PG 13 possible?

Much speculation has been put forth as to weather Breaking Dawn, Parts 1 and 2 will be able to maintain their PG 13 rating. That rating is below so you can see what it says, officially, and judge for yourself.
"PG-13 — Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13. A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous.
With this quote, let me ask those of you who saw the pirated video of Breaking Dawns honeymoon couple, I did not see it myself - I seem to miss all the good stuff, but an on line friend told me that seeing it made her feel the need to "go take a shower" so she could cool down. This young woman is an adult in her 30's as well as married with children. So, if it had that effect upon her, and probably every other human on the planet who actually saw that video, how could it possible pass the censors for the PG 13 rating the studio wants?
Even if you didn't see the video, the pictures that were also "released" were very titillating. At lease they were to this ole woman! It is still my opinion that Summit Entertainment accidentally on purpose did it for the advertising it would bring. Everyone who's read the books will be going to see both parts of Breaking Dawn, and with the release of those pictures and that video, those who hadn't read the books will too. Brilliant advertising ploy!
My thinking is that, why not release an adult version of this film, as well as all the other movies of the Saga already released? I know I would have loved to been able to find a set of Twilight's DVD with the deleted scene of Edward loosing it and attacking Bella and dragging her off. There are many other deleted scenes that would make the video's better as far as following the books that would make it better for we "adults".

We have been debating this question for years.  After reading Stephenie's description of the birth we thought that all the blood would make it impossible.  We were never worried and the book cause of the 'fade to black'-ness of the sex scenes.  BUT after seeing the pics and video, I am excited to push some of the boundaries of PG-13 in the sex area versus the graphic birth.  I would be most happy to have both...but after these years of angsty sexual build-up...I am ready the words of Marvin Gay "let's get it on."

But after watching some supposedly PG-13 movies with my daughters, I was surprised by the graphic language and descriptions of sex.  I couldn't believe they were pg-13 and I was embarassed to be sitting right next to them.  SO far the pictures aren't ass cracks or side boobs so I think it's very tasteful from what we can see.  Tasteful sex is what I think Bella and Edward should have on the BIG screen.  The raunchy stuff can stay in FF where we like it.

So yes I think we can maintain PG-13.

Well, it remains to be seen I guess, litterally!

The first time I was in a theater with my own daughter who was about 8 - 10 watching Conan and the sex scene came up, my daughter asked me what they were doing.  I was undone!  All I could say was they were just playing.  What an awful answer to give her.  I made up for it later however.

Thanks for your comment.

I second the motion for an R-rated or unrated DVD director's cut. I will happily pay to see the PG-13 in the theater, buy the PG-13 DVD as soon as it comes out, and then later rejoice again to buy an R-rated DVD with more sex & blood. This is a win-win for everyone & a potential cash cow for Summit-I hope they're listening.

I think it would be a shame for the young fans if they couldnt enjoy the last part in cinema. But we could hope for a american edition and a european edition, because they are way more strict about these things in USA than in europe. They cant even say 'f***' in movies shown in USA...

(I dont know about the conditions in the rest of the world)

The series has been targeted at a teen audience. It is in the contract that the the films cannot be 'R'. Breaking Dawn will be awesome as a PG13 film. There is plenty that filmmakers can do to elude to what is going on off screen. Even in the book, there was more eluding than actual description. The sex in the book was NOT R, therefore, in the film it won't be either.
They have officially released that Breaking Dawn will, indeed, be PG13. All if it's fans will be able to enjoy the full saga the way it was meant to be. :)

In all honesty i think that it's should be pg-13. Because i don't think it's fair for the kids that have seen all 3 movies should be left out. If there is stronge heavy sex and nudty i think it should hold until the dvd comes out. But either it's just my opinion  some movies today that are pg-13 still have alot of sex that young kids should not see. So really it makes no difference

Whatever happened to creative freedom, or in fact FREEDOM altogether? I think these movies will be successful no matter what! Why not allow the artist who have brought us all to this point, the freedom to share their un-censored vision with us. We have fallen in love with the story line, the characters, the actors who portray them, and the artists who brought it all to fruition. Let this final ride be the best ride. Give them the creative freedom to make it a possibility!

I believe it will be PG - 13 becasue as Summitt said the video released was uncut, unedited and not ready for fan viewing.  They are bound to get some interesting pics while shooting but that doesn't men it will make it in to the movie, and the pics that have been oficially released show nothing more than a hug verticcle. No biggie.  I have seen more sking in a PG film than we have seen OFFICIALLY  released so far.  PG - 13 no problem.

in my opinion it shouldnt be pg13 because why do we always (adults) have to be concerned about  the satisfactoin of children,i mean i respect that they have aright to watch movies that suits their age but we too have aright to see the real deal cus we'v been waiting for almost 4 years now to see the culmination of edward&bella's love. comn guys we'r dying here

stephenie would never let BD be anything other than pg-13. she has said this countless time, and she is actually a producer for this one. So I have the feeling of what she says go.
