Emma Watson says *Harry Potter, it's not Twilight, you know; we're not selling sex*

"British actress Emma Watson has said Harry Potter is “not selling sex” like the popular vampire film saga Twilight.
The 20-year-old star made the comment while talking about what it was like to film the kiss between her character, Hermione Granger and her co-star Rupert Grint's character, Ron Weasley.
Watson told Empire magazine: 'The kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it has been building up for eights years now.'
She added: 'And Harry Potter, it's not Twilight, you know; we're not selling sex, so when there is any hint of that, everybody gets terribly excited.'
Watson then revealed the kissing scene was 'horribly awkward' and that she couldn't stop laughing with 22-year-old Grint.
She said: 'Before we did it, we turned to each other and were like, 'God, this is going to be awful isn't it? But hopefully it will look good.''
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is due out later this year."
Um, I have bit of a issue with that statement.... first off, Twilight is actually NOT selling sex but quite the opposite. What Twilight and Stephanie Meyer's brought home was the whole concept of waiting until you fall in love and get married before you had sex. To take it a step futher, the sex in Twilight was meant to paint the picture of love, marriage and then children. I am sure if they wrote the Harry Potter books of all the characters in the future, there would be sex. It is the natural course of adulthood.

I also wanted to add - if she thinks that, then fine. She's entitled to her own opinion whether or not we agree with it. But mentioning it publicly when Twilight wasn't even mentioned is really rude and unprofessional. She did not have to bring up the name Twilight specifically and bash it in an interview. That just comes across to me as jealous, bitter, and rude. Especially since she has worked with Rob on the set of HP before. You'd think she'd at least have a little respect for him.

are you kidding!?! i can't believe that she said that...twilight is not selling sex, are you serious? that's so not true, twilight is a beautiful love story between two people that discover love together, and prove that with love everything is possible!!!so shut up Emma and don't be jealous that the twilight is better that harry potter and has better fans!!!!!!!!i still like harry potter but now i don't like Emma...Go TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg i cant beliave she said that i like the harry potter movies and i love the twilight saga i agree with rosa fallon cullen with what she said twilight is a love story and that is not selling sex its teaching kids that they must wait to have sex until they get married......so im just not gonna make a big deal about some actress who is clearly jealouse of the movies....

Wow, you guys are all over-reacting. All she meant was that Twilight is about romance and yes, it has a lot of steamy, sexy parts. Harry Potter doesn't have that. All she's saying is that a kiss is a really big deal in Harry Potter because it hardly ever happens. You guys are getting all worked up over nothing. You are all showing yourselves to be the "small minded" and "snotty" ones (to quote some of your comments) ... not her.

Um.......NEITHER is Twilight!!! She obviously hasn't read any of the books or seen the movies. There's NO sex until after marriage. And then it's about expressing love for someone& is sweet & pure & not at all like the other crap out there that's just about sex.
I HATE it when people try to compare TW & HP. They are TOTALLY different!!!

Damn, im a fan of both. I dont get why everyone who likes twilight is freaking out she was just basically pointing out that twilight is a romance novel and Harry Potter is a fantasy book. The romance in the movies is minimal so she's just pointing out it'll be a big deal for their franchise. No need for everyone to start bashing on emma or HP for no reason. I hate it when HP and twilight are compared they're completely different in so many ways! Harry Potter is at a whole different caliber then twilight. Rowling created a whole new world when she wrote harry potter. and HP has been with us for a generation and twilights been around for half. they're both good there's just no point in wasting your time comparing them. The twilight books were great im still unconvinced by the movies. the acting isn't that great. Most people who enjoy it just like it for the "hot" guys. deny what you want but it's the truth. im sure if HP casted some great looking guys who couldnt act all that well like twilight did most teenage girls would love it more too. Anyways they're both good. Can't be compared to each other. and no need to freak out on emma watson for one "bad" comment at least she's not a druggy or an alcoholic like Stewart and Rob
