While you don't have to watch the cult classic
Donnie Darko(Jake Gyllenhaal) to fully get S.Darko (note: FULLY GETTING either of these movies is highly unlikely), it helpsin understanding some of the time travel aspects. As every bit as dark, doom, and gloom as the first movie S. Darko is DEFINATELY a sequel. Though it doesn't have as many twists and turns it still leaves you hanging like the first, Daviegh Chase reprises her role as Samantha Darko The Sparkle Motion member and little sister of Donnie. Jackson is simply priceless as a loveable (yet admittadely creepy) sci-nerd and FYI he wears his trademark nerd chic glasses...hmmm did he bring them to filming or take them home? And he is somewhat reminiscent of Robert as Daniel in the Bad Mother's Handbook. By far THE best part is in front of the dress shop, Ed Westwick getting headbutted by our Jackson-nerd...YES PLEASE!!
I will say that this movie is NOT for people who don't like to think while watching movies, it's more for those who enjoyed Donnie Darko and The Butterfly Effect (Ashton Kutcher). If you enjoy movies where you find something new each time you watch it's for you. Granted this movie does leave you wanting more...Jackson that is. Though his is a pivotal role (as anyone who has seen Donnie will attest EVERY role is pivotal) he has few scenes but more lines than his Twilight role.
I give this movie 4 out of 5 apples on my Twi rating scale.
