Film Critic Richard Roeper Says "Eclipse Represents One of the Most Astonishing Upgrades in Movie Franchise History"

High praise for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse from acclaimed film critic Richard Roeper. He calls Eclipse an infinitely better film then the 1st two & says it "represents one of the most astonishing upgrades in movie franchise history":

I completely agree & realized this the first time I saw Eclipse at the special fan screening in LA on June 14th. That's another reason why Alison & I were gushing & gushing to director David Slade when we met him at his autographing signing at Dark Delicacies in Burbank. It is an incredible upgrade! I also told him I wish he was directing Breaking Dawn. Here's hoping Bill Condon, who will be directing both Breaking Dawn films, will live up to what David Slade accomplished with Eclipse.

Comment by Alejandra on June 30, 2010 at 11:38pm: I can't believe I'm hearing more positive things from a critic than a twilight fan. I know there's a lot twifans that thought the movie was great, and I agree with them!!
I just needed a little reasurance that Eclipse it's the best movie of the three, and maybe there were some scenes that weren't as good as the book, or Bella's wig was awfull, whatever.
I'm just glad that Eclipse is getting positive responses as well. :)

Comment by Kim on June 30, 2010 at 11:49pm: Yeah before seeing Eclipse I was worried because of all the rumored problems & other stuff that went on like the wig & Victoria recast etc but it has all turned out amazingly! Even though it's not exactly like the book it's a wonderful movie & all involved with it can be proud as well as us fans.

Comment by michelle on July 1, 2010 at 12:17am: I get anoyyed when people say its not exactly like the book.. i think they put all the important parts in there and all of the cast did an AMAZING performance! Its not meant to have all the books content otherwise it will be a 4 hour film.. thats why the books are there to get a more detailed view of bella's perspective!! I have watched it twice(yep im a twihard) and i must say it STILL AMAZED me and it was even better the 2nd time (if thats even possible) I think david slade did an amazing job the whole movie was just what i wanted

Comment by Andrew'sAmy on July 1, 2010 at 12:43am: I totally agree. The first two movies sucked. Sorry if your opinion is different, but it's still true. Acting was studdered and awkward, musical choices did not flow with the scenes (though, that was mainly in New Moon), and the script butchers basic story plots-yes, I know that all of a book cannot go into a film, but the KEY points that are BASIC to what is written were awful and poorly told (I could have done better), etc.
I could go on further, but with Eclipse, it was a total 180˚. Acting was smooth, there was a good pacing and flow, Howard Shore did an amazing job with the music, and because so much was improved on, the small parts that deviated from the main story or out-of-character moments (i.e. Bella getting on Jacob's motorcycle, leaving Edward behind?!?!) were not as hugely unforgivable. Watching Eclipse, I actually believed at times that Bella and Edward are in love for once. So Great Job David Slade! This was a HUGE step up. :D
