Morgaine-- Thanks I might try Netflix. I abot rented the 1st 2 epis ot Blockbuster the other day. But they are always out when I get there. So I might just go buy the whole 1st season this weekend. I started Dead to the World ( 4th book) yesterday.
Australia, wow that sounds exciting. Pick up a couple of the books. I just can't seem to put them down. They're fantastic!!! Have a safe trip girl.

Christine--I think there are major vampire themes in storylines that tend to get repeated.

If you get down to it, the Frank Langella Dracula movie in the 70's or 80's was the first time an actor really played a vampire as tragic, romantic,gothic, extremely sensual and sexy. If you haven't seen it, rent it from NetFlix...yes, the photography is dated but Frank Langella is pretty danged hot, and very romantic.

There is this one creepy part where he climbs the walls outside of his true love's bedroom (4 stories up), and the way he does it is sooo eery. It had me looking over my shoulder for a week! LOL, and half the time I hoped he'd be there.

Tina--Join Netflix. You can usually get a 30-day free trial. Then rent all of Season 1 (not saying you shouldn't buy them, but in the meantime you can watch them from Netflix.

I totally GORGED on them...I mean, I ripped through the episodes. They are so danged good.

I usually read the books first before I see a show or movie, but in this case I did it the other way around. Busy now, but I'm going to Australia in a few weeks, 13-hour plane trip each way, so I'll pick up a few to read on the flights.

Petra--It's all good, darlin'. I had tried vampfiction before (years ago) but it was really bad. So I knew I was going to see Twlight (movie) so read the book first...and the rest is history.

Twilght opened up the door to other vamp fiction. And i'm sure it's been the opposite for other people, too (they read some other vampfiction, liked it, so decided to try Twilight).

There's no competition. It's really kind of supportive of the different franchises.

I wonder if SM and the other authors get around and yak about dealing with their vampire charaters, etc.? THAT would be cool to watch.

i watch true blood weekly it's really good but i've notice a simularities between true blood and twilight kight just in the script...for those of you who watch and are 18+cause that's the rating for true blood

Yes there are books. Sookie Stackhouse Novels. Try them, you'll like them.
I haven't watched True Blood yet but I heard there are differences in the books and the show but it does follow w/ the books in the show.

ok so i got the 1st episode on itunes and there r somethings in there that none should ever see so i kinda got ride of it like delited it and i sooooooo sisnt know that there were books cuz i absoulutly love to read!!!!!! so its just like true blood thats it thats the title or is it something eas!!!!????

Finally....
found a True Blood group.
I haven't seen the show ( no HBO ) but I'm on the 3rd book in the series.
I love it.
I've been following bits and peices of the show on the net though. And I plan on buying the 1st season on dvd.
Glad to be part of the group. TTYS
