Preface: Death and Incense
I stood in the midst of Hell on Earth. Chaos raged invisibly around me. Only he kept me safe from the horrifying sounds that I didn't want to hear. I shut my eyes and tried to blink it all away. When I opened them, I was staring into his dark irises. He ran his thumb softly across my lips and walked away to certain death. I was left with no one but the frigid air to protect me. I loved him. Loved him so much. And he didn't know it.
At this point, dying would be paradise.
I inhaled slowly, the scent of death and incense filling my nose, and walked slowly forward to the edge of the forest. Sixty-five pairs of eyes trained on me from the shadows. I calmly took one step forward; my feet meeting the pavement sounded deafening.
Then I closed my eyes, waiting for my final escape.

the preface for what New Moon? if it is so that must be the cliff secne, but it sound like a suicide attempt to me.
