Peter Facinelli & Elizabeth Reaser Interview For ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′

Peter Facinelli & Elizabeth Reaser interview with Flicks and Bits about Breaking Dawn part 2 ..at the end of the interview ,Elizabeth Reaser has dropped some new details on another scene which got deleted from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 , a scene between Michael Sheen and Omar Metwally ...

When you were shooting the first film with Catherine Hardwicke, did you ever have any idea how huge this series would be? Was there ever an inkling on set?

Peter Facinelli: I don’t we thought it would be anything like this (laughs).

Elizabeth Reaser: We were standing, filming in the rain going like, “What are we doing?” (Laughs).

Peter Facinelli: We had rain coming down, our make-up was streaming down our faces, the wigs were falling off. We looked like The Munsters on set, we were like, “This is going to end our careers!” (Laughs) We had no idea that Catherine was putting together something so cool. Because filming, you don’t know the tone of the movie, once you know what the tone of the movie is, then you get it. But when you are just shooting scene by scene, in the hands of the wrong director it could have been terrible. It’s very delicate material, it could go really goofy very quickly if you don’t do it the right way.

Elizabeth Reaser: She birthed it, she really made it what it is today.

For the actors I image this series is almost like High School or College, every year you’re thrown back together with this group of people – with some new people, new classmates, teachers – to me it sort of has that feeling. How is the overall sentiment and feeling now that the series has been completed.

Peter Facinelli: I think ‘Breaking Dawn’ definitely felt like that. We had a whole new crop of actors come in, it was like they were all coming into the fresh school, looking at it like, “Wow, this is really cool.” And then they were going out, hanging out and they had their click, they were like, “Come out with us?!” We were like the old people, like, “No, we’re going to bed. We’ve done that already – 15 minutes more sleep in the morning is a luxury! (Laughs) It was fun to see because we had that.

Elizabeth Reaser: It was a trip. And it’s sad right now because this is the last time I’m going to do a junket with Peter.

Peter Facinelli: Don’t say that, we’ll do another movie together (laughs).

Elizabeth Reaser: (Laughs). That makes me sad. Even seeing the movie, it made me very, very emotional. But we’re so lucky that we got to finish this thing, make five movies.

Peter Facinelli: Yeah. Finishing all of the books, that’s a big feat. When we started there was only three books, so our goal for the first movie was, “Hey, if enough people go and see this movie, maybe we can go and do the second book, maybe – possibly!” Then fans just came out in such great support.

Elizabeth Reaser: It was crazy, when ‘Twilight’ opened, I remember my mum emailed me something like, “67 million!” Something like that, what it opened with, I was in shock!

Peter Facinelli: It was almost numbing, you didn’t believe it, because we had no idea.

Was there a particular moment for you when you thought, “Wow, this ‘Twilight’ thing is going to be huge.”

Elizabeth Reaser: For me it happened so many times, because I kept being shocked by it every time. But the very first time, I was doing a show in San Diego, I was working on something else – I think I hadn’t even shot the movie yet, I’d just been cast. And I was sitting in a restaurant and these girls from Mexico came up to me, the movie had not come out yet, and they said, “Are you Esme?” It was so bizarre and amazing, they hadn’t even seen the movie yet, didn’t know me from anything else, but they knew that I was Esme.

Peter Facinelli: I think for me, the first time I realised this was a huge phenomenon was….actually there’s two. The first one was after we had finished filming the first movie, the movie hadn’t come out yet and I was in Hawaii, people were reading the book all along the beach. I was like, “Wow, that’s pretty cool.” I was out on this deck, which you had to swim to get to about 20 ft out, and some 14 year old girl swam out there and said, “You’re playing Carlisle in ‘Twilight’ aren’t you?” The movie hadn’t even come out yet so I was completely shocked. But even at that point I didn’t fully understand. But then when it really hit me was at the premier of ‘Twilight,’ because I got out of the car and there was like four blocks of screaming fans, you’re literally turning around your head and going, “Who are they screaming for, did The Beatles show up?” (Laughs).

Elizabeth Reaser: Nobody warned us that it was going to be like that (laughs). The entire town had been shut down. I remember driving up and thinking the same thing. I’d been to many premiers, but nothing like that.

Peter Facinelli: And the people hadn’t even seen the movie yet, yet they were so excited and happy. The only thought that was going through my mind was, “If they don’t like this movie, this is going to be a very angry crowd.” Thankfully people liked it.

Did you have a favourite moment in ’The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′? Was there something in particular that was fun to shoot or do?

Peter Facinelli: I think the wedding was really spectacular from Part 1. Then with ’The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ the battle sequence will always be ingrained in my mind because we shot it for like three weeks. We had to do 30 pages in this script, there was a lot of talking back and forward, a lot of sections to it – plus the actual crazy battle. I’d never shot a scene for that length of time in one area.

Elizabeth Reaser: My favourite scene from ’The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ was with Michael Sheen and Omar Metwally, it’s a scene that’s actually cut out of the movie.

Peter Facinelli: They cut that?

Elizabeth Reaser: Yeah, they cut it out. But that happens, there’s no rhyme or reason, you just have to move it along. But it was a gorgeous scene, I was really overwhelmed by how powerful, great actors they are. It was so great to have them in the movie.
