Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Reacts to the Breaking Dawn Part 1 Trailer

La Times talked to twilight saga screenwriter ,Melissa Rosenberg about her reaction to the Breaking Dawn trailer ;-

Ever after: Rosenberg was pleased that the trailer in part indicated that this film is about a marriage. "It teases the fact that this a story about ... a marriage going through some unusual stresses ....  At one point in the movie there's a line where Edward says, 'They say the first year is the hardest.' It's very funny."

Jacob's heartbreak: We were struck by Jacob's emotional goodbye to human Bella, as he knows she'll soon be promoted to Edward's immortal beloved. Rosenberg says that scene resonates more than we know. "It's a really sweet moment, and it's the moment the film turns. It turns into a horror film," she said. Speaking of which ....

The horror: Robert Pattinson's previous comments that Bill Condon was making a horror movie were ominous, and the trailer in fact reflects terrible times ahead for the residents of Forks, Wash. "We're beginning to get into the second half of the film, which turns more into a horror story. The images of Bella -- trust me, it only gets more intense," Rosenberg says.

What you never expected to see: If some footage surprises fans, or doesn't conjure memories from Meyer's books, Rosenberg understands. "I think fans may be a little freaked out. There's some conflict with the wolves that they may not remember -- there's a lot of conflict in the book that's resolved with a conversation and we only hear about it. For this movie I was able to play off of that," she said.

I love that Melissa gave us more of the wolves. She did this in Eclipse with the Seattle vampire newborns and it just creates a more robust story.  I can't wait!!!  I also noticed that some things that took place in wolf form in the book are - understandably - done in human form in the movie. Again, changes that I can handle because it will make the movie better.

Agree with you there. The wolves are a strong B plot.

I have no problem with the extra things that they added. The part where Jacob say "you kill her you kill me" is probably after he imprints on the baby and he is talking about her. In the book we never read what happen after he imprinted. His POV ended after that so something was happening between that time and the time that Bella was transforming.
I think the imprinting is going to be the hardest thing to sell. It is just so creepy and if you did not read the book, well it may make Jacob look like a sick man. I really think that part should have been change for the movie. They could have introduce a new female character for Jacob to fall in love with. Maybe someone who was aware of the werewolf and vampire world. I dont know. The imprinting scares me.

not to sound such a fan girl or something, but i really do think that BD parts 1 and 2 will be the best of the series.

Melissa is such a great writer who truely has the books in mind when writing the screenplay. I'm sure the movie well live up to ours and her expectations :)
