My experience at an Eclipse DVD Release "Party"

The FYE in our mall in Dover, Delaware held an Eclipse DVD release party. The "party" started @ 10:00 p.m. My sister-in-law was visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday and we are both HUGE Twilight Saga fans. She is Team Carlisle and I am Team Edward.

We arrived at approximately 9:50 p.m. only to be greeted by a large woman with very frizzy hair and a very loud and booming voice which I could hear as we approached the store. SHE, not the store manager or employees (as she didn't give them the chance), advised us that there were cookies, chips and punch to drink and, as I am partially handicapped, would be given a chair if I so desired. We thanked her and proceeded to walk away. It was near IMPOSSIBLE to hear anything in the store because this person continued to talk the entire time we were there. The manager was playing Eclipse, which I wanted to watch and HEAR as I hadn't seen the movie since it was in the theatre on the original date. The Dover Mall theatre, Carmike 14, did not re-run the film upon its re-release for Bella's birthday as other select theatres had. There was no way possible to hear the film on any of the FOUR televisions that it was being played on over the booming and bellowing voice of this person as she wanted EVERYONE in the store to know that she had bought her daughter EVERY single thing associated with Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and even Breaking Dawn (which we all noted lowly amongst each other has not been released, yet).

One of the employees began to play a trivia game. Of course, the woman, in her overbearing voice, announced that her daughter would, undoubtedly, win EVERY prize, as she knew everything there was to know about ALL of the movies. As you may well have gathered at this point, the employee was unable to hear who answered the fastest or correctly as the woman's daughter answered the loudest and WRONG! LOL We played several different trivia rounds and her daughter never answered one question correctly. The only way her daughter won a prize was when the employee decided at the end of the night to give away what prizes she had left (which were coupons for free food donated from vendors at the mall) because it was time for the event to end!

When it was midnight and the DVDs could FINALLY be handed out to us, everyone who was there let this loud and rude woman go FIRST so that she could get out of the store and leave us all in peace! LOL However, when we walked out to my car, the woman was parked in front of mine and was rearranging things in the back of her car and hollering at her daughter, "I spent a lot of money on you again tonight! You never appreciate anything I do for you!" This from a MOTHER who made sure that EVERYONE in FYE knew that, by being loud, rude and overbearing, butting into conversations that the employees of the store were having with other customers, etc., she had bought her daughter everything to do with the Twilight Saga, even those things that don't exist at this point!

I must say though, as much as I love Stephenie Meyer, The Twilight Saga, all of the characters she created and the cast of the films, to include all of the writing and production staff for the films....I would DEFINITELY and GLADLY go through the whole night again.

LOL! My experiene for the DVD release party was a bit more peaceful than yours. I've met a mother and daughter who are JUST LIKE THAT! Heck, I'm from a LA, I've met the Twilight cast and right now I'm in a small town in Colorado and I kept my mouth shut at the DVD party unless it came out in conversation. People are annoying sometimes but when it comes to Twilight, it's worth it =)

You are absolutely right Mayra!!! I wish I could meet all of the cast... I'm sure I wouldn't be able to do anything but stare at them, but I would thoroughly enjoy it just the same. Waiting for baited breath for Breaking Dawn!!!!
