My oh my.... Seems like our Hollywood "It" girls are battling for the lead role in the new film adaptation of Steig Larsson's best selling novel, THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

The film sees Fight Club director David Fincher looking for an edgy rising star to fill the shoes of tattoo-covered computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. Currently a Swedish cinematic hit, the film is being re-made for english-speaking audiences and it seems the Twilight and An Education stars fit the bill for this production.

A studio exec said, "It's an edgy, sexy, demanding role which would have been perfect for Angelina Jolie - if she was only ten years younger." Mulligan and Stewart's position on the Hollywood hot list - and label as the new Angelina - speaks volumes about their career prospects. "The very best twentysomething actresses around today are in the frame", added the studio insider, "and that's a very short list".

Let's just hope the best win the prize, for me, I'd love to see Kristen play this role ;) Will be a change from her previous roles... Anyone have read the novel yet? I'm a bit curious here....
