My small problem with Breaking Dawn....It maybe yours too !

It's hard for me to rate the Twilight Saga in any kind of preference order, as each one is unique and evokes a range of great emotions. It's only until I reached approx 3/4 of the way through Breaking Dawn that another emotion / feeling set in.......The emotion I felt was disbelief and disappointment ! ......and it happened around about the time that Jacob suddenly decided to phase in front of Charlie and let the cat (or Wolf) out of the bag with absolutely NO repercussions from Charlie. Was it just me or did anyone else find his reaction to the whole Werewolf / Bella / Vampire on a 'need to know basis' ridiculous and completely out of character for Charlie Swan - Head of Police in Forks who had been conducting a manhunt for weeks looking for some 'animal' who had attacked his friends and residences of Forks ?!?

I think this is the only weak area of the whole Twilight Saga, and although its only a minor point I think it's definately a flaw in the story/saga. I can't help thinking that this is NOT the reaction of a police officer / Bella's father and just maybe the whole 'reveal' to Charlie was a little rushed and conveniently easy.

If it wasn't for that, I think Breaking Dawn and the unfinished Midnight Sun are currently my favourites !!

Breaking Dawn is my least favorite out of the whole series and I see your point. For one I didnt see the point of telling Charlie. Second Charlie always wants to know whats going on when it comes to Bella. Just like in New Moon when Bella and Charlie talked about where she was for the last three days.

I'm not sure if your a Mom or not but we choose to see what we want at times with or children, Charlie lived in Forks a long time and I am sure he knows the legends and he as well chooses to see what he wants, the less he knows the better sometimes. Also he got closer to someone and had to accept some things as good. Remeber what Edward said about Charlie and what he chose to see with Bella and one good thing about Charlie he doesnt hover.

I get Everyones Point But I Must Say Breaking Dawn Is One Of My Fav.....How Could It Not be With The Wedding,Esme Island,Nessies Birth, Bella's "Birth" And The End Battle Bellas Power All That Jazz! I Just Love It. I Think Charlie At That Point Didnt Care Just As Long As Bella Was Well And Happy And Still In His Life :)

My only question out of the entire saga is how could Edward whose number one priority had been to protect Bella would have unprotected sex? He's too smart and careful. I don't get it. Wouldn't he wonder what his venom might cause?

I totally agree with Tricia & Yanira, Charlie just wants Bella around and to noe that she is happy, his most important priority. So he jus decided once she is happy, the whole Cullen mystery, Jacob the werewolf doesnt matter, and he really loves Renesemee. So it accepts it. Breaking Dawn is a really emotional one, i love it.

I agree that Charlie's acceptance was out of character but I am a vampire and humans, including Charlie, are just snacks. :) However, my problem with Breaking Dawn is Bella becoming this super vampire protecting her coven with her mind - Now that was hard to swallow. I accepted her non-newborn traits - she was a natural, her first jump, her first hunt, actually running from the humans instead of instinctively feeding on them but this super vampire stuff was just too much.

I agree with you but I'm starting the series over again to see if I like it more (BD that is - i love eclipse). I think the thing for me was that a lot of things in BD were out of character. Charlie is not dumb and him turning the other cheek was disappointing because he's such a great character. i wanted to see how he reacted to this other world. and even, i hate to say it, the whole baby thing was a little weird too. maybe i just wanted them to stay struggling teenagers for a little longer instead of parents to a 30 year old hahaha. don't get me wrong, LOVE the books, but need to go over them again.
