100 Monkeys, Skout's Honor & Suddenly Seymour
After arriving at Plea for Peace we were shocked that the 100 Monkeys would play at a venue like that. We waited outside in the cold for a half an hour to be let into a place that is mostly standing room. After another good half hour of waiting Suddenly Seymour came out to play for us. He reminded all of us of Apollo our friend from Goodnight Juliet. After his set we were introduced to Skout's Honor. A much heavier sound somewhat like a Green-day/blink 182 sound. Their music was a bit much for my sedate taste, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them, clapping and cheering along. They were quite funny and offered up free cd's to everyone. Even the drummer was singing for them. That was pretty awesome. 2 hours later we get our first glimpse of 100 Monkeys. Oh My God Jackson Rathbone has the most dazzling smile I've ever seen. Lots of different instruments and each of them can play them! That was really unique and interesting to me. Wind chimes, flutes, keyboards and harmonicas. Absolutely cool! The spring on the kick for the drum broke and the 100 Monkeys had to borrow a kick from Skout's Honor.
While they were fixing the kick they sang an improv song called the Kick blues which turned into Jackson's couldn't wake up this morning blues *Laughs* Ben was astounding and the lyrics are just off the wall but so much fun! I decided suddenly I wanted to dance with the giant banana and so of course I went and did it. His name is Marty and he didn't have any juice but he was pretty awesome and we danced and laughed for like 30 minutes! During the last song he told me he would kill me in my sleep if I didn't try try to keep awake. Amazing! Uncle Larry was masterful with the flute and chimes and they were all so awesome!! Truly Talented musicians. I went to see Jackson and fell in love with the whole band! Although I think Marty is my second favorite person in it! As we waited to see if Jasper/Jackson was going to come out and play I talked to so many people. Once they told us no they weren't coming out we still hung out and waited. As Jackson ran out the door Felicia asked if she could get a picture. He said "Give ma minute" and got into his car and left! But she touched and talked to him!! So Awesome! To all of our credit when Jackson walked out on stage NO ONE SCREAMED!! We all were squealing on the inside though I'm sure!!
100 Monkeys ROCKED Stockton!! Come on Back Soon Boys!!
