On the commentary RPatz said he was bummed it was cut because it was one of his fav scenes as well.

I wish they kept that scene in too. Rob looks super hot in the white and I love the finger biting and how he calls her a fragile little human :) Thanks for the screen caps! They are great!

I can see why they had to cut it basically because the scene strayed too far from the book. The "fragile little human" line was later used by James, but it meant something totally different.
