Hello, I am Dr. Carlisle Cullen. I am a medical doctor and I have practiced medicine for over 200 years. I was turned into a vampire in 1663 on a witch/vampire/werewolf hunt in England with my father. I do not know my birthday, as you can well imagine, it's been quite some time since I last had a birthday. I have the ability to resist human blood- but of course, not without over 200 years of torturous effort... I suppose one could say my "power" is Compassion- it brings me happiness. Like everything else in life, I just had to decide what to do with what I was given. My children are Edward, Bella, Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper and Alice. My granddaughter is Renesmee and my beautiful, breathtaking, incredible, amazing wife, Esme Cullen and I have been married for over 80 years, and I love her to the very pit of my stone heart that will never beat again. But it beats with the love that we have for each other.
True love never dies... especially for our kind.
Here is my story:
My father was a cruel, evil man, and there aren't many things that I can say to express the cruelty and lack of compassion he had.
He was an Anglican pastor, during a time of witch and monster hunts, in which my father would lead. I never liked them, because I knew who my father was killing: innocent humans.
Until one night...
I walked out of my bedroom into my father's study to see if he needed any aid in preparing for the night ahead. Little did I know that tonight would be the last night I would ever see my father.
We headed out for the hunt, and my father had sent me out to inspect the area, I suppose one could say. So, as his son, I did so.
I walked through the chilling foliage of outer London, until I came across something very strange. A woman, crouched over on the ground, feeding on something... I couldn't make out exactly what it was, so I crept nearer, only to see that she had been feeding on a small child. I hadn't any idea what she had been doing to him, but then it occurred to me that the child was dead and lifeless and the woman had drunk him dry. As soon as she heard me, her wispy brown hair flung around and hung from her eyelashes. And under those eyelashes, I saw the red, blazing, heated eyes locked on my panic stricken face. The next thing I remember was the burning agony searing through me as I fell to the ground. The pain was worse than anything I had ever felt in my entire existence. It started in my neck, making it's way to my chest, my torso, my hands and feet, mild at first for what it was. But I had to get out of the open, for I knew my father and the village would never welcome me back home after what I was about to become. I got my mind out of a fog for a moment or two, and drug my writhing body toward a potato patch nearby. The pain increased, searing through my entire being, tearing through me, so I could not go on. But I tried to cover my cries of agony, when I snapped out of it, long enough to drag myself to the potato patch. I hid under it for the next 3 days while the change was happening.
Until... one morning, the light was bright. The pain had stopped, and I stood up from the potato patch, to reveal myself as a newborn vampire...
