Catherine Hardwicke "Little Red Riding Hood" Trailer + Interview with The Hero Complex

'Little Red Riding Hood' is Catherine Hardwicke's next upcoming movie. The new trailer debuts today.

“Wouldn’t it be cool to do a Gothic twist on Red Riding Hood, with the wolf being a werewolf, and just have a cool, sexy romantic thriller?” says Catherine.

RK: After making “Twilight,” where fans felt such ownership over the story, is this a film in which you can create your own visual world?

CH: I think so. There’s so many versions of Red Riding Hood. It goes back 700 years. It’s much more open to
interpretation. At the end of the fairy tale she’s saved by a
woodcutter. That’s one of the reasons why we have the houses all out of
heavy construction. We stayed true to the oldest telling of the stories
in a lot of ways. There’s a great book called [Bruno Bettelheim's] “The Uses of Enchantment,” delving
into the meaning and philosophy of fairy tales and why these stories
have endured and gotten under our skin. That was very inspiring to me.

RK: Who are the men competing for Red Riding Hood’s affections?

CH: One of them is Peter, played by Shiloh Fernandez. She feels he is her soul mate, but he’s had more of a troubled past.
They love each other but that’s not the way her mother wants Amanda’s
life to go. She wants her daughter to have a better life and arranges a
marriage with Henry, who’s played by Max Irons, the son of Jeremy Irons. He’s a very striking-looking kid, as is Shiloh, who’s very soulful. Shiloh was my runner-up for Edward in “Twilight” but he and Kristen [Stewart] didn’t have the instant chemistry lock that is now well-known.

This reminds me of a Fanfiction Cross over actually. Reminds me of Twilight a lot. Looks like a good movie though.

This looks great!! Looks a lot better visually then twilight. It looks like she had more money for this film. Glad to see Catherine doing another great movie!

I hope all the Twilight fansites get behind Catherine and go see this movie. I read several reviews at the IMDB site and a lot of them say, in a degrading tone, that after seeing the trailer they were afraid it was going to be like a Twilight film. Those are fighting words. What's wrong with making a movie as good as a Twilight film? Let's all support Catherine.Oh, and I think I read a while back that Billy Burke is playing the part of Little Red's dad.

Twilight was a good movie. I think it was the best in content. Perhaps not in image as she didn't have money, but it was the most arsty of the three so far and it was more character driven instead of obessing on the special effects. Thats why Rob and Kristen agreed to do it in the first place. I love indie movies and Twi was supposed to be just another indie movie. Not to be a downer but the last two movies, Summitt had its head so far up its ass it forgot the story just a little.
