Twifans Want to Know: Why is Bella's Engagement Ring on the Right Hand?

After seeing the a sliver of the new one-sheets that included a detailed view of Bella's engagement ring yesterday, fans started commenting and tweeting their worry as to why the ring is on the right hand and not the traditional left. Fans were already thinking we had our first movie mistake! You ask if this matters? Well, to TwiFans it does.

Fan speculation is that, the reason Bella would be wearing her engagement ring on the opposite finger would have to be due to the fact that no wedding band would fit along side the large oval engagement ring. Sorry Edward's Mom, the ring isn't perfect for an adjoining set. I admit that I never really thought about it. I just assumed that Bella's engagement ring was her wedding ring, until yesterday.

After much twitter debate, we decided it was time to ask a person that could ask the source, Jack Morrissey, partner to 'Breaking Dawn' director, Bill Condon.

TwiFans.com: Ask Bill about Bella's ring for us please: Does Bella wear both after the wedding or does she ditch the engagement ring? Twilight Examiner got confirmation that Bella moves her engagement ring to the right hand in the 1-shots we see tonight. Fans think that Bella removes the engagement ring in the honeymoon clip. See the confusion.

Jack Morrissey: She definitely removes it onscreen before she goes out to the beach with Edward, yes.

TwiFans.com: Thanks, but does she continue to wear two rings through-out the movie? #thatbethequestion

Jack Morrissey: Per Bill [Condon] just now, she wears both rings post-wedding, except for two scenes.

TwiFans.com: Now we can all over-analyze the scenes and TRY to decide those 2 [scenes].

Jack Morrissey: You already know them both.

It's the only possible excuse I can think about..... I cant think it´s a mistake because everybody can realize the ring isnt on the correct hand...soo they are professionals in their areas... Comment by Isabel Rodriguez on September 8, 2011 at 8:04pm: It's not a mistake everyone. Bella wears her wedding ring on her left hand and her engagement on her right. The engagement ring is such a size that it doesn't allow for a wedding ring to fit alongside it on one finger. PLUS, it would look terrible together. And Bella is smart to not wear the MULTI-DIAMOND encrusted ring to a waterfall, the beach, etc.

Comment by Kim on September 8, 2011 at 8:04pm: It's not a mistake bc we saw in the stills bella had a wedding band on her left hand, not the fancy engagement ring. So this explains it bc the engagement ring is too big to fit on her left hand with the wedding band. I just thought bella would have used the engagement ring as her wedding ring, i didn't think she would also have a band. I'm sure this will all be explained in the movie.

Comment by debbie dixon on September 8, 2011 at 10:17pm: In BD during Jacob's POV he mentions specifically seeing her wedding ring dangling off her finger because they are so skinny due to the pregnancy.I have a feeling that we will see continuity errors between early honeymoon scenes and later ones because wedding rings were only added when fans complained online.

The pose in the poster is from their honeymoon as they stand on the streets of Brazil during the festival. In videos shots of the shoot, Bella is wearing both rings, one on each hand. It's Edward who's not wearing his wedding ring. In an interview, Bill Condon explained that he had originally decided that Edward was going to be completely traditional from his era of 1918, when men did not traditionally wear wedding rings. Once reports came in that fans were panicking that Edward was not wearing a ring, Bill decided to change it for the sake of appeasing the fans. That's all.

I also know we'll see some inconsistencies in who has what ring when. That's a minor issue. I can't wait to see the STORY of BD. Just a couple more months....
