It seems that Robert Pattinson can thank the Twilight Saga for his fame and fortune. Not that we didn't know that. Everyone's delicious vampire heart throb, Robert Pattinson AKA Edward Cullen has found his way on to the Sunday Times Young Millionaires List this year.
His new entry on the list places him at 13th at the young and vibrant age of just 24. Despite of the mature way he carries himself, his fame is still new to him, as he struggled in acting since he began acting in amateur plays at the age of 15 with the Barnes Theatre Company.
His first real break came along with a supporting role in the television film Curse of the Ring in 2005. Most of the earnings from his first acting job then went towards paying off his fees for his attendance at the Harrodian School, in Barnes, West London.
He has admitted that he was ready to give up acting. He spent a year trying to break into the music business. Lucky for many, his next break came along in the form of the role of Cedric Diggory, a character in the Harry Potter films. Twilight was the defining moment that cemented his place in the hearts and minds of millions of people, as well as making him rich.
When he first took on the role of Edward Cullen he was paid a measley $2 Million and by the time the mass hysteria of fandom had kicked in, New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight Saga Series saw both him and co-star Kristen Stewart receive around six times their original fee – around $12 Million each.
According to E! he garnered between $14 Million and $16 Million for his reprisal of the role in Eclipse. He also made Vanity Fair’s Top Hollywood Earners of 2009, at position 36, for pulling in earnings of $18 Million.
However, unlike most other celebrities, even those who haven’t rocketed up the rich list, Rob appears to have no real yearning for material goods, at least not yet. Throughout the last three years he has spent much of it staying in hotels and when he’s back at home in England he happily stays with his family. Rpatz considered buying a house in Hollywood but decided not for the level-headed but pessimistic reason that ‘I don’t even know if I’ll be working next year.
Did you know Rob rents an apartment in LA which is also furnished with rented furniture. Rob has refused to buy a mansion or waste money on frivolities. Rob even drove his old car, a 1989 BMW until it died...as it went up in flames people! He finally broke down and rented an Audi S4 convertible – a car modest when compared to Hollywood standards, being worth a mere $46,000. However, it is believed that he has since purchased himself a car. Throughout the last three years Rob has spent much of it staying in hotels and when he’s back at home in England he enjoys staying with his family. Ahhh, a family man! He even considered buying a house in Hollywood at one point, but decided against it for the level-headed reason that I don’t even know if I’ll be working next year.
I have to agree with everyone, Rob is not one that you might attribute to living the lifestyle of the rich and the famous. That definately makes me love Rob even more! Prefers to spend time with his family when he visits England versus buying or renting his own place. That my friends, is my dream man! Talk about not letting his money go to his head.
