wouldn’t be telling you sept your family for one. Not to minchin you don’t smell much like a human your self so I kinda think you could keep a secret. So what are yah any ways? The look of curiosity in her eye I could only think of curiosity killed the cat.
I’m a new born vampire I was turned a few weeks ago to be precise I was on my way here when I was side tracked. I ran into a kind man and he turned out to be a vampire. I was told the only reason I’m not wild is cause of the type of vampire I am. I’m still getting used to it but I’m told that I act more like a shape shifter then a vampire. My kind tends to favor being out and about in the wild. And some of us are even know to live among werewolf’s whit out them knowing. But I haven’t heard any thing of cat people yet and as far as I can tell we get along.
She laughed werewolf’s do they really existed and looked me over for a bit I can see it you do look off. I guess that means you hunt humans and that won’t do for me I cant and won’t hang around that. She turned her nose up at me disgusted.
Aurora was set in her mind that if I was going to stay around my hunting habits would have to be the same as hers. Trips to the town would be a minimal and talking to the Eskimos would only be for trading. This is how she did things for five years the time since her father passed. Before that he did all the in town bisness and such she had no need for it. The name calling and the weird looks made her father sad and she stayed away keeping to the house and her cave.
I didn’t mind the limitation on hunting I haven’t even tasted human blood since I turned any ways. So I was stuck whit reindeer and musk ox and such no cats that was out. Something on the lines of might being related didn’t set well whit her. Only the sick or ingered or weak were allowed to be hunted leaving the health and young to thrive. We got a good hunting pattern I drained the animal of blood and she devoured the meat she was pretty handy at skinning the animal. Carving up the left over’s in to two piles what she consumed in a week and what would go bad before she could eat it. That was what we traded meat and skins for things such as new close maid from the hide we brought. New friends in my book they welcomed me open armed and unafraid. There was talk of others like me who chose not to kill humans who lived a few towns away. Tempting thought to go visit setp I wasn’t going to leave Aurora just yet.
She had gotten in the habit of curling up in my lap at night to sleep I did my best to comfort her when she dreamed nightmares. We didn’t talk much of the past and vary little of what we are. It was kinda hard to explain something you barley understood yourself. So we just lived as if we had no past hunted weekly traded as often as we could. I noticed that the small village that she traded whit didn’t depend on her in the winter for there meat so that was a good sine that if she left it wouldn’t be a drain on there living. It was the same week after week and it started to grow on me. I had never stayed in one place this long I was ready it was time.
I spent a year trading for things to fix up her home and fighting whit the town to leave it alone. Her father had paid it off and the house and land was hers I took sole garden of her so the state stopped trying to take her away. Which wasn’t difficult to get no one wanted her they seemed all to willing. We were quite a site to see so I was told by one of our Eskimo friends. An older woman close to death spoke to me of Auroras mother once or twice. She talked of seeing her turn from women to cat to hunt how she stold the spot light when she interred the room never one for giving in when it came to a fight. How her daughter took after her in many ways how her kind was a dieing breed. To see us together would have maid her mother and father proud. That she wasn’t alone and there was some one willing to except her for who she is.
I gave it a year and I had to start saying my goodbyes I had to finish what I started I had to deliver the bad news now to the last sibling left my mother had. This had gotten a bit harder for I didn’t know Ricky well. I hinted about my leaving for some reason I couldn’t just tell her I had to go. I looked over the map and witch was the best way to get there whit out having to pass many people on the way. I had sent word to the young man that I was heading to Scotland now and thanked him agene for his kindness. Silly me I cant ever seem to go back on my word no matter how small the promise.
I packed my bag a few nights before and asked the villagers to keep an eye on the place for me. I promised them I would return some day to visit whit them and to pass it on just in case it takes awhile to return. I hated saying goodbye I loved it here. I had told Aurora that it was time I moved on and I left an open invitation for her to come whit me. I even bought her a over size camping bag and a bigger tent just in case she decided to join me. I know in a way it would be wrong for us to be out and about together sept were family and if any of my kind didn’t like it I’d fight for her.
Aurora took even longer in the tub then normal it was a bit annoying.
Don’t you dare laugh it’s a long shot but how do I look I hope it works? She stepped out and the first thing I could see was a furless face and arms even here hands had no fur.
What have you done to yourself child? I had no clue what she was thinking.
I got rid of the fur I shaved well just the parts that would be seen the most I thought it would help me blind in better. Dose it look alright? I know I nicked my ear a few times it hurt but I did try. She looked at me whit wide eyes almost a pout
You look a bit like me whit more fur really sept you green eyes to my gold we could pass as sisters more easily then cousins. So your really coming whit me to Scotland this is going to be fun. I nearly jumped for joy I was so happy I didn’t have to leave her alone.
Well you said I could go whit you so I am it might be fun. So how we getting there any ways? She was looking at the map
I’m not really sure the best way I think were going to have to go and get passports and I don’t know how long that will take either way it will be a long trip. Unless can get a new found friend to help use out.
I reached into my bag and pulled out Stevens number may be he will know what the best way to go is it couldn’t hurt to ask him.
On the way into town Aurora clung to my arm watching people staring at her. I told her to relax whit the fur gone she didn’t look any different then they did. It was more likely they were staring at me then her. We headed over to the court house to get passports they told us it would be two weeks before they were done. I maid the call to Steven and he told me it be best to fly there save time and keeps me out of the public eye a lot easier. One problem I don’t have that kinda cash for two tickets to Scotland. He offered to call the tickets in and pay for them if I came home as he put it when I was done. I told him it might be easier if he came to Alaska to meat my cousin first there was a bit of a dilemma I wasn’t sure would go over well if I brought her to all the vampires there.
Steven had called and ordered two tickets round trip and left the return time open so we could stay as long as we needed to. And as soon as we got back we were to call him and Pester. Our little two room house was going to be a bit packed but I think in the end it would be worth it as long as they behaved. I could just picture Pesters reaction to Aurora.
The weeks we waited for our passports was long and the Aurora complained about having to shave her fur agene. I laughed and told her it didn’t bather me nun if she didn’t it was all up to her. I couldn’t tell if I was playing a mother or a sister in her head some times it seemed as both a sister to play whit and a mother to take care of her. Since we were coming back to Alaska she felt a little more at ease about leaving. Yah I think this will go well.
Our plain maid several stops and even more roles of film. Steven had sent a cell phone and as he called it pocket cash via over night mail. Aurora used a role full of film at almost every location we stopped at and maid Steven and Pester promise to bring lots of pictures she had gotten to know them over the phone. Every chance she was aloud on the phone she was talking to Pester she loved his rimes. She slept whit her head in my lap on the plain and we both took to eating raw stakes while in the close company of humans it worked to take the edge off of things. Getting her to wear shoes and keep them on was difficult. When our plain finally landed in Scotland we were both hoping this would go well and that our Aunt was still alive.
There was a problem we forgot to tend to before we had landed in every other state it was dark dead of night. Here in Scotland it was noon and the sun shown bright how was I going to get around dearing the day whit out burning. Aurora has closed our window so in this seat I was safe other windows were open and the light shined in if I moved I was toast. I could reach the bathroom and we could hide I the shadows till dark sept that would look suspicions and there were way to many windows and draw the wrong kind of attention. Err what to do what to do?
Here take this I can hide my ears whit my hair and my nails aren’t that big a deal hurry the plain lands soon. Aurora had given me her hoody which to hide part of my face.
Thank you for this really well get a room close buy and stay there till night take a taxi from there if need be will stay at another hotel if the sun comes back out before then.
I took off my trench coat and put the hoody on and put my trench coat back on over it. That took care of most of my face whit shades and pulling my caller in tight around my face I slid the gloves on and I was now covered from head to toe.
Attention please we will be arriving in Perthshire Scotland in five minutes pleases put all sets up right and trays away. The fanon seatbelts sine came on and the cabin was starting to get vary loud whit conversations. Thankfully there were plenty of spots to hide in the shade we picked up or bags and headed for the exist. Problem two err this is getting vary annoying not to many people spoke English well enough for us to understand. That is the ones that would come near us to talk to us. The women would hide there children and the men shuffled there women out of our way. One look at us and people crossed the street keeping far away from us.
We stopped at a pub to ask for a hotel not a good idea at all. The room feel silent just as my phone rang causing some of the people to jump.
Hello Steven we seem to be causing quite a stare in the locales I guess they haven’t seen to many Americans in these parts. Were only looking for a hotel sept we cant understand what they are telling us and most of them won’t even come near us.
Let me talk some one near you I’ll get you were you need to go. He laughed I new I should have came whit you this time at least.
I put the phone on speaker phone and lay edit on the bar since no one would take it from me. I could only guess Steven was asking directions to the nearest hotel the bar tinder leaned in close to the phone. He seemed confused and picked up the bar phone dialed a number and handed it to me. Steven was still talking when some one answered the other line.
Aurora turned the speaker phone off and told me to ask for a pick up for the day.
So I did and after that I heard the phone click and the line went dead.
Aurora tried to take a seat while we waited and only got a rude reply from the bar tinder.
We don’t serve you kind in here you best leave now or well call the Bobbies to take you way.
I stifled back a growl that ticked me off I could see it ticked Aurora off as well her ears were twitching. Tried to stay calm and keep my temper under control but it didn’t work to well. As we were leaving I kicked one of the tables and it smashed way to easy under the force. Aurora quite liked the way it sounded and smashed one her self we both laughed as people ran out passed us screaming. I couldn’t make out what they were calling us half the time it sounded like monster and then agene I thought I heard werewolf. It didn’t take long at all for a black car to pull up out front whit tinted windows and a vary tall driver.
You call for a pick up Lassies and he healed the door open for us. He took our bags and placed them in the trunk and was back in the driver set and we were on our way.
You should have called from the airport you’ve already got them stupid’s buzzing crazy things. He told us
My name is Evan and you lassies would be?
Silver and Aurora Norboold we are looking for our aunt who lives some were near here we hope.
Hum Norblood you say hum haven’t heard that name in over twenty years yes I think she still lives up near wolf hill. You to ant my normal pick ups I not used to picking up a werewolf especially one who travels whit a vampire yes lassies I know what you are. He winked at us
I ant no dog sir. Aurora said smugly scratching her claws on the set tearing the leather whit a smile.
Beg my pardons lass I just assumed cause of your ears and all.
He swallowed loudly not wanting to upset use any farther he stopped talking and headed for a place covered in shadows.
Do you really get many werewolves around hear for people to believe there real.
Lets see a vampire in my back seat asking me if werewolf’s are real this has to be on of those days. We pulled up and he got our bags ill show you to room and not to be rude lass if I were you id stay in my room till its time for you to leave. Bing no dog and clearly not a vampire just ask for me when you call for room service and I’ll get you what ever you need. As soon as night falls I’ll take you to Miss Fang’s home.
Miss Fang were looking for Miss Norblood not Fang. I said as we fallowed his to our room
Yes the same she was married to the late William Fang.
Late as in passed away late she is still alive right? Aurora asked
Yes she still lives and her daughters as well this will be something to see indeed.
I just need to know which blood type you prefer and what type of meal um you would like and I’ll send it up right away.
Blood type like in human alive or stored?
Alive of coarse the fresher the beater right or so I’m told and fresh raw meats for the animal kind tends to work weal just what type live stock or wild beast we have all types here. He said not seeming bothered by our dietary habits
We will both take which ever large beast you have on hand no human blood if please we tend to stick to animals. I told him and he seemed to smile at me
And no cats we don’t eat cats of any kind., Aurora pointed out
Vary strange day indeed a vampire who doesn’t eat humans and a werewolf who isn’t a werewolf strange indeed. He said under his breath
What is it about me that screams werewolf to you I am no dog. Whit that she slammed the door in his face and screamed AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Do you feel better I asked its only the ears I guess and may be the bit of fur that is growing back already its not there flat for being ignorant they just probably don’t seem many Bastets around here. I sat down beside her on the bed as she curled up already fast asleep.
My mind was thinking of how they thought she was a werewolf and how they existed here would we see one before we left many be not. I do know I have a new task to keep me occupied when we leave and that would be to find more like Aurora. To find more Bastets she cant be the only one left just were to start looking. The nock at the door brought my mind to a stand still the smell of fresh blood woke Aurora. The lady who willed the food in looked at me whit fear clearly she was thinking that this was a room for werewolves‘. Her hands trembled as she removed the meat and placed it on the table near Aurora’s drooling mouth. Keeping her eyes on me she backed towards the door keeping the cart between us. I went over and picked up the bucket of animal blood and opened it took a long drink and smiled at the lady. Blood dripping off my lips and her face went weight then hit the floor. I placed the cart out side the door and lifted her to my bed poor girl I didn’t mean to scar her. And went back to my meal before it got cold.
We ran into other vampires’ on our way out all of which remarked about me being to new and hanging with a dog. Aurora was glad to be gone she hated being called a dog or mongrel. Evan drove slow through the streets and got there around 10:30pm grate she’s probably getting ready for bed what a time to have strangers knocking at her door.
Evan got our things and went to the door and knocked for me.
Hello Miss Fang its been awhile I have brought two unusual guest for you they say there keen off yours. Whit that he bowed and went back to the car.
The lady who stood at the door looked still vary much like the young teen in Auroras picture. Would you be by any chance Adreona Norblood I asked keeping in the shadow of the porch light.
Yes I am she and who might you be?
I would have had tears in my eyes just as Aurora did to see my aunt who looked a lot like my mother.
This child as I pointed is Aurora Norblood daughter of Ricky Norblood and I am Silver Norblood daughter of Lanora Norblood. We are your nieces here to deliver the unforchent news of our parents passing.
Adreona feel to her knees whit tears already swelling over out of habit I did not stop to think I reached out to comfort her. I raped my arms around her and the cold of my touch stopped the tears as was on her feet backing away from me. Aurora moved into the light and it danced on her blond fur. Her face was sad and eyes were full of tears even in here ears you could teal she was saddened as they hung low. I pulled back in the shadows not wanting to freighted her any more I was ready to leave
I have delivered the news and I came to give you I will go now I will not bother you agene I am sorry. Come Aurora we mustn’t bother her any longer then we have already. I turned and headed back to the street whit Aurora on my heals when we heard her call to us to come back.
You took me by surprise I am sorry for my reaction I am not offended by what you are please come in. Have you eaten? And she placed her hand around her neck.
I laughed yes we have we shared a nice big animal I couldn’t tell you want kind it was I didn’t see it just the after bits if you know what I mean. You can relax I don’t bit I made a promise not to eat a human if I can help it that is and I do tend not to go back on my word. Adreona lead us to the dinning room were we sat around the table she eyed us just as every one else has whit curiosity.
I know that you and she pointed at me are a vampire but you pointing at Aurora what may I ask are you. And don’t tell me a werewolf I know that bread to well and you are not it.
I am a Bastet from what I can tell half cat half human like my mom. Aurora smiled for the first time since we got here.
This will be tricky good thing my daughters are out tonight there camping this will be a bit tricky see my oldest doesn’t get along well whit vampires and I’m not sure how she will react to you my dear.
