Chapter 1 :
BELLA P. O. V ;
When Edward left i was devastated. That didn't even begin to cover half of it. I couldn't even fathom the very thought that the love of my life had left and he was returning. I understood that he didn't want me and he wanted me to have a fresh start, but, why?
I spent most of my time going to school and staying at home. Having no will or reason to actually go out and live. I never talked and i sat by myself at lunch. Never even looking at my friends. I was heart-broken at first, than depressed. But now, i was sour and angry and betrayed. I love my Edward so much and he left me. I knew he was to good to be true, but i thought he was different besides being a vampire. But with a kiss, a favour and and then disappearing. I was pissed.
It had been almost seven months since he left and the h*** punched through my heart throbbed from dusk until dawn, nightmares taking it's place at night. I emailed Alice religiously, everyday, but every time it failed to send, i felt myself drop another twenty feet.
I was sitting in front of the coffee table doing homework as my Charlie watched the game. I was catching up on a huge pile of English homework. I had an essay for Macbeth by Shakespeare due next Monday. Which was in three days.
I had grown closer to Charlie since i went through my depression stage. We both supported each other and fought over our awkwardness. He was there for me and he did his best to help me get through this.
"Bells?" Charlie asked, leaning forward. "Jacob called again. He really wants to see you."
I glanced at his face, twisted with worry and a bit of humour. I offered him a tight smile, happy his was trying to make me happy.
I nodded, looking back at my homework and zoning out. He patted my shoulder and leaned back with a grunt.
I began thinking about the meadow. When Edward revealed what he was a shared himself with me. Laying in the flowers, talking about what vampirism is like. I knew as soon as i saw him that i loved him. But he had changed his mind about us, leaving me alone in this world.
My eyes began to sting at the thoughts of him and i lost my breathe.
"I-I'm going to go to bed, Dad. See you in the morning." I sighed, zipping my binder, swinging it on my hip.
"Okay, Bells. Good night." He replied, keeping his eyes on the television.
I ran up the stairs, tripping at my doorway, slammed it shut and tossed my binder on my desk as the tears began to flow. Launching myself onto the bed and crying into my pillow.
My heart was broken. I cried myself to sleep.
Edward P. O. V ;
Six months. Six agonizing months away from my Bella. I had never felt so empty in my life. I wanted her back so bad, but I wanted her to have a chance to live a normal life without any danger. I knew I'd destroyed her heart when i left which crucified mine. But i wanted to give her a chance to live a human life. Get a loving husband, get a career, have children, grow old and die. Just like nature intended. But there was a twinge in my unbeating heart that told me she wasn't even trying to move on and live a human life and wanted me me back. I fought that feeling and focused on busying myself with travelling, losing myself.
I couldn't bare to face my family when i left. Alice was infuriated and told me to return to my love, followed suit by Emmett and Esme which Carlisle had no choice to agree with. But he stared at me, his mind filled with sadness for me along with a confusion as to why I gave up on myself for the second time. That was what confirmed my plans to leave. I couldn't deal with those thoughts around me. It would kill me. Rose was glad I had given her a chance, but she also worried about me, though she didn't show it, but her mind was open. I caught her thoughts when she was reciting song lyrics religiously. I always had a song stuck in my head after being around her. Jasper was worried for me and felt awful that he had tried to kill Bella. I just couldn't handle it and i left.
I was currently in Africa, deep inside the Amazon, hunting leopard and tigers, trying anything to lose my train of thought. Numbing myself of any emotion besides the hunt. But no matter how hard i tried, it never worked.
"Edward Cullen?" A rough, deep, female voice asked from the darkness of the rainforest.
Surprised and territorial, I spun around with a wild snarl at the disruption of my hunt. My teeth curled dangerously over my teeth, and crouched, ready to spring at any threat.
A tall, wild looking woman with dark skin and hair down her long torso walked out, her long face blank and curious as she watched me. Her elongated limbs were lean and sure as she held a tree. Her moves swift.
I snarled and began to advance. But with one step forward she stood strongly between two trees and glared at me as my sight was taken away and i fell backwards, scrambling backwards in to a tree. My eyes, but all i could see was a smoking darkness. She had a gift!
Her deep voiced was only ten feet away when she spoke again. "Calm yourself, Edward Cullen. I mean you no harm." She said with a thick Portuguese accent.
As if trying to prove her point, my sight cleared to reveal her sitting crossed-legged in front of me, only two feet away. I was instantly nervous and threatened. I knew no one here and I knew nomads were hostile if their territories were crossed.
"Mr. Carlisle has informed me that you may cross my path. It seems that he was correct." She paused, her crimson eyes boring into mine. "He's very worried about you."
"He did, did he? Super." I snapped, sitting up, but not fleeing. Any hasty move would cause me my sight.
"You mustn't be petulant, young man." She frowned. But continued unphased. "He has informed me that you had fled for an intimate reason. A woman. A human." She ended with a sly smile and raised eyebrow.
She paused, staring at me. Her mind was quickly sifting threw question.
"Why not turn her?' She pressed.
"Because I love her to much to take away her life and soul. I want her to live a normal life." I explained, reluctantly.
"Hmm," She paused, "Mr. Carlisle had also told me that Alice had seen the human as an immortal. Has the human not asked to join this life?" She tightened her eyes, "Maybe this human is destine to become an immortal. Alice had seen her successful in this life."
Her mind began replaying the conversations she had had with Carlisle. No matter how many times she went through it, she couldn't understand why i had left. It made me angry.
"I have! But I have to do what's right for her. She means to much to be to lose her life over the dangers of mine." I snarled, running a hand through my hair, wishing i was alone.
She stayed silent for a minute. He mind blank.
"... What if this human... is your soul?" She asked simply, folding her hands over her heart. "You must return to her, love her and change her. Do not give up on the only chance of love. It rarely happens a second time."
If i was human, my heart would be racing and i would be red as a tomato. Venom filled my mouth.
"You don't understand!" I yelled, glowering at her.
She leaned back at my outburst, her eyes wide.
She snapped back with fury that scared me.
"No! It seems you do not understand, Edward Cullen. Your human is your soul. Without your soul you can not live and neither can she. You will both die if you do not reunite." She ended calmly, making sure the words sunk in.
I lost my breathe as it sunk in. My eyes stung with tears that would never fall. I understood. I wanted to sob and scream.
The woman reached into her jacket, pulling out a long white envelope.
She handed it to me. "This is a plane ticket to Washington." She placed it in my hand and closed my fingers over his, patting my knuckles. "Go retrieve your soul, Edward." She whispered.
I looked at the woman, shocked and mesmerized. But then i noticed she still had no name.
"Wait!" I squawked, panicked and reached for her. "What is your name?"
She smiled, standing up. "Zafrina. Tell Carlisle i said hell when you see him."
Without another word, she disappeared back into the forest. Frustrated and confused, i clawed at my hair and scratched my face. I need to return to Bella. And i knew she wanted me to return to her too. But i also knew she needed me just as i needed her. She was, after all, my soul mate. My heart.
I gazed at the ticket in my hands. My vision blurring and focusing with the emotion that past through my mind at an alarming rate.
I smiled to myself as i remember her. My Bella. Her long mahogany hair down her back. Her larger brown eyes and that rosy red blush. Her soft, warm skin and her porcelain complexion. That electrical current that blasted though our bodies with every touch and look. What i missed the most about her was that blush. Flushing her face as i read her thoughts through her eyes. Also her voice. Soft and high. The little things that would upset her or annoy her.
When the potent memory of leaving her in the forest alone, my mood plummeted and i mentally murdered myself for making such an idiotic mistake that could end both our lives.
I stood up. My chest tight with fear and guilt. I needed to returned to her at once. I knew she needed me. I was desperate to feel her in my arms. Warm, and soft. Breathing in her scent to make up for the seven months Ice been gone.
"Oh, my God." I cried to myself.
Hating myself, i took of into the Amazon, heading north to the airport.
The time on the ticket Zafrina had given was leaving in two and a half hours. I was only an hour away from it. I had no luggage so i could get on the plane immediately. I was desperate to see Bella. To go home.
... Home. It felt good to have a place to call home. Someone to go home too. To belong to somebody. I was frightened of Bella's reaction when i did return to her. How she would take it and deal with it. Would she be so shocked and hurt she would just close the door and cry? Would she be so mad that she would lash out, screaming and crying and trying to hurt me? Or would she be so over joyed that i returned to her and jerk me into the house, hugging me and crying about how happy she was. Though i favoured the last option, the other two were more likely to occur in the reality of the matter.
I arrived at the airport with an hour to spare and I darted for the gates to the plane. As i walked on board, I ignored the ogling eyes and the improper thoughts and focused on finding my seat in First Class. I was sure Carlisle didn't want me to suffer anymore than i already had. Thinking of him made me start to miss my family. Especially Alice.
Pushing past an old man shoving his carry on into the overhead compartment, I entered the First Class section of the plane. I looked for A3 and took my seat. When i looked across, I was met with gold, excited and slightly angry eyes.
Was my mind reading failing, was my nose faulty? How did i now notice her?
"Alice?" I squeaked, staring at my sister with disbelief.
There she was. Her eyes sad, as she played with her lavender scarf over her leather jacket and black skinny jeans. Along with dangerously high ankle heels. Her hair was curled and shook out around her neck.
I couldn't believe she was here.
"Hey, Edward." She whispered, moving to sit on my left side against the window.
She took my hand in both of hers and looked at my eyes.
"I saw what you were planning and I came as soon as i could." She smiled, not quite meeting her eyes. "I wanted to be with you so you weren't so lonely. I don't want that for you anymore, Edward. You've been alone for to long."
My eyes began to sting and I wrapped my arms around her, crushing her into my chest. "Thank you, Alice. Thank you so much. And I'm so sorry for my actions."
She hugged me back, patting my back. "It's okay, Edward. Just go and make everything right." She pulled away and she seemed to be back to herself, smiling. "So, I had a vision of Bella and you today. You two were so happy. And married. Can i plan your wedding! Please?" She begged.
My smile dropped and I was exhausted by her energy. Back to normal we were.
"Yes, Alice. Whatever you wish." I sighed, smiling at her.
With her squealing in excitement, I began to day dream about my Bella. Hoping everything would be okay in the long run.
I couldn't wait to see her.
After an eight hour flight, Alice and I were walking out if the electronic sliding doors and into the cool breeze of Washington. The air was crisp and cold, the airport parking lot was overflowing with a rainbow of vehicles.
My eyes caught on a strangely familiar black Mercedes with a white Jeep parked side-by-side by a light post only twenty feet away. I knew those cares.
As Alice ran ahead towards the Jeep, it all clicked into place. It was my family.
Jasper open the passenger door of the Jeep and jumped out, meeting Alice in a hug, lifting her up and shoving his face into her hair. Emmett jumped out of the driver's seat next, wearing a dark blue, v-neck sweater and black jeans. Looking burlier then ever. He gave me an unimpressed glance before walking to the side of the Mercedes as three doors flung open. Rose came out first. She wore a long, black fashion coat and yoga pants with blood red heels. She walked over to Emmett and leaning into him, her back against his wide chest. Esme and Carlisle came out of the front seats. They walked towards us, coming together to hold hands. They both looked excited and a little annoyed. Which was an upgrade compared to Jasper, Emmett and Rose's expression. Somewhere between angry and relief. Alice was the only one happy. Grinning.
Esme advanced first, her arms open. "Edward!" She choked, wrapping her strong arms around my waist and squeezing me to her.
I hugged her back, leaning my chin on top of her head as she quietly sobbed.
Her mind was filled with happiness of my return, but she was also upset about my leave in the first place. She also thought of Bella, which made my heart break.
I cringed as her mind got ready for a rant. I knew it was going to be a good one.
"Edward Anthony Cullen!" She growled, shoving me away so she could glare at me, her eyes golden flames. "You you ever do this to me again. So help me, God, i will make sure you never walk strait again. And I am serious. If you leave your family just to flee because your scared, I will make sure that you limp for the rest of your life. You will never leave your family again. Ever!" She was breathless by the end, her eyes red.
She spun around, breathing heavily as she stomped to the car, slamming the door behind.
"Hurry up, Carlisle.!" She called from the car.
Rose smirked as she gazed at me, Emmett had his face on his shoulder guffawed into her neck. Jasper was doing the same and Alice's face was expressionless.
Carlisle smiled at my horrified expression and pulled me into a hug.
"You had in coming, son." before pulled away and walking back to the car.
Everyone piled into the cars and raced back to Forks.
To return to my soul mate. My love. My Bella.

Chapter 2 :
Bella P.O.V ;
In my dream, I was at a table in the cafeteria of my school. It was completely normal and it could have been real. It was like any other day at school. But there was an eerie difference that made my skin crawl. The cafeteria was packed like any other day at lunch. But no one was moving. Everyone was frozen in place. No one was blinking, fidgeting. Nothing.
Than I realized the coolness against my left arm. Like I was leaning against an ice sculpture. But there was something about that touch, the warmth in that chill. I knew that chill. It was a chill I had gotten use too. Vampires.
As my dream progressed, though it seemed to go by in slow motion. I turned to my left, towards the cold and was met by eyes I had been waiting to see again. Honey gold irises, glowing with intensity. I knew those eyes and I wanted to cry. I could feel the electricity between vibrate with our locked eyes. I could even smell him. Like honey and lilac on a winter morning.
I took a moment to look at him, so vivid in my dream. Just from him sitting down, i knew he was just as tall as he always was. His hair was the same colour with that tint of copper. Tousled, unkempt and messy. His square jaw, angular face, thick, pink lips. Shiny, white teeth as he cracked a timid and nervous smile. His strong body and wide arms as they rested in a circle on the table in front of him. I was desperate to reach over and grab his hand. Hoping this was real. I wanted to tackle him, wrapping my fingers in his sexy hair and kiss him.
But as I continued to gaze at him, my dream began to change. A flash of red hair whipped around the school, students falling to the ground in screams of pain. Victoria!
"Ahhh!" I squawked at I awoke, jolting up in my bed.
Remembering it was dream, I kicked my blankets from my over heating and sweaty body and raked a hand threw my hair, removing stray strands sticking to my face. These dreams were becoming more and more real. It scared me so much. I rubbed my eyes with a tired groan and then looked at the red glow of my alarm clock. It was almost four in the morning, and I still had school tomorrow – today.
This was my normal night. Waking up in the wee hours of the night, from nightmares. It made me so tired.
I took a moment to look at my room in the night. The only lighting was from the moon, casting a shine against my bed. I looked out the window. Staring at the shining moon until my eyes lost focus and I just stared.
My eyes wavered by a movement in the darkness, beside the window in the corner. It was tall, and wide. A silhouette of a human man. I tried to stay come, staring wide eyed that the corner to make sure it was just my eyes. My heart broke into a frantic panic and I felt my throat go dry as it moved again.
A scream was crawling up my throat and I scrambled against the head board away from the shadow.
Just as my scream reached my lips, a cold, firm hand clasp down on my mouth, another holding my body still.
Cold hands! Cold vampire hands. It was Victoria, or Laurent. I was going to die!
Panic set in stronger and I started crying. Knowing that I wasn't going down with out a fight, I shoved against the body holding me down. I thrashed against him, trying to kick him. I was vaguely aware of a soft, velvet voice telling me things, but I wasn't having any of that. That's how people die in the movies.
"Bella, please! I'm not going to hurt you!" the voice soothed, a long fingers touching my cheek.
I stopped moving. Frozen. I recognized that voice. It was him. The soft tenor, velvet soft yet deep and low. As i realized I was in no danger, the touch of him was soft and loving. I knew that electrical current buzzing around our bodies. I knew the frozen flame that licked my skin. It was him. I knew it was.
"Oh, my God." I mouthed to myself. It may have came out as a little squeak but I didn't care.
So much was going through my mind.
"Ooo urrrr ouuu?" I mumbled in to his hand, knowing he understood what I asked. Though I knew I knew who it was.
I could tell by the gentle touch who it was. The shine of his eyes, the shadow on his face. Oh, my God, it really is him. The man I fell in love with. Edward Cullen.
"I think you know who it is." He whispered back, his voice was filled with guilt.
"Edward?" I breathed, fresh tears falling down my cheeks, filled with a mixture of happiness, angry and relief.
"Yes, Bella. It's me." He continued, gently moving his hand to cup my cheek.
So many thoughts past through my head in the minute we stared at each other. I was angry that he had the balls to show his face after leaving, after telling me he wouldn't and that he loved me. But I was overjoyed that he was back. I was also overwhelmed by his sudden return. I was desperate to just accept him back as if nothing happened, but he had lost all my trust in him. Which I was so sad about. Do I ignore the obvious and just take him back? Beat him and torture him? Thought that sounded like the best choice, I knew we had to work it out.
"Edward." I mumbled, stroking his strong jaw line.
He closed his eyes and leaning against my palm, humming to himself.
He was so handsome and innocently sexy. But he had a lot of work to do.
As anger flooded into my blood, my hand on his face turned in to a claw. I lifted my legs to my chest, my feet lining with his chest and kicked.
"Ungh!" He gasped, flying back.
I knew my kick didn't actually get him off, but I knew he was shocked by my sudden act of violence. But I'm sure he had the idea to 'get the f*** of me'.
He looked back at me as got up and stalked toward him. He looked saddened and guilty hurt and worried. But it was my time to be hurt. He hadn't earned that yet.
I kept my expression angry and fierce as I stood in front of him, my arms crossed in front of my chest as I glared daggers at him.
"How could you?" I hissed to him, my hand twitching to slap him. But I knew that would just break my hand.
He opened his mouth to speak, but he seemed to have lost words and shut his mouth again. His eyes were glued to his feet as he hung his head. I could tell from the vibe I got from him and his body language that he felt so bad about how he had acted. That he regretted it. But he needed this and so did I. Hopefully it would be a step to recovery.
"Speak, Edward. I need something from you." I snapped, smacking a hand against his chest.
He winced at my touch and his hurt eyes met mine.
"I'm so sorry, Bella. I just wanted to give you a chance to be a normal human. Live a normal life. But while I was gone, I had someone tell me that you are my life and that I'm yours. I-I-," He broke off, rubbing rough hands against his eyes.
If he could cry, I knew he would be.
"Is that it? Someone finally told you the obvious and you decided to listen?" I asked, slightly snobby.
His eyes flashed up to mine, fire behind them.
"No!" He snapped, making me jump and step back. "I had someone make me realize that you are my soul mate and my heart. If that means so little to you, I'll leave."
My eyes stung at his harsh words. I didn't want him to leave again. I knew that I wouldn't survive round two. My arms dropped to my sides and my angry act fell like a wall. Depression, hurt and just ultimate and heart breaking sadness taking it's place.
"I don't want you to leave again." I murmured, looking up at him. Begging with my eyes for him to stay and never leave again.
"Bella," He breathed, grabbing me into his arms as a sob broke from my chest and we dropped to the ground.
I couldn't stop myself. He was forgiven. He was back and that was good enough for me. But I knew lot's of work on both our parts had to be done. I was just so happy he had came back to me. I couldn't even believe it.
"Bella. I'm so sorry, love. It will never ever happen again and I will do anything to earn back your trust. I will never ever leave you ever again. Not until you order me away. I will never leave you. I love you so much, my Bella." He whispered into my hair as I shoved my face into his chest, clutching his shirt as I stained it with salty tears.
"I love you t-too, Edward. S-so much." I sobbed into his chest, a pain filled squeak coming up my throat.
He shushed me and rubbed my back soothingly. But when he tried to stand us up, I cried out, thinking he was going to leave.
"It's okay, love. I just want to put you back to bed, okay. I'll stay with you. I promise." He said, pulling me up and cradling me in his arms, walking to the bed.
With such grace and effortless moves, I was under the covers and he was laying on top of them right beside me. Just like he always did.
I immediately wrapped my arms around his narrow waist and laid my head against his shoulder as he continued to stroke my hair. Whispering words of love and promise.
Before I knew it, I was falling back to sleep, a peaceful sleep.
For once, I had a dreamless sleep. No nightmares, no nothing. It was amazingly refreshing. I knew I owed it all to the return of Edward. Who was laying beside me still, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.
My back was against his chest and I opened my eyes a crack to see the time in my alarm clock. It said it was a couple minutes past seven. My eyes were to blurry so I couldn't tell if it was a two or a five. It went of just as I was dozing back into unconsciousness and I rolled over and shoved my face in to Edward's chest and covered my ears.
Screw school, I'm sleeping next to my boyfriend all day. I needed more of this restful sleep.
Is that what Edward was to me now. Back to the boyfriend/girlfriend relationship? I think we needed another talk about our future.
"Edward." I mumbled in to his chest, making no effort to move. "Do you want me to skip and stay here?"
"That would be nice, but you shouldn't miss school." He answered, running his hands through my hair and down to my waist.
Another out of character action. He had changed as well.
"I won't miss anything. I'm already passing all my classes and we're just watching movies in Chemistry and Biology." I murmured, lifting my head to look at him, my chin on his chest.
"Hmm. Well aren't you the smart one." He chuckled, rolling us around, so he was looming over me under the sheets.
He gazed down at me, his eyes never leaving mine. He kept his body of me by his elbows on either side of my head. His cool breathe fanning onto my face as my heart continued it's annoying journey out of my chest.
I was slightly annoyed he wouldn't put all his weight on to me, but I understood why he kept a little distance. Which lent to know kissing. Which I was almost desperate for.
I decided to take a chance and place both my hands tenderly on either side of Edward's face, my thumb quickly making a pass over his thick bottom lip before I craned my neck to press my lips to his.
I almost instantaneously lost my breathe as he pushed his lips on to my, groaning and grabbing the back of my neck, pulling me closer. The electricity sparked and exploded around us and I wrapped my arms and legs around him, constricting him to me.
"Bella," He warned, pulling away.
"Oh, loosen up." I growled, holding him tighter and opening my mouth in the kiss.
He moaned and gave in, slowly lowering his body on to mine. As soon as he did, I felt empowered and decided to take it easy on his control. I slowed my wondering hands on his back, and let one leg fall back on the bed. He sighed, pulling his lips of mine. Then opened his eyes to look at me. He was a gorgeous guy. I smiled up at him and weaved my hands into his hair, lightly pulling.
That's when I saw them. A couple crescent bite marks on his neck and disappearing under his shirt towards his shoulder. I looked up at his face. The guilty look was back.
"Edward? What happened to you?" I asked, a little breathless.
I rolled us around, straddling him and pulled at the collar of his shirt, revealing a shoulder almost covered in bite marks.
With my mouth hanging open, I looked at him again. I was expecting an answer.
"I.. um. I was in a dark place when I left." He sighed, his eyes bouncing around the room, never landing on me.
To get his attention, I grabbed his chin and leaned down until we were face to face.
I waited for his eyes to meet mine before I spoke.
"What happened?" I whispered, leaning for forehead against his.
"I got into a lot of fights." He answered, his eyes sad as they held mine.
"I was angry, alone. I just didn't want to live anymore. Picking fights with immortals seemed to be the best way to get out some anger and maybe even die."
My heart plummeted and I sat back on his stomach. My eyes stung with tears of sadness and understanding since I knew how he felt. I sighed and ran a hand threw my hair, tossing it to one side.
He stayed silent, watching my face as I sorted through to many thoughts at once. I was thinking about what kind of immortals fought him and left him with these scars. About how he felt. If it was how I felt.
Shaking my head, I got of him and jumped of the bed. He sat up with a confused look.
"I'm hungry. Come with me to the kitchen." I muttered, looking over my shoulder as I headed down stairs.
Walking into the kitchen, I noticed a note on the fridge.
'Hey Bella. You looked pretty tired so I decided to let you sleep. You could use a day off. See you tonight. Love, Charlie.'
I smiled and folded the note, slipping it in to the pocket of my pajama pants and opened the fridge. I was craving some cereal but I was also eyeing the eggs.
I heard Edward come down the stairs but I didn't look at him. If he had something to say, I was sure he would speak up. I really wanted to know the whole story but he was just as stubborn as I was.
"I would ask if you wanted something but..." I snorted, glancing at him perched on the counter.
He smiled back. The crooked smirk that made my heart jump. His teeth were blindingly white.
"Well, I could consume human food but I would have to vomit it back out later. It wouldn't be pretty." He laughed, folding his arms across his chest.
I could feel the awkward tension in the room and it was starting to get to me. I wasn't that awkward girl any more. I had confidence now. Though it was quite the battle to get there.
Leaving a bowl, spoon and box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch by the sink. I walked over to Edward, wedging myself between his legs and laying my head on his chest and taking a deep breathe.
He sighed and his hands grabbed my hips. "I really don't want to tell you about my scars. It would just make you worry." He murmured into my ear.
Rolling my eyes, I looked back at him.
"Why do you constantly underestimate me? I'm not that weak little girl anymore. I'm preparing for college and I'm moving to Seattle. I think I can handle anything." I snapped and winced as I revealed my plans.
I didn't want to live in a small town any more. I wanted a fresh start. I was hoping he would come with me. I even had a plan for if and when he would change me. I would be a blood-crazed maniac for a year, during that, I'm sure I could study online courses for the Science program in College. I knew I could handle it.
"You're moving to Seattle?" Edward piped up, glaring at me.
"Yeah. I want a fresh start." I shrugged, my eyes catching on the scars.
"Can I come with you?" He asked quietly, gazing evenly into my eyes.
I couldn't help smiling. I nodded, pressing my lips to his chin. I debated on whether or not to move down to his neck, but I didn't want to push him to much.
"So, since your back. Are you going to change me?' I asked, just coming out and saying it as I poured my cereal and milk.
His chin clicked shut and he frowned, glaring at me. I could hear the growl rumbling in his chest.
"You still haven't given that up, have you?" He growled, running a hand threw his hair and grunting out a breathe.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes. Typical Edward.
"Wow, and you still haven't given up the old prune motto of Vampires not having a soul." I snapped back, turning my back to him and looking out the kitchen window at the forest. "Grow up, Edward."
"You don't understand!" He yelled, making me flinch at the volume. "Once you become immortal, you stay that way. You can never be normal again. You will stay frozen and never move forward. Why do you think Rose is so unhappy with her immortality? She wants to grow old. Have kids."
"I don't!" I screamed back, dropping my cereal in the sink with a clank. "Stop making this about your immortality and why you unhappy with it. I don't care if Rose doesn't like what she's got. I know what I want. And it's you."
His teeth clenched as did his fists. He tried to take a breathe but it turned into a frustrated grown.
"I would have thought your time away would have given you time to think about this." I mumbled, leaning against the sink.
"I have!" He snapped, his golden eyes flashing with anger. "If you think I haven't your mistaken."
"Then what did you come up with, Edward? Please. Do share!"
He sighed, calming down.
"When I was gone, I ended up in Africa and met a certain immortal there that opened my eyes." He started, taking a deep breathe. "She basically explained our love."
"Did you know her?" I asked, extremely interest, and thankful to this immortal.
He looked at me, his eyes soft and loving once again.
"No." He started, "But she did say she knew Carlisle, so, she must have heard of me through him. We had a nice talk and explained that you were my soul. My heart. And that i needed to return before we both died of a broken heart. So... here I am." He finished with a small smile, locking his eyes on to mine.
"Whoever this woman is, I really like her." I joked, smiling back and walking to him.
"I do too. But only because she made me open up my eyes and realize how much I love and need you,." He sighed, jumping from the counter and pulling me into his arms, hugging me with lots of love.
"Mmm... I love you, Edward." I sighed in to his chest, wrapping my arms tightly around his narrow waist.
He hummed, lifting my face to look up at him. His eyes told me that he loved with with so much passion that the world could be set on fire. Affection that could leave all the girls crying. But also guilt enough to kill and regret.
I briefly wondered what was going on in his head as i continued to gaze into his golden eyes. I leaned back into him, my fingers hooking on to his belt loops before sagging lazily. Content.
A playful growl vibrated through his chest as my hand accidentally grazed the top of his back side. I looked up to his eyes eyes black with lust and a nervous laughed bursted threw my lips.
"Sorry! I honestly didn't mean to o." I giggled, my hands snapping away and resting lightly on his chest.
"Uh huh," He nodded, smiling mischievously.
I blushed furiously as he began to slowly lean down to kiss me, but we we're interrupted by the front door blowing open.
"No more of that! It's my turn to catch up with Bella." A high voice demanded.
To my utter disbelief and satisfaction, Alice, short and spiky hair. Standing in designer boots and and posing like a high fashion model in a long blue coat and skinny jeans. Her eyes were a buttery gold and they shined with happiness as they took in my presence.
My eyes stung and I started to shake as I looked at her in awe.
"Alice!" I squealed, running around the counter and launching myself into her arms, sobbing happily.
She laughed at my exuberance and wrapped her slim arms around me.
"Alice, Alice, Alice." I chanted, tears falling and my arms throbbing form holding her so tight.
"Now, now, Bella. Calm down." She giggled a refreshing trill.
I remembered the numerous emails I had sent to her. I was slightly annoyed that she never answered them, but all of those rants were a form of therapy after they hand left. Emailing her had kept my head on straight.
"I'm sorry," I murmured, sniffling as I pulled away to look at her. "I just missed you so much."
"I missed you too, Bells." She smiled, patting my shoulder and glancing at Edward behind me.
I knew they were having a silent conversation, so I decided to turn back and stare at Edward. He stood tall, leaning against the hallway wall with his toned arms crossed in front of his chest and a slight smile on his angular face.
When his eyes met mine, I couldn't help but smile. Letting him know that I was ecstatic that he had came back to me and he had changed his views. I mouthed the words, 'I love you' to him before spinning around, grabbing Alice and dragging her to the living room.
We sat face-to-face on the couch, our legs crossed and touching as we talked about literally everything.
She told me that while they had been away, she decided to start her own clothing line called; 'Alice' and they were already into their third collection. They were raking in the cash and some stars were spotted wearing some of her clothes. Jasper had become her personal assistant and agent. Booking dates, meeting, shows and forwarding emails for her. She worried that he would grow tired of it but he had said he would do it because he loves her. Which I smile d like an idiot too. I always knew Jasper was a doll. She also told me that she and Jazz had gone on a vacation to London and stayed in a little cottage far from the city and just did nothing. They just relaxed and got to know each other again. It sounded fantastic.
When she was done explain about her time away, I started to tell her mine. I began, telling her about the big changes I made after I accepted the fact that they had left and weren't coming back. I did things completely out of character. The first was going to a party in Port Angeles and getting hammered, which she frowned at but I didn't care. She smiled when I told her about my new passion for dancing. I had taken up ten hours of dancing a week just for the fun of it and work on my lack of balance. It turned into something more. I was good, I entered some competitions but I mostly just did it because I could express myself. The instructor told me I had something but I didn't want to take it any farther.
The next thing I went on about was the many stories I had written and posted online. I wrote a total of five long stories about love and loss. They were pretty good, but it was just another form of therapy. The last one made her frown again, shaking her head, but again, I didn't care. I had debated on getting a tattoo, but I was deathly afraid of needles and blood. Especially after blood typing in Grade 11. That was not going to happen again. The second was my rebel piercing, a clean h*** through my tongue where a silver barbell imbedded. When I stuck my tongue out to show her, her eyes widened and her mouth fell open.
"Wow, when you said you had changed you weren't kidding." She said a smiling breaking when she quickly poked at my tongue.
"Alice!" I laughed, slapping her hand away.
I heard the clock strike five-thirty and Alice and I were still on the couch talking. Whenever I talked, I noticed her staring at my tongue like a cat staring at a ball of yarn. Whenever she would try to touch it, I would slap her hand away and laugh.
"I'm sorry! I've just never seen one and it's so shiny!" She giggled, going for it again.
"Well, stop it. It hurts if you tongue it too much." I laughed, catching her hand.
We were talking about her next collection that would be premiering in Paris when the phone rang and I jump away to go answer it.
"Hello?" I said in to the phone, holding it against my ear.
"Hey, Bells. I just wanted to let you know that I won't be home for dinner." Charlie said on the other side.
"Oh, okay. Did you want me to bring anything?" I asked, a little concern at his tired voice.
"No. The boys got us some fast food. But, I won't be home tonight, so, I'll see you in the morning. There's a big disappearances case." He said, bored.
"Okay, Charlie. See you tomorrow."
"Bye bye, Bells. I love you."
"Love you too." I said, and then hung up.
I turned back around to see Alice, but my view was obstructed by Edward. His hair was windblown and his eyes were a pure, buttery honey gold. The purple bruising under his eyes had disappeared and some colour had returned to his face. He also had changed his clothes. He wore a nice v-neck sweater the colour of moss and black fitted jeans. He looked fantastic.
"Did you go hunting?' I asked, frowning. I didn't even notice he had left.
He smiled, chuckling a little. "Yeah. You were busy catching up with Alice, so I decided to clean myself up." He explained, stepping closer, looking down at me.
"Oh. Well, I'm glad your back." I grinned, resting my palms on his stomach as I reached up to press my lips to his.
He sighed into my mouth; wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me flush against him. Just like always, Alice nosily cleared her throat like an old chain smoker to get our attention.
I released Edward, before leaning around his shoulder to glare at her, growling. She grinned knowingly from her perch on the couch, waving. I stuck my tongue out like a child and debating on flipping her off.
"What the hell is that?' Edward gasped, staring at my tongue.
'Nothing." I said to fast, snapping my tongue back into my mouth and tightening my lips together.
