Kristen Stewart has had her share of the spotlight recently, with the top-selling Twilight: Eclipse hitting theaters across the nation last week and captivating countless audiences. Stewart portrays Bella, the female lead in the Twilight Saga, and throughout the series has been torn between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Recently, Stewart discussed the characters in the film as well as a bit about herself in an interview.
Stewart pointed out that while character had flaws, Bella tended to be a good person.
“All the things that sort of annoy me about her are things that I like about her,” said Stewart. “[Bella's] definitely not naggy but because she tries so hard not to be sometimes, I feel like telling her, ‘Why don’t you just let yourself be a girl?’”
Stewart also noted that Bella can be critical of herself, but doesn’t let it get her down too much.
“Sometimes she picks on herself too much,” said Stewart. “I always say my favorite things about her is that she screws up a lot and doesn’t care.”
The budding actress also discussed her co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, and their characters. Stewart said that some people are a bit conflicted about Twilight portraying an idealized love.
“People always wonder if we should be giving little girls ideas of meeting such a perfect man and if that even exists,” said Stewart. “If so many people have taken to it, it’s not something that’s been shoved into their heads. Everybody has that ideal.”
Stewart was quick to note that the characters of Twilight are far from ideal, though.
“Our movie isn’t perfect. None of our characters are perfect at all,” Stewart explained. “They’re all so completely crazy and messed up and that’s why they go well together. They don’t make excuses for their weirdness and they accept each other for who they are.”
