It's actually Melissa Rosenberg who is pulling for Channing to play Riley, David Slade has not commented on it at all. Melissa says "There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well.” She talked to E! about it at a book festival in LA this weekend where she was doing a script signing.

I imagined Riley younger(about 20) and more innocent looking so i dont think he fits the part,but who knows!
