Five Eclipse Novel Scenes that Must be in the Movie
July 30, 2009 ·
Reelz has collected five scenes from the book Eclipse that they think must be in the movie, as well. They include character flashbacks and Chapter 22, Fire and Ice, but here is one I can’t wait for–
Character Flashbacks
In Eclipse, we finally get to hear Jasper's and Rosalie's stories. Jasper's crescent-like scars are explained and we see him meeting Alice for the first time. Rosalie's past is a little more dramatic, with a nasty fiancé and his friends all but killing her. Keeping these chapters in the movie will allow for some awesome historical scenes, and might even gain Rosalie some fans. Plus, Jasper's story is kind of crucial to Eclipse — it explains newborns and the older vampire's allegiance to the Volturi.
Chapter 15 "Wager"
This chapter has everything: Jacob kissing Bella against her wishes, Bella punching Jacob and breaking her hand, and Edward gallantly stepping up to defend his woman. Here's hoping Melissa Rosenberg writes this whole chapter into the screenplay — especially Edward's "If you ever kiss her again, I will break your jaw for her" line. There's no doubt about it: Theater audiences would swoon.
Chapter 22 "Fire and Ice"
In this fan-favorite chapter, Edward and Jacob have a man-to-man talk and come to a Bella-related compromise. They're not quite friends, but they're almost there and no longer want to rip each other's head off. Any scene that will allow Robert Pattinson to talk about Edward's jealousy and love for Bella is bound to be a crowd pleaser. We can already hear the contented sighs from his legions of female fans as he stares moodily into the camera...
Bella's Proposal Acceptance
In chapter 20, "Compromise," Bella finally agrees to marry Edward after a long discussion about demands, immortality, and the losing of one's virtue. Fans were ecstatic when Bella finally answered their prayers and committed herself to Edward — their only question was, what on earth took her so long?
The Final Fight with Victoria
There's an awesome showdown at the end of Eclipse, which sees Victoria and her newborn army up against the wolves and the Cullens. There's action, suspense, surprise ... everything a good battle needs. It's arguably the best action scene in the whole of The Twilight Saga and will give the guys a reason to keep watching. Hot female vampires and an undead death or two — what more could they want?
You left me standing there
You didn't even care
You just walked away
I felt so scared
You never even looked back at me
So unaware of how cruel you could be
I was always there
Did you ever care?
Did you ever care for me?
Did you ever believe in me?
Did you ever love me?
Did you? Did you? Did you?
You didn't have to fall
I didn't need your tears
I didn't want your pity
Just any feeling at all would have been sufficient
I never felt so small, so insignificant
You left me naked with nothing at all
How could I be so blind?
Did you ever care for me?
Did you ever believe in me?
Did you ever love me?
Did you? Did you? Did you?
Falling down
Darkness surrounds me
I open my eyes
I bow my head and cry
Did you ever believe in me?
Did you ever even love me?
Did you ever care for me?
Did you ever believe in me?
Did you ever love me?
Did you? Did you? Did you?
MTV.com has new interviews from some of our favorite Cullen’s: Peter Facinelli (aka Carlisle Cullen), Ashley Greene (aka Alice Cullen), Kellan Lutz (aka Emmett Cullen), and Nikki Reed (aka Rosalie Hale).
They all tell MTV what their favorite Eclipse scenes are -
‘Eclipse’ is my favorite book, so I’m actually really excited for people to see that one,” Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen, told MTV News. “The Cullens get to roll up their sleeves and really get into the mix of things. They’re usually so restrained all the time, and I think people love the ['Twilight'] baseball scene because you got to see them actually do what they can do as vampires, and in ‘Eclipse’ it’s that to the 10th power. You get to see them be what they can be as vampires.”Fellow Cullen Ashley Greene is also keen on displaying Alice Cullen’s skills. “I’m really excited to see my fight sequence,” she said. “There’s some playful moments between Jasper and Alice that I’d like to see. They take parts of your character and put it into your fight sequence, so mine’s kind of a Cirque du Soleil-ish sequence, so I want to see it.”
Kellan Lutz looks forward to seeing the results of his hard work preparing to send Emmet into battle. “We went through the six weeks of fight training … and they trained us so well that we just dominated our choreography moves,” he shared. “And they’re going to look really cool.”
But while everyone seems excited to duke it out, Nikki Reed is most looking forward to sharing Rosalie’s tragic backstory. “Well, Jackson [Rathbone] and I, we both had the opportunity to shoot our backstory, so I shot an entire sequence in the 1930s,” she explained. “And it’s intercut between a really amazing scene and moment that I have with Bella. And Jackson sort of did the same. I think the fans will like that. I think they want to see the Cullens’ history. It gives me the opportunity to explain myself.”
Holy Eclipse news day! lol We’ve had tons of updates I’m totally looking forward to Eclipse. But could someone PLEASE have the leg hitch scene as their favorite?! That way we know for sure it was filmed!
Director Chirs Weitz talked with MTV about some DVD details for New Moon which will be release in the first quarter of 2010.
“There will be a commentary track,” Weitz revealed, saying that he’ll soon head into the recording booth with his three big stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. “It’ll just be us riffing off each other in our intimate way,” he grinned. “We kind of like each other, so that should be fun.”
There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material,” he explained, promising some meaty footage. “It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans.”Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows were shot but did not make the final “New Moon” cut, including:
»A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car, snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the nomadic vampire.
» A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.
»Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward’s car.
»More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.
» An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.
» Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick’s Jessica.
The commentary track on Twilight DVD was my favorite. I’d rather watch Twilight with the commentary on because I thought Rob was hilarious. “Let’s be simple about this guys.” LOL! I cannot wait to hear Rob, Kristen, Taylor and Chris on the commentary.
One of the first things I noticed after watching New Moon was the Victoria scene in the car was cut. There’s a picture in the New Moon Companion Book. I can’t wait to see all the deleted scenes in the DVD!
