Robert Pattinson Insists, 'I Don't Have A Girlfriend,' According To UK's Mirror

Robert PattinsonEDITOR'S NOTE: Since publishing this story, Robert's reps have released the following statement: “Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”
A picture is supposed to be worth a thousand words, or so we thought when we saw the shots of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson getting snuggly at a Kings of Leon concert recently in Vancouver. Yet with five simple words in an interview with UK magazine Mirror, he diffused everything that was implied: "I don't have a girlfriend."
In the interview, Rob went on to describe his off-screen persona (you know, the one that everyone seems to loathe to accept). He told the Mirror that five years ago he was in a state where he hated crowds, had panic attacks in supermarkets and wanted to be a politician. While that all sounds a little surprising, it's refreshing to see an actor still not take their heartthrob status — or Hollywood image — too seriously.
"My life is pretty much identical to before," he not-so-juicily dished. "I don't really do that much. All I do is read books and watch movies, I'm pretty boring."
Maybe that's because he doesn't think he's grown into his looks yet. "I always looked like a girl up until a few years ago," he said in the interview, "and because I never did any sports or anything I was always kind of gangly. I was never really a good model."
Some of his stories seem to have changed since earlier interviews, however. With the Mirror, he said he had no idea who his celebrity crush is, when in previous interviews he said definitively it was Kristen Stewart. He said he "doesn't have a type," but wishes he could date models ("I don't know why that doesn't happen"). Plus, most of the actresses he meets "are a little bit nuts."
So maybe instead of going for his cohorts, he should instead go for fans? Er, not so much! "Most of the girls [who are fans] are all pretty young so it’s just kind of funny. But then you get the 'Twilight' Mums who love you like mums! And you can take that too far. I mean, it could be ‘Edward breaks up Twilight family.’”
But fans still love him. In fact, regardless of his denial of dating Kristen, their maybe-relationship is almost more relatable than the Edward and Bella love story that weaves throughout the "Twilight Saga." KStew is meant to iconize the every woman — being beautiful but not in an especially remarkable way — and RPattz, from his own description is just an ordinary guy. Clearly he does not like the pedestal he is often placed on, and that seems to be better ideal for the rest of us. It just goes to show: maybe there's a Robert Pattinson out there for all of us.
What do you think of this interview? Do you believe that Robert doesn't have a girlfriend? What about his claims that he is "boring"?
