All fan hype aside, New Moon was bad. Real bad. Will that fact be taken into consideration at all while they make the next films of the franchise? Will they aim to improve?
—Pique Santos

Of course not.

When you make millions of dollars in the first eight seconds of a sequel's release, you don't change a thing. You keep the heroine as much of a doormat as she's always been and the hero as immortal and upset about that fact as ever. Eclipse has already wrapped of course, but Breaking Dawn has yet to start shooting, and there is always room for improvement, even in a fiction series that seems utterly perfect to any girl under 16.

Here are my suggested improvements for the movie (or two, or three, or however many they make), humbly submitted hereto for Team Breaking Dawn.

And yes, sorry, THERE ARE SPOILERS, for those who have not purchased Breaking Dawn and lovingly stroked it to death...

Lose the werewolf-on-baby love story.
In the book, Jacob falls in love with a baby soon after it pops out of mother Bella. Jacob apparently doesn't want to romance the baby right there, but it's his soul mate, all right. For some vague reason I cannot quite put to words, the movie should probably lose that bit. You are welcome, Taylor Lautner.

Two words: Stunt casting.
Cast Angelina and Brad as the elegant European nomad vampires. You know it makes sense.

And while we're at it...
Why not try Megan Fox as the accuser Irina? She does, after all, have to get dismembered by a pack of angry vampires. If not, hey, this is a chick franchise, what about you, SJP?

Hire another director.
The best movies know when to stray from book source material and when to stick to it. New Moon director Chris Weitz got much praise from fans for sticking to the book, but that doesn't mean he made a good movie. In fact it means he made a pretty mediocre movie. I'm sure Peter Jackson (heck, or even Tim Burton or Kathryn Bigelow) would know exactly what to do with that part in Breaking Dawn where Edward and Bella have sex so crazy that she passes out. And when in doubt, add a hobbit.

Rethink the genre.
Michael Sheen steals the screen whenever he's on it as Volturi vampire Aro. Make the honeymoon and pregnancy part of Breaking Dawn really short, and the Volturi trial part of the story really, really long. Make it a courtroom drama if you have to; bring in a resurrected vampire Matlock if you must, but do it.

An all-Dakota Fanning cast.
Forget that vampire who can grab someone's skull and kill with the touch of his hands; everybody can kill with their hands. Put in another little girl vampire who can make you feel pain with her eyes. You can never have too many Janes. Given how interesting Dakota Fanning was in the three seconds she was in New Moon, heck, all the Volturi vampires should be Dakota Fannings.

Isn't the reason why we loved new moon so much is beacause it was a lot closer to the book? Even though every part was't the same it was fairly close. Dakota Fanning is a great actress but she's just a big name not a big character. Beaking Dawn is my favorite book in the series and all the changes you were talking about I thought was to much. That's just my opinion and I think Chris Weitz and the cast are amazing.

i do agree... NM wasnt as good and i truly believe that kstew did a poor job and that means that we do need a better director to show her what to do... i love the saga and im in love with the movies as well but i do think that BD needs 2 be better... Tim Burton sounds amazing...lets b honest, not bcuz we love twilight and the movies we are going 2 blind ourselves to the riality... i really hopw eclipse is better.. cuz its my fav book.. and btw i think chris did a gr8 job with the wolves..

I thought the film stuck quite well to the book, but I think that the wolves looked more animated than they should've.

so Luna..... i can see where you would see the need for improvement, but I don't agree with ANY of the suggestions you proposed. ESPECIALLY the big names/big director thing. Big time directors think they can just come in and do whatever the hell they want and twist the movie to something completely different. and big name actors would just make the movie cliche or jokey. it would take away from the story. the genre doesn't need to change because the story has already been written. it's just being adapted to film. this isn't a brand new movie without a script or plot that you can just keep adding stuff to or changing however you want. these directors have a responsibility to make a visually stimulating movie adaptation of these wonderful books and be respectful of stephanie meyers' vision. and as some people have said, this is NOT a vampire/thriller/horror film. it is a love story involving vampires. there's a HUGE difference. and taking renesmee and jacob's connection out of the film would be absolutely obsurd because that is one of the biggest key points in breaking dawn. i agree it could be creepy if not done right but i'm sure whoever directs the film will have that in mind.
on a side note- i also did not feel the same uncanny connection between edward and bella as i did in twilight. or as it was portrayed in the books. i also agree with the make-up being a little over the top. but other than that i do think that chris weitz did a good job. but for some odd reason i am not feeling the overwhelming power that the twilight saga used to intill in me. which makes me really sad but i'm hoping to regain my passion for this series when eclipse comes out in june. i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a mind-blowing movie experience! :) can't wait

ps. i totally disagree about kristen acting poorly. i think she had one of the best performances in new moon. taylor was absolutely AMAZING! he KILLED that role. but i actually didn't think that robert did as good a job in new moon. i was a little disapointed. because i LOVE robert pattinson. so anywho.... that's my bit.
