Search is still on for Eclipse Director

David Slade: the latest director to be considered by Summit to direct the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Best known for the Josh Hartnett horror flick "30 Days of Night". It has been report that Slade has met with both Meyer and Summit President of Production Erik Feig, but the outlet could also be the victim of Slade's agent trying to publicly pressure the studio to sign him (a service the industry trades have inadvertently provided for years).

Since Chris Weitz is busy with New Moon and Drew Barrymore was the first one to campaigned for the job but without confirmation, Summit conducted a serious search who could bring some edge and even more style to the franchise and Slade is one of a few final candidates.

Question is: Should it be this hard to find a director for the third "Twilight" film?

Sorry if I'm not keeping up with current events, but is there a reason that Hardwicke is not directing Eclipse?

I thought that since Summit offered her another movie that it might be a prelude to her being brought back to do Eclipse and ND.

The Twilight series is from a woman's point of view (Bella's), about absolute love, etc., and I don't think a male can do it justice. The reason that Twilight succeeded in the transition from book to movie is because Hardwicke GOT IT. She was able to portray the reality of the crushing powe of a young woman's first love. Without that, the rest of the movie would have been empty.

Also, I think Hardwicke would have had the good sense to get Italian actors to play the Volturi. It would have immediately shown the profound difference between the American Cullens and other vampires, and the Volturi.
