Lets hear three cheers for Twilight winning an award at the MTV Movie Awards May 31st! Well, actually the movie won five awards so.. 3 times 5.. 15 cheers for the Twilight movie! Anyone who saw the MTV Movie Awards couldn't deny that it was interesting in the least. There was so much
stuff going on that no one ever really knew what was happening. In my opinion it was very disjointed, confusing, and at times disgusting (remember Bruno?). Luckily, the Twilight movie dominated the night so it was worth watching for something other than the New Moon trailer. But after the third time Twilight cast members were handed a bucket of popcorn we were all catching onto the trend of the unfair popularity contest.
That's right. I said it. I thought the Movie Awards were unfair because of the surge of devoted Twilight fans voting for their movie online or through text. The awards may have well been the MTVamp awards. Not that Twilight didn't deserve all of the recognition, but seriously people. Five awards? There were oodles of brilliant movies from 2007-2008. As well as actors that have much more expirience than Kristen Stewart that were nominated for Breakthrough Preformance Female. Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, and Taraji P. Henson. If you watched Twilight you may have noticed how Bella only looked like she had something in her eyes the whole time. Harsh, but true. Not exacly a Breakthrough Preformance.
There were some awards that Twilight had spot on. The Breakthough Preformance Male, Best Kiss, and Best Fight. Robert Pattinson gave it his all in Twilight, and he dazzled. Playing the hottest vampire in the world, all he needed to do was flash a crooked smile to make us swoon. But he took the role to a whole new level and really portrayed the anguish that Edward was going through. Best Kiss was most deserved in my opinion because that was one of the most, suspense-filled love-struck tangible kisses that I have ever seen. A little melodramatic, but it was hot. The Best Fight was deserved, but it was lacking in the special effects department. Although the floorboards scattering and shooting at the camera was pretty intense, as well as the action between James and Edward. I'm undecided on this bucket of popcorn because I loved the fight scene, but I felt like if there was a better nomeniee that wasn't tainted by byist opinions it would've won. That's in an un-byist world (the Oscars!). At the MTV Movie Awards, It's all a popularity contest of the new trends.
*Note: I am one of the millions of people who went online and voted a thousand + times for Twilight related awards. But seeing the actual awards makes me feel bad for the great movies that should've won as well. They were just undershadowed by Twilight's box office glory and unbeleivable popularity.
