High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel Will NOT Be Playing Alec In New Moon.
Remember that story that suggested Lucas Grabeel would be a good match to play Alec in New Moon? Well, fuggedabouit–it’s not going to be him:
PopStar: Lucas, do you care to comment on the rumors that you will be playing Alec in New Moon?
Lucas: Yeah, my girlfriend told me that the other day. I think that is funny, none of that is actually true. I have not auditioned and have not been approached.
Actually, there were never any rumors that he would be playing Alec, just that he would be a good match for the role–People also suggested him as a good choice for the part. Well except for me (:

lol they shouldnt get anyone from HSM, too different of roles to play, a annyoing and bubbly musical, and a dark vampire movie,
