Eclipse Premiere: Street camping advice from the pros!!

When you are packing the car and are thinking what do I need to bring or have; reference this!

Kim, Dawn, Yolanda, and I are avid street campers and wanted to make sure your first experience on the streets to be a chic one. In this blog we will tell you what is really essential for survival and what is survival of the Twilight fittest.

Camping with a Twilight event is like one big slumber party. You will make friends. People will hold your spots to potty, eat , & shower. You will dislike anyone who tries to cheat the system together lol. <~wish that was a joke. Line holding is a BIG no no. 1 char does not make a spot for 10 coming later. The wolves will descend. Make sure you have a body for every spot.

The guards will keep a count of your group. They will walk the line over and over again to make sure there are no problems and that everyone is secure. Sometimes stars show up. They will only stay 5 minutes if you don't stay in line. If you stay in your spot and not treat them like they are the Beatles coming to America; they will walk the whole line. So for anyone that doesn't read this post....spread the word around you in camp.

When Alex Meraz surprised us in line late one night!!!

At some point we will be given a vague time that we will be let into the red carpet area. This can be off my an hour to two. make sure you have fluids, snacks, and sunscreen for this leg. I almost fainted from all the screaming. Something with electrolytes is a good idea. It will be a long day once you are in the red carpet area. You can't leave your spot from about 11 am till 8 p.m.. Make sure you have your autograph stuff ready. Make deals with the people in front of you to throw you stuff up front as soon as they get a photo or autograph. After days of camping people start to get real grumpy in the cramped quarters for hours. Try to stay positive. People will be complaining about their own height, your height, how far way from the carpet they are, your signs, the space between you and the friend next to you, and more. Be prepared for the younger ones to be very aggressive.

Picture of us getting our golden ticket!

Hotels....ummm yes you need one. We are not comic book boys that camp in the same clothes for 4 days. We shower, change, deodorize, etc. A hotel is important for the shower step and if you are in large enough groups you can possibly take turns getting to sleep in a bed. But for sleeping the hotel is not where most of your sleeping will be done.

Parking...the veterans will tell you this is the most important step. You want your car close to travel and to pack & unpack your belongings. At some point on the last day of camping, Summit will give you an hour to pack up your items. You want to be able to do this fast! Overnight parking will be hard to find that doesn't cost a fortune. ACE parking lots will work out deals for in and out privileges for the right $. So don't be afraid to talk details and negotiate.

Just to survive...

Your camping chair is your most prized possession. I am not gonna lie on day 4 of New Moon campy I got slightly possessive about my chair! This chair should be tall not short. It should be collapsible and comfy. Some chairs even have a shade feature (we don't like those cause it's hard to talk to someone standing).

We prefer the cot over the blow up mattress but the concrete is hard ladies, you do need something. The cot elevates you off the ground and can double as a couch when you aren't sleeping. The blow up mattress is comfy but if will have to be inflated and deflated everyday so that it doesn't block foot traffic. The cot is also elevated off the ground. Which is something we decided is good for a couple reasons that I won't detail. Keywords roaches & rats. <~no lie!

To be chic...

Handmade unique signs
Sign making station with magazines to cut, glitter, glue, letters, and markers
Profess your love for your team with standees
Swag table to share your stuff or to give handouts to friends
Board games to play with the friends you make in line

The four of us will see you in line again! Come say hi!

Does anyone recommend camping out to kids in their teens? (16,17) What was your personal experience? Thanks!

I don't like camping but it would be better since its nice and warm and not out in the forest!!!

Well I was actually talking about safety issues and stuff, but that's definitely a pro to camping on the streets- we're not in the forest!! Hahah
