Permalink Reply by Edwards girl 101 on June 29, 2009 at 9:23am As some of you know I assume, I am trying to live a "vegan" lifestyle.
Recently I met someone who I really liked, sort of a love at first sight thing. Caleb is, well comparatively, (most of our kind are far younger than I) young for a vampire. He's only 180 years old, including his human life. (He was 30 when he was "changed").
Well I found my friend Caleb, hunting humans here where I reside at. Now please try to understand, I do not think it right for me or anyone else to presume to tell another how to conduct their affairs during their own existence.
But I myself do not hunt humans, well I try very hard not too at least.
Even before I began trying to follow the Vegan way of life, I never would allow others of our kind to do so here in the city where I reside either. You see because I maintain a permanent residence here in this city, if others of our kind do so, it puts me at risk of it's Human inhabitants becoming aware of our existence as well. So I have long had a policy as primogen here that only I hunt here, and only then, in a very very limited way.
So despite the fact that I would normally just as a matter of course, immediately hunt down, and destroy those of our kind I find hunting here. Unless they are very very old, and stronger than I, in wich case I would leave and move on to another city.
When I went out the other night, I was only a few blocks from my residence when I heard a human scream. So I went to investigate and found Caleb drinking.
I almost attacked him and destroyed him there on the spot. But I was able to refrain and restrain myself, and simply returned home to the manor here to "think".
Ultimately when Caleb returned, being all apologetic talking about how he "just could not help himself" and how he had done what he did "without thinking". I told him to leave, and then made sure he did.
Do you think that was the right thing to do? Or should I pay him a visit and try to patch things up?
Normally I wouldn't even second guess myself like this. But I have missed Caleb, and been a bit lonely without his companionship. It was so nice to have someone after so long I could talk to, and share things with,,,,But on the other hand I simply cannot allow or risk exposure to the humans due to the actions of others.
