Robert Pattinson ("Edward Cullen"), Kristen Stewart ("Bella Swan"), and Taylor Lautner ("Jacob Black") are already very, very successful. Thanks to the Twilight Saga and some of their former work, these three have amassed billions at the box office, and the franchise is not done just yet.
Still, for the past couple of years, many in Hollywood have wondered whether these three can carry at least some of their Twilight success into their other films. Each of these has released independent projects post-Twilight, but they still haven't quite answered the call of these doubters yet, or so some say.
This year might be the year they do it.
Pattinson's post-Twilight releases include Little Ashes, an indie which just couldn't quite get off the ground, Remember Me, and Water For Elephants. Remember Me was a film revered by many of Pattinson's fans, but the combination of the sensitive subject matter and the love story didn't pan out with the critics.Water For Elephants, meanwhile, drew mixed reviews but did well enough at the box office. ......
As for Kristen Stewart, she's already won over critics with her post-Twilight work in Welcome To The Rileys and The Runaways. Those films were of limited release, but they helped to earn her a lot of respect. That trend will probably continue this year if Walter Salles's On The Road adaptation is finally released (there are rumors that it'll go for a Cannes debut). She's had no trouble scoring merited work whatsoever. All she needs to do, if anything, is to show that she can bring in the dollars outside of Twilight
Finally, with Taylor Lautner, he's got a little bit of work to do, but he's already making really good moves. For a while there, he was snagging job after job with very heavy paychecks. He was touted as part of the new "A-list" and had more future projects lined up than almost anyone else in the cast. The first film to come to fruition was Abduction, an action film featuring his first turn in a leading role. Unfortunately, something didn't sync up with that movie and it struck a chord with neither critics nor general audiences............
