As TwiFans around the world are anxiously awaiting the arrival of New Moon in November, they are also sitting on the edge of their seats to see who will be cast to play the key roles in the Twilight sequel. While many can sit back and relax now that their beloved Taylor will reprise his role as Jacob Black, others are anxious to see whether new director Chris Weitz will make the right choices for casting.
Last week, TwiFans were stirring as rumors circulated as to whether Dakota Fanning would be playing the evil, child-like Volturi vamp Jane. As the week progressed however, Fanning confirmed that she was in talks of being a member of the Twilight franchise, and sounded very eager to take on the role of Jane.
When I first read that she was in talks of becoming Jane, I was extremely excited. I think Fanning is a wonderful actress who has the face to pull of the evil Jane. But as the week went on, I read an interview that put some doubts into my head.
After gushing over the role of Jane and how excited she was to actually be in talks with the movie, Fanning said something that didn't quite sit right with me. Not only has she not finished the first Twilight book, but she hasn't even READ New Moon yet. How can she be so excited to play a role, when she doesn't even know who the character is, or how she ties into the movie?
After Twilight being such a great success, you would think that anybody wanting to be in the movie would be well educated on anything and everything Twilight. Not only does this make me kind of mad, but it makes me worried for New Moon. Are we going to see actors that are as in love with the series as its fans are? Or, are we going to see actors who just simply want to get a paycheck?
What do you all think?
