An internet poll where New Moon is NOT winning..

As I'm checking my daily websites I see this poll at the bottom of Entertainment Weekly's website: "What's the Must movie sequel of 2009?"

"Angels & Demons"
"Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince"
"Terminator Salvation"
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"
"The Twilight Saga: New Moon"

Guess who's NOT winning???

I like HP, I mean I really do, who doesn't love magic? And I really get excited when I hear that Transformers "morph, morph, morph" sound, I mean that's the coolest thing...but...

I think I read somewhere that Twilight fans are all over internet polls, I say lets get to it! LOL

Impossible. The hits on the New Moon trailer was over 5 million two hundred thousand - How much more interest could there be. The Twi-fans must be sleeping. :)

OK New Moon is not winning 34% and Harry Potter 48% but at least New Moon is not last. So Twi-Fans, do your stuff and just remember MTV Awards - we did that. :)

The gym I go to has about every trash magazine published. While reading Entertainment Weekly--which is not a trashy magazine, but follows film industry trends, box office placement of movies, etc. , I was shocked to read a letter to the editor that voiced disappointment in the track NM is taking.

In a letter to the editor, the writer was glad they had such a nice spread of Twilight/NM/KS/RP the previous week, but was horrified at the difference in the world that Stephanie Meyers created in the books (and which Catherine Hardwicke portrayed in Twilight) and what the new director was showing in NM.

This is not the first time I've read this opinion--and I have said it often myself. But it's one thing to read it on a fan site or random blog, and another to see it in print in Entertainment Weekly.

I don't think all of Twilight fans will continue to be interested in the Twilight movie series if NM is so much different than the books.

Movies are always different than the books because movies can't possibly put in all of the stuff of the book. That's understandable. But the heart of the story, and the reality created by the author, need to survive the transition from book to movie intact. For a director to completely ignore the world that Meyer created, and turn the Cullen house into a trite cliche-vampire deal, complete with dark wood, dim lighting (by candles!!), and rooms that look exactly like the layout of a funeral parlor, is completely without reason.

Meyers wrote the Cullens home as a light, airy, ALIVE home, with huge windows, open to the vibrantly alive forest that surrounds the house. In that way she provided a vivid example of how the Cullens are different from other vampires, and the Cullens being different is one of the foundation stones of the entire story.

And don't even get me started on the goth vampire-campy costumes. The trailer that shows Rosalie coming down the stairs in a dress that the Rosalie in the Twilight books would never have worn--did they get it at a used costume sale from the old Vampira show?

I don't understand how Weitz thought he was going to "improve" a movie that made $382million world-wide, and that made most Twilight book fans happy enough to see it many times. But if he thinks he can "improve" it into turning it into just another campy "Underworld" rip-off, I really question his judgment.

So I think we need to get used to hearing negative things about NM, and to see it not getting the huge obsessive buzz from fans like Twilight did.

To reply to what Morgaine said...not trying to bash, just conversatin‘…you have some valid points but here is the thing, this fan base is INTENSE and everyone involved with the movie knows that. The film makers are under so much pressure to get it right by us..US! not some big studio exec, its us, the fans, they do what they do with us in the for front, and that’s…cool is not a proper word, there is no proper word. So whatever I can do to get it to be on the top of anyone’s list, I will do.

I read many interviews where Chris (and the rest of the cast as well) said he would consult with Stephanie all the time, and for me if the author gives her ok, and is involved, that just the bees knees (aka: sweet!) It has always been my opinion that if you write it you need to direct it or it will not be what it was supposed to be, but with this, Stephanie knows she is a writer, she leaves the directing to people experienced in that field, and when they need help they go to her, as she is an expert in her field, so the collaboration is all good.

I bet you if Twilight had the budget that New Moon has, it would be a totally different movie, well not different, but Catharine’s style to the max, but I think that she did fantastic and it could not have done any better, she set the tone and that is the springboard to all of this. Not all movies are the same, and not all books are the same…And its art, everyone has an opinion, that’s the beauty of it, the beauty of this site and the responsibility of publications like EW to respect folks opinions, even if that means printing a negative response.

But for me, I will not allow myself to give into any negativity surrounding New Moon or the Actors or Director. I’m just so beyond stoked that I am apart of this fan base, and apart of something that stirs up emotions and makes my dreams come to life :)
