New Moon + Summit = O.O
2008 was a pretty good year. Two books from Stephenie- BD and The Host, the Twilight movie, and loads of other stuff.
And then, just after the movie is released, Summit confirm New Moon. So, I'm there thinking, OMG, this is great!, when, a couple days later, Summit replaced Catherine Hardwicke, with Chris Weitz, (who directed The Golden Compass). This is a bit of a blow, but I manage to get over it.
And then good old Summit annouces that NM has been slated for November 20, 2009. And that filming starts in March. 8 months to film a movie? :-/
And then, guess what happens on top of that? (not all in the right order) Taylor might be replaced. Possible replacement? Micheal Copon (who, I'm sorry, just makes me want to hurl). And then the teeny tiny budget. Twilight has made over 200million+ so far. And then Summit says, 'Oh, we'll give NM a 50million budget. Hello?! Where did the other 100million+ go?! NM needs the most CGI, because of the shape shifters!
I don't know if I've gotten everything, but right now, I'm starting to wish that WB (Warner Bros.) was responsible for Twilight, not Summit Entertainment. Any thoughts?
*EDIT*: And another thing. Robert and Kristen got a pay rise- from 2 mill to 12million. I just hope they're not paying all of the actors out of the budget, 'cause if they are, NM will definatly suck. And for the record, I don't hate Chris Weitz, I'm just apprehensive. I'm not going to make a judgement until I see the finished product. And if it stinks, then yeah, I'll blame Summit.

well i agree with everything so far...
but i think that 8 months is a good range of time to do a movie... and it worked out pretty good for Twilight last year... About the Budget... i don´t know... They blow out a lot for merchandise and Advertising and stuff... maybe they just calculate that in now... but 50 million is not much... i havent heard that before, but that makes me sad.... it sounds like summit don´t care about this movie at all...

I totally agree. With everything you said. I mean twilight made a massive profit, and to only be allowed a $50m budget is just dodgy. And don't even get me started on the whole Jacob role,, gosh. Lol I mean its stupid to replace a main character in the middle of a story, it dose'nt make sense and I'm pretty sure they will loose a fair bit of fan support if they replace Taylor with Michael. Now about the director, I suppose that Chris is better with the whole special effects area of filming and directing, but i don't think he will get the romance part of NM as well as Catherine Hardwicke would have... but I don't know,,, i guess we will just have to wait until November 20 to see how it all turns out. :)

:( I agree with everything, its too rushed, they not spending enough money, some crap director who crapped up The Golden Compass is directing it, and Taylor MAY NOT be Jacob :S Please dnt screw this up Summit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish they would get a little more realistic on the budget. I think it took like $100 million to film James Bond--Quantum of Solace and it didn't require half of the CGI that New Moon will need.

ok?50mill? thats freken nothing. i must admit ur blog has opened my eyes a bit here. i really was looking forward to newmoon, all the shapeshiffting scenes were wot i was most excited for and hearing the budget makes me cringe..! and btw noone can replace jacob. he ddnt have that much of a role, btu it just wouldnt be rite!
plus. micheal copon dus make me hurl
