I first suspected that Solomon Trimble's New Moon gig was up in the air when the New Moon Casting Call was released, and the role of Sam Uley showed up on the list.
My suspicions were reinforced by a recent story that I read on indigenousportal.com, which details Native Americans' outrage over what they hold as deceptions in and around the production of Twilight:
"In a film with such a strong Native American theme, only two actors of Native American decent were hired. But due to reasons unknown, Solomon Trimble (Apache) who played and established the character of Sam Uley, has suddenly lost his role.
Sam Uley's character has been re-posted onto the Hollywood-casting breakdown, and it is obvious that Hollywood is now looking for a more marketable teen heartthrob celebrity actor to play the more substantial and very desirable part."
If this is true, it's truly a disappointment for Solomon, as well as Krys, who played Embry in Twilight, since the role of Embry Call is also up for grabs. Solomon had spent some time delving into the character of Sam Uley, even penning a poem inspired by Sam's love for Emily, which you can see on Solomon's MySpace page.
Actually, neither role is listed on the official Twilight Movie site Cast & Crew list, though Solomon is credited on IMDB as Sam Uley. Now, all of this is unconfirmed speculation, so take it with a grain of salt; perhaps Solomon & Krys will still have a shot at the roles, after everything shakes out. We shall see! In the meantime, enjoy Twilight Lexicon's old Wolfpack interview again:
