Instead of saving the embarrassment of recording my reaction and posting it on the infamous YouTube, I decided to write out my reaction. Yes, I squealed, I screamed, and I gasped while watching it with my Best Twilight Buddy over the phone. We both were going OMG after it ended, only to watch it again. And again. As I watched it for the fourth and fifth time, I started to do a “break down” and observe it very carefully. Picking up on things that might not have been caught.
As a fan, the dialogue in the first twenty seconds of the film are not to set up the killings in Seattle, but to set up the fact that Emmett crossed the treaty line chasing Victoria. Leading to another scene in the trailer. When Victoria is jumping from tree to tree while getting followed. If you look at a caption of that part you'll notice her pursuer has longer hair than Riley. My guess is it's Jasper chasing her. Which could be a slight deviation to that one part. Is Emmett behind them? June 30th will have the answer.
Twenty-eight seconds later, we see the wolves Ashley raved about. They do look better. A little bit more angular than in New Moon, and certainly more darker. Notice there's more than before. Colin, Bradey, Seth, Leah, and Quil?!Riley and the army coming out of the water like that? Kudos Mr. Slade. That gave me goose bumps, AND creeped me out.
THE RING! It looks beautiful. And close attention to how the book describes it is a major bonus. People are judging Bella's face the second after it's shown. As we've seen in many other trailers outside of the Twilight universe, scenes are cut together for dramatic effect. Like Bella running away in the first NM trailer screaming “Jake run!” She wasn't running from Laurent, but it made it seem that way. This could be her face before he whips out the old beauty and pops the question.
Jacob slamming his fist down is obviously his response to her telling him “I want to be a vampire. You can't change that.” His shirt is the same as the confrontation in the beginning of the trailer, her hood is the same. So...does it take place on the same day? Do the set pictures of Kristen's stunt double riding on the motorcycle with the same costumes spoil anything? Hmm... We'll see.
Victoria! I wasn't too pleased with them replacing Rachelle, but seeing this glimpse gives me a little hope for everyone's favorite baddie vampire.
Probably one of my favorite shots in the whole trailer. When we see Jake turning around to face Bella who's face looks like she said something she might regret. Let's take a second to notice their surroundings. SNOWY MOUNTAIN TOP. Hmm, I wonder what line has just been spoken to make Jake look THAT surprised as he turns around?! And make Bella look THAT concerned?!
Oh look, the Volturi shot from the first trailer. Next.
Yes, the final battle! Victoria is looking all “Oh no you didn't!” Why doesn't Edward have the “Oh yes I did” face on? When he goes to push down the tree, pay super close attention to that sequence of her falling down. What do we see in between the branches? Pause the trailer at one-twenty six and we see a wolf (SETH!!!) bouncing around a body (Riley!). It's our first brief glimpse at the chipper fifteen year old as a wolf! Could Seth just have hurt Riley? Is that why Victoria is all “Grr!”? Maybe!
The slo-mo wolves jumping and attacking the army is the best ending. I have a feeling that wolf attacking before it cuts to the logo could be Leah. My hopes are high that it is her.
All in all a very excellent trailer. As the Eclipse book being my favorite, I feel that justice has been done. Could there have been more? Absolutely. Fans already know what goes down between Jake and Bella outside the tent. Her certain little question might have given more of an edge to the back seat the love triangle took here. Maybe the final line in the trailer before it cuts to black would've left a tantalizing cliff hanger for the movie fans. Who knows.
