here's how we'll start off:

I woke up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Ugh. Bright sun. I pushed myself out of my bed and closed the curtains. I checked the time. 6:00 AM. I tiptoed quietly into my parent's room. Nothing. Slowly, I crept down the stairs. Surprisingly, everyone was already down there. I looked around, and my eyes landed on my mother's face. "Momma?" I asked. "What's going on?"
