I Know it's Going Against The Grain But...

I have a the opposite opinion on the casting of Jacob Black in the sequel of New Moon. While I love Taylor Lautner and though he made a great Jacob, I'm not sure he's the man for the second movie. Now keep an open mind. He is a great little Jacob but he is not big enough or old enough looking for the MAJOR transformation Jacob goes through. He can start off in the sequel but the character has to change and look at this video to see why...

As you see in the video he is tiny. Gorgeous yes but TINY. Look at this chart made by a fan and you can see height wise it just won't work. he can bulk up all he wants but it will take crazy camera angles and stilts to make it right.

Michael Copon to me looks just like and older Taylor Lautner. Which is what we need. Someone who makes Taylor live on in our memories but we need taller and older. Remember in the second book he is described as looking something like 25.

Now look at these pics of Michael and Taylor and tell me that they don't look like brothers at least.

Both insanely hot! So if this is the new guy, and no one has said he is. I am excited. Now if they tried to change any of the Cullens that don't change at all I would be FREAKING out. So I am Team Vampire! And team steamy Copon for Bella to kiss!

Gosh, I really hate to admit it, but I agree. I love Taylor, but just don't think that he "measures up" for the growth spurt in New Moon. I know that with CGI all that it is today (just check out "Curious Case of Benjamin Button") that they could make him look the part, but with all of the other expenses that go along with this movie (filming in Italy, morphing humans to wolves), I think the money would be better spent somewhere else--LIKE ON SOME MORE FRIGHTENING GROWLS AND SNARLS ; ) I really like Michael as a replacement Jacob. I also like Steven Straight for a replacement Jacob. He is who I envisioned the entire time I was reading the books.

Sorry, spelled Steven's last name wrong. It's Strait.

I love Taylor, and I WANT him to be kept on as Jacob. Ultimately, it's Summit's decision. However, I'm not a Michael fan. I was willing to give him a chance because c'mon, 75,000 (THOUSAND) people signed an anti-Robert petition, but at least 60,000 of those signers are probably in love with him now. And yeah... MC and TL look a little alike... But the guy just comes off as so arrogant. Ugh. I can't stand him... I'm going to be really disappointed if he's cast as Jacob. I'll survive, but I'll be heartbroken.

I agree Taylor looks too young and is too short to play post-wolf Jacob. I really liked him in the first movie and he was perfect in it, but for New Moon, I think someone older and taller is required.

This really could be and older/younger debate with fans. maybe older fans like the older guy so we aren't falling in love with a teen lol! I AM a HUGE fan of Taylor so don't get wrong. I guess I am hoping to have both!!! But Taylor made an amazing Jacob in the first movie so I guess some of us are in a third category. Not a Jacob hater, not a I will die if he not in it, but A loved him, hope it works out for him, but AS LONG AS it's a hot guy we are okay LOL

I need to see a video of Michael Copon being arrogant too! I don't know enough about this guy. There must be videos. Anyone have some good "that's why I don't like him" videos to link to?

I'm cracking up at Alison's post--I think you've nailed it! It probably is an "older/younger" thing. I have said almost the same thing to friends of mine who are Team Jacob. I told them that it is okay for me to be obsessed with Edward because he is 108 years old. Jacob really is a 15 year old boy--that's just ewww for someone my age ; ) I'm thinking that if they got an older Jacob that maybe it would be okay for me to crush a little on him too...yes, I'm pathetic, I admit it.
