Chapter 4


I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Were they being serious? He cant marry MY daughter, it was wrong. I had too put all my concentration on not ripping him to shreds, but oh how I wanted to do that.

Jacob looked from me to Rennesme and said “I think its better if I stay” in a quiet voice.

“Two seconds ago you wanted to leave!”

“Yeah that was before I knew how you were going to react!”

“Don’t you shout at me Jacob Black! How else did you think I would react? Did you think I would be happy and start planning your wedding for you! I cant believe this!” I went over to sit on the sofa. Edward was still standing beside the wall, he hadn’t said anything and by the look on his face I don’t think he could.

“Bella, honey” Esme said while sitting down beside me and putting an arm around me, “you need to calm down. You shouting at them isn’t going to fix this”

I looked at Esme, was this how she felt when she knew about me and Edward? That Edward had fallen in love with a human instead of another vampire. But this was different. I could be turned so I could stay with Edward forever, I was turned. But Jake was a werewolf, what will happen when he was going to start ageing again? Someday he is going to start ageing again and Nessie wont be. How could this end in anything other than my little girl’s heart being torn apart.

“Have you even thought about this?” I said more quietly but I couldn’t quite get rid of the angry sound in my voice. “Have you thought about what happens when Jake starts ageing again? Ness your going to out live him, have you thought about that?”

“Yes…well…umm we have thought of that and umm…we thought, well I thought, that once Jacob stops being a werewolf that maybe one of you could umm turn him”

For the first time Edward said something “Yes! Lets to that” he started walking towards Jacob “in fact, lets not wait till then shall we? I’ll do it right now!”

Emmett ran over to him to stop him walking towards Jacob, who was trying to back away from him, “Come on easy bro! Killing Jacob isn’t going to solve anything, all it will do is hurt Ness and you don’t want to do that do you?”

Edward looked at Nessie and then to me. I really didn’t think there was a way out of this, not without hurting Nessie anyway. For the first time since I became a vampire I felt sick to my stomach. There was a long silence, nobody knew what to say. Then Rosalie broke the silence.

“I don’t mean to bring this up, but, don’t we have a slightly bigger problem than a werewolf who cant keep his trousers on” Jacob looked as if he was about to argue then decided it was better if he kept quiet.

“Yes we do, the Volturi are going to notice that Aro, Jane and the other’s aren’t back soon” said Carlisle.

“I actually don’t think that’s a problem” smiled Alice.

“What do you mean that’s not a problem? Do you think we could take on the Volturi”

“No of course we couldn’t take on the Volturi, but, Aros plan to come visit was actually a last minute decision as they were heading somewhere else, they were just passing by. So, because they didn’t get to were they were going the rest of the Volturi will think that whoever they were going to punish killed them, they wont know they came here because they didn’t tell them. Were not in trouble, it will be months before anyone will notice there not back and by that time there scent will have completely faded away. Were safe!” everyone stared at her in disbelief. Surely we cant just get away with this!

“Alice” I asked slowly “Are you sure about that?”

“Of course im sure! I wouldn’t have said anything if I wasn’t sure” The rest seemed relieved with this, but me and Edward just looked at each other. Not having to deal with the Volturi meant that we had to deal with Jake and Nessie and neither of us wanted to do that.

“I think” Edward said “I think I need to go for a walk” he headed towards the back door. Nessie went up to him.

“Dad please” she begged “please just listen to me”

“I…I cant, not right now” and he left and jumped over the river and ran into the forest, I started to go after him.

“Mum….”

“I’ll talk to him Ness, but im not going to try to convince him this is a good idea”

It didn’t take long to catch up to him, he didn’t go far into the forest. He was sitting on a tree that has fallen down.

“Hey” I said as I walked up to him.

He looked up at me “hey”. We stayed silent for a long time. Neither of us knew what to say.

“What are we going to do?” I whispered crying tearlessly.

He looked back up at me and saw how upset I was, he stood up and walked over to me and took me in his arms.

“I don’t know” he said “I really don’t know, I don’t think there’s anything we can do. Not unless we want to lose Ness and neither of us want that”

“Its not right, she shouldn’t be marrying him, he’s not right for her! There not even the same species for god sake!”

He looked down at me and laughed “Are you really going to criticise them for that? Who was it that married a vampire when they were still human!”

He was making jokes and laughing has he gone completely insane?

“Why are you laughing? This isn’t funny”

“I know its not funny, but I’d rather think of this as some kind of sick joke. I think…I think were just going to have to let them do this”

“What?!” I couldn’t believe I was hearing him say this. He wanted to rip Jacobs head off 10 minutes ago.

“Do you want to lose Ness? Cause I don’t, and if we shove that dog away she goes with him!”

“Your right”
“Of course im right” he smiled “im always right”

“Not always” I said smiling back at him.

“Well…most of the time”

I laughed “So were really going to let them get married then? And what are we going to do when Jake starts aging again? We cant turn him”

“I don’t know what were going to do then” he said seriously “I’ve never know of a werewolf who wanted to be turned into a vampire. Then again, I never knew of a human wanting to be a vampire either” he smiles down at me “I suppose its possible, I mean when he starts ageing again he is basically human, although, he will still have werewolf blood in him. We’ll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it I suppose”

I smiled at him “I love you so much” I laughed “there I was saying I wasn’t going to try and convince you that them getting married was a good idea and here you are, convincing me”

He laughed with me “Well that just proves im more grown up than you then”

“Umm excuse me, but I think you’ll find im a year older than you”

“Yeah by human years, im actually 91 years older than you”

I was going to argue back but he kissed me. If I could I’d spend all my time kissing Edward. If my heart was still beating I think it would have failed by how fast it would be travelling. He started to kiss me more passionately and my breath got faster. He kissed down my jaw and to my throat. I could feel him smiling, he knew what he was doing to me.

“Do you want to go back to the house?” he whispered “Or do you want to stay here?”

“I want to stay here” i whispered back and I pulled his face to mine again.
