A question to all Christian Twilight fans(If you are one--if not,you dont have to comment)
I saw Eclipse and I was amazed.I have never seen a better movie adapted from a book,they did an incredible job.This director really did his homework.Afterwords, I got to thinking about something and I would like everyones opinion.It's not just about Eclipse,its about the entire series in general,especially the last book-Breaking Dawn.Now,here is the question-As a Christian,do you think the series had a happy ending or a sad ending and why?I see it as a very sad and tragic ending.From Bella's point of view,she didn't seem to care whether she was putting her soul in jeopardy or not by asking Edward to turn her into a vampire,all she cared about was being with him. She put Edward above God and the value of her immortal soul.And as a Christian,I think that is wrong.If Edward had not given into the temptation to turn Bella,Yes,she would have died.But,Edward and the Cullens would have still been able to find a way to save themselves from the vampire curse.The entire reason Carlisle raised the Cullens the way he did-not drinking human blood was because he believed in God and that they still had a chance for redemption despite what they were.But by Edward turning Bella,he went against everything the Cullen family stands for and what he swore he would never do. That put ,both his and Bella's soul in jeopardy. Even if they all became mortal and died,Bella and Edward would still have spent eternity in heaven with eachother.I know what you all are thinking- "By Edward turning Bella, they will spend eternity on earth with eachother." Well, earth won't even last forever.Surely, vampires, of all people, know that. What happens after the earth passes away? And what is the point of spending eternity with the one you love if you spend it in a place where love does not exist(Hell)? On top of that,they still have Renesmee. They would still live on through her.Thats what children are all about--a peice of each parent living on.THAT is true immortality.Unlike the rest of the Cullens,Bella had a CHOICE and made it the moment she met Edward,long before she was about to die. So just because Edward did it to "save her life" is irrelavent. She had already made the choice long before that,forgetting her soul.I didnt,particularly like the way Rosalie treated Bella.But, I agreed with her on one thing. She said "Bella,you still have a choice and you're choosing wrong. There is one thing you will want more than Edward. One thing you'll kill for-blood." I think she was right. And Bella just blew it off.When you think about it-Bella, is the "villain" of this story. Unlike other vampire stories,where the vampire is trying to corrupt the human and steal his or her virtue, Bella is trying to corrupt Edward by manipulating him to go against everything he believes he should not do-1. sleep with her before marriage and 2. Turn her into a vampire. What does everyone think?I'd just like to say,this does not change the way I feel about Twilight,I still love it.But as Christians,this is WHY we should love it.Because makes us think about the most valuable lesson of all--the value of our souls.

Frist, brave move posting this question. Second, I haven't seen the movie (YET). Third, I believe that to give a responsible answer ppl need to have the knowledge of the meaning of soul. For that they need to study, for themselves, what God says about it. The only way to do it is to go to the source the Bible. And I know ppl read the saga (4 books) like 3 times but wont read the Bible just one time. (**including myself**). Fourth, I don't get the meaning to discuss this since is fiction, entertainment. There is a need of something real to based your believes, and since vampires do not exist, is not relevant to anybody point of view. Something like this is NOT going to happen to anybody. Now if there is a topic about what affects the body, the way of thinking, the spirituality of any given person that can give the opportunity of choice, then is worth discussing.

GBY.First of all,since you don't even approve of the fact that I posted this discussion,I don't know why you bothered to comment.You clearly don't think its relavent.And I specifically said "If you are not a Christian,you do not have to comment".Secondly,as a Christian,I believe that,even fiction,can be spiritually damaging if people take it too far--and some people do.Why did you bother to comment if you don't even think it's a relavent topic of discussion?the only the only reason I can think of is to start an argument.I respect your opinion and you're beliefs,but you insist on commenting on something you have no interest in,and for what?I do understand the meaning of a soul because I do read the bible,and I love Twilight because the Cullens take the soul into consideration.As opposed to other vampire stories in which the vampires could care less whether they are condemning the person they "turn" or not.But please,if you dont agree,don't comment just for the sake of argument.

This is the thing, vampires are NOT real. Do they have a soul? As a Christian I would think if you try to do the right thing and believe in God you have a soul. Bella and Edward didn't have sex till they were married, the don't feed on humans and Edward def. believes in God or he wouldn't hesitate on changing Bella. I think that Breaking Dawn has a very good ending. It is a fictional book so we don;'t really have to worry about their souls.

Yes Sarah,I understand it's fiction.But even fiction has lessons--for good or for bad.And I also believe they still have a soul.But I also think that when they decide to disregard their soul for the sake of love,they throw their souls away.As a Christian,I would think you would have rather seen Edward and the Cullens find a way to break their vampire curse and,through that,find a way for Bella and Edward to be together without worrying about putting their souls in jeopardy.Like I said,yes Bella would have died if Edward had not turned her but atleast he would have saved what humanity he had left in him(his soul) and THAT is what would live for ever.Thats how he would be able to be with Bella for eternity.Again,I know it's fiction.But I think we,as Christian's should always look at fiction from this perspective.

How would you go about breaking a vampire curse? Carlisle must have lost his soul for turning Edward, Esme, and Rosalie. Lets just say they were all forgiven, we do have a forgiving God afterall. By the grace of God they were let into heaven and thats our happily ever after.

They can break the curse by not giving into their thirst for human blood.As they have done,except for when they think they are "saving" someone by turning them.Edward understands that concept--that they are not "saving" anyone,they are damning them.So if they would stick to what they call their "vegeterian diet" and vow never to turn anyone else,that would be enough to break the curse.Like you said,we have a forgiving God--but WE have to make the effort.Gods' grace is sufficient for those willing to be faithful

Sarah,I love Twilight.I'm not saying reading and enjoying it is wrong.I just wish,Stephanie Meyer(as a woman of faith herself-Mormon) should have ended it a bit differently.And used MORE of her Mormon belief in it.It would still be fiction but it would be fiction with a more possitive message.I only bring this up because that TINY hint of faith and dignity Steph Meyer instilled into the story is what got me interested in Twilight in the first place,She opened a door for future authors to turn fiction into something that can touch peoples' lives in a positive way.

TwilightTrinity I did NOT say that i dont approve your posting. I say that you are very brave bcz there are ppl that do not want to talk about religion, believes and God. I AM a christian, I believe in that everybody has the opportunity of choose for salvation. This is a decision that is totally personal and HAS to be base in the caution study of the Bible. I have NEVER meant to start an argument. I just post my opinion as your request. The other thing that I meant is that there is a need to be RESPONSIBLE of a knowledge to be able to have that decision. The salvation of the soul is a real thing NOT a fictional thing. I know there is the use of fiction, Jesus used parables, but to teach the every day situation in life and the interaction of one with others. But for the salvation of the soul, THAT is real and serious. Other thing is that when I write this NEVER use the word YOU as referring to you personally bcz I dont know you, so I cant use it. I use words the referred the a general ppl.
I apologize if my opinion make you mad or uncomfortable. I believe that I was reasonable and cautious with what I said.
