yeah right, or how can Edward make a child instead of killing Bella ... i mean even in his sperm has to be venom...?!

I think when Edward kiss Bella it's not like the "killing at" where maybe the venom must first flow into his mouth ?!

Yeah, despite Stephenie Meyer's best efforts to rationalize the science of the vampire, I don't think she'll be winning a Nobel Prize anytime soon.

One way to make vampirism remotely plausible would be to treat it like a virus. However, instead of killing the host cell like many viruses do, the vampire virus leaves the cell intact (while still producing copies of itself) and modifies the cell's DNA, thereby enhancing the cell's (and the whole organism's) performance. And, like HIV, transmission of the virus need not occur through saliva or skin contact. But, unlike HIV, the virus might not reside in seminal fluid -- just in the blood.

She explains the sperm transmission somewhere on her website, but I'm not sure about kissing...I guess its like @bellacullen says, the venom can only be spread via blood

My impression was that the venom had to be introduced to the blood. As far as the sperm, seems like the bigger issue that needs explained is how he becomes erect in the 1st place. After all, his heart no longer beats, no longer pumps blood thru the body, and an erection is caused by increased blood flow! Make sense 2 anybody?

Yup. Stephenie Meyer's model precludes physiologic action in general, unless we're assuming supernatural forces, at which point it's all arbitrary make-believe anyway.

steph meyer has said in interviews before that the amount of venom in salivia is not enough to hurt or kill a human via kiss. it has to touch blood to do damage..now if he nibbled on her lip she'd be in trouble
