Learn more about the Twilight Saga Movies straight from Melissa Rosenburg....A must read and watch for the true fans

Melissa Rosenburg does an interview and discusses adapting the books Twilight to Eclipse into screenplays. Some interesting items to me were:

1. Melissa worked on the hit show "The O.C"
2. She was a dancer and started her career with a dance movie.
3. When asked what she thought of teens and vampires her response was "I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one of the best tv shows of all time".
4. She had no interaction with Stephenie Meyer on Twilight.
5. Stephenie had written in her contract to not stray from the book. Melissa thought this was very "smart for a writer".
6. Once Twilight was in production she started New Moon.
7. Eclipse was finished right after New Moon script was done.
8. Melissa and Stephenie have collaborated a lot on Eclipse and brought a lot of mythology into the movie that is not in the book but it is straight from Stephenie.
9. She is working full time on Showtime's Dexter and Eclipse at the same time. As she did with the other 2 screenplays and movies.

If Stephenie had it contracted that Rosenberg should not stray from the book, then she is breech of contract. Bella was not FORCED to see Edward in the sun, it was a reward and it happened in the meadow, not on a mountain. I am not a fan of the movie as much as I am the book. I like the movie because it let me put a face to the name and allowed me to watch (in my head) the whole series come to life. The movie could have been better... seriously. She has been working on Eclipse for a while now, she did decent with New Moon from what I could tell of the trailer and shooting locations updates. I know Breaking Dawn went from optioned property to script back in May, she will have her hands FULL as t hat book is twice the size as the others and I hope they make it a REALLY long movie. A PERFECT send off to the series, a 3.5 hour long movie where we can say farewell to our family! :)

Comment by Tina on June 25, 2009 at 10:54am: Chauntelle, I agree with you. I don't understand #4 and #5. Why didn't she interact with Stephenie while writing the Twilight script? No wonder the movie was so off. If Stephenie had it in her contract to not stray from the book then WTF happened to Twilight. Don't get me wrong, the movie was ok, got to put a face to the characters but so much could have been done better, ex. the meadow scene, such a pivitol point in the book could have been played out so much better in the movie. The whole tree climbing thing?? I have my hopes up that New Moon and the last two will be better and follow the book more closely.
