Kellan Lutz & Nikki Reed Interview For ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′

Was there a scene in the book that you were particularly looking forward to shoot in ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′?

Kellan Lutz: I’ve enjoyed a lot of different beats in the ‘Twilight’ story, but I was really looking forward to doing the arm wrestling scene with Kristen. It’s one of the big moments for Emmett, and the fans are really looking forward to it. It was fun to shoot. When I first read it in that book I was excited because Emmett finally had a one-on-one scene with Bella, and not just human Bella, but vampire Bella. We had a great time shooting it. I wish we could’ve spent a full day doing it just because I had so much fun doing that scene, but I loved every second. It’s a funny scene.

Kristen Stewart becomes a very different Bella in this film. How was it for you witnessing that transformation while shooting?

Kellan Lutz: The transformation Kristen did with becoming “super” Bella was really interesting. I mean, she’s a whole ‘nother character, she made up a whole ‘nother character. And I spoke to Stephenie Meyer’s about it and she was just so impressed by it. Going through the sense of being a newborn vampire, all of the heightened senses, being able to smell really well, see really well, fight really well – she done such an amazing job showing that. And I couldn’t really tell, I think my make-up is the most pale out of anyone’s, I don’t know what it is – it’s super pale (laughs), but Kristen looked still just as beautiful.

After Bella’s successful transformation into a vampire, Rosalie continues to care for Renesmee like her own child, and also begins to treat Bella like a part of the family?

Nikki Reed: Yeah. Rosalie and Jacob sort of become surrogate parents while Bella and Edward are figuring out the mess, as there’s some scary and huge threats coming there way. So Jacob and I step in and do a I really great job with Renesmee - well I think we do a pretty good job (laughs). Rosalie, she’s sort of in mum mode, taking care of this baby and fighting for her family. In the book, some of the best moments are between Rosalie and Renesmee. This is the dream come true for Rosalie. It’s so nice to see how close Rosalie and Renesmee are because it’s what she’s always wanted. The whole family is so supportive of their relationship and also really thankful that Rose is capable and ready to be a mum. She’s prepared. This is where the family comes in and everyone steps up and contributes while Bella’s in the throes of transformation.

I think my biggest fear with Rosalie from day one was always that she would come off as being very one dimensional. Yes, she’s misunderstood, but in the book she’s less misunderstood because there’s more about why she’s behaving in the way she is. In Part 2, she and Bella really have that triumph together of having made it through the drama in Part 1. Obviously everyone’s completely in love with Renesmee, but Rosalie, she was Bella’s staunchest ally during her pregnancy and brought her through. Bella and Rosalie have that have that connection throughout Part 2.

What was it like on set shooting the massive battle scene?

Nikki Reed: It was a lot of fun because we were all put through the works: hair, make-up, wardrobe everyday. And the sides were taken, you know? There was 50 or 60 Volturi and like a 100 of us. You really felt the intensity shooting that everyday. And as Rosalie, I kick a little butt (laughs), a little baby butt. Rosalie’s with the baby so luckily I got out of fighting (laughs), I got to play mum-ish! It was fun, this movie is fun, there’s a lot of adrenaline, a lot at stake and everyone’s terrified. The battle was huge.

What do you think you will take away from this ‘Twilight’ experience?

Kellan Lutz: I’m gonna take the ‘Twilight’ series with the rest of my life. It’s been a journey that’s really been so impactful on my life, I can’t wait to share it with my grand-kids, the whole experience. And not just acting in it, but all of the doors that have been opened and all of the experiences I’ve been able to enjoy through it.

Nikki Reed: This ‘Twilight’ series has been such a huge part of my life and my growth, I think my growth as an actress and as a person as well, you know? There’s been tonnes of challenges that have come along the way, but there’s been so much good – so many wonderful things have come from this. I’ve met a number of lifelong friends.
