It's an awesome trilogy, everyone should read them ,it has suspense, action, mystery, murder, sex basically everything you can think of. I personally think Kristen Stewart would be amazing as Lisbeth Salander the heroin. She's tough, intriguing,a computer hacker genius and in the books she's bi-sexual. Has sex with a woman and Mikael Blomkvist who is the male lead and is supposed to be much older than Lisbeth. Since Kristen rocked Joan Jett so amazingly she can very well rock this role too. She has a dragon tattoo in her back and dresses like a punk rocker /goth with piercings. You all should see the movie, the Swedish one it's awesome, I had to get all the books because it was very intriguing. The first one is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and the second is The Girl who Knew Too Much and the third and last book of the trilogy is The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. There is a violent rape scene of Lisbeth by her guardian/lawyer in the first movie which is very sordid and horrifying. I know that Kristen can do this role and could possibly be an Oscar win. I really hope she gets it. Carey is a good actress but she doesn't look tough, so is Natalie and Ellen, and Mia. When they said they were going to do the US version Kristen immediately came to my mind for the role, and she had already worked with David Fincher in Panic Room. This could be like Jodie Foster's role in that movie where she was a cocktail waitress who was gang raped true story and she won an academy award for that. I can't remember the title of the movie. Hope Kstew gets the part!

No offense to you die-hard Kristen fans, but all those actresses are EXPONENTIALLY better than her. I just don't think Kristen has much range. Yeah, she can look tough. But she has the same expressions, the same cadence. She's pretty much a one-trick pony. Carey Mulligan and Ellen Page both have Oscar noms under their belt, Natalie Portman is brilliant and has been in the business for a long time. You want to see tough? See Natalie's first performance in The Professional! She was 11 years old! And Keira Knightley is also fantastic, especially in period pieces such as Pride & Prejudice.
I don't think Kristen has an Oscar in her future. I hope they pick someone rather new and full of potential (Carey/Ellen) or someone who has been around for a while and really proven themselves with diverse and challenging roles (Natalie/Keira). Kristen won't last. She just doesn't have "it". I don't know how to explain it really. She's a great Bella, but I don't see her having lasting power in the business or gaining the critical respect these other actresses have. Just my opinion. Please don't attack me. Lol.

@ Tania: when she acts, she lives with the characters. her shyness or unconfidence doesn't exist in front of the cameras either

I agree, Katie H. I know how much we all love Kristen but she can't really compete against those actresses! I mean, THEY ALL GOT AT LEAST ONE OSCAR NOMINATION!
However, Kristen is good at playing the hurt, brooding teenager and also can be very grungy as we have seen from The Runaways.
To sum up, it would be great for Kristen's career but I am afraid she won't get the part.

I think that it's sad that you guys from america haft to do you own version of the movie. I mean the swedish version was so good! I'm not saying this because I'm swedish I'm saying it because it is that way. Why can't you read the subtitles? I think it will be fun to see how your version turns out but I doubt that it will be better. And please do not choose any famous actors! The swedish women ( Noomi Rapace) that plays Lisbeth was not known before she did the girl with the dragon tatoo and she was awsome! I think that all of you should see the swedish one, I promise that you won't be disappointed, It's probably the best swedish movie ever! I do not mean anything bad with this I'm just saying because I think so.

Quite frankly while I think that Kristen can do an excellent job. The other actresses are also talented. I am not sure that Kristen would want to commit herself to another Trilogy. I think that while Kristen has been acting in films for a while, she hasn't the opportunity to show what she can really do. I think that reason that she is taking roles like The Runaways, Welcome to the Riley's and now the John Kourac film. She is trying to show her range. All of the actors that were named by Katie H. are older and more life experienced than Kristen, which quite frankly count for a lot when your an actor. Carey, Natalie, Ellen Page, Kiera are all in the mid to late twenties. Carey is a newcomer to us but not in the UK. Kristen needs to transition into older roles and continue to take on a variety of characters. The films that she has been in are not the type that Academy consider "Oscar Worthy" no matter how good her performance could be. I don't agree that she is a one trick pony and I hope that the role of "Bella" doesn't influence people into thinking that this is all that there is. I think that she is underrated as an actress, and will surprise all. However, I don't think that she will get this role at this point in her career. I think that if this opportunity had come one or two years from now it might be a different story.
