Stephenie Meyer Talks Midnight Sun & Gory Birth Scene - MTV video

Stephenie Meyer told MTV at the Eclipse premiere last week that she wants the birth scene to be awful, since birth in general is very scary.

“I’d love to have the birth scene be every bit as awful — I know it freaked people out, but for those of us who have been through childbirth a couple times, it is a scary, terrifying experience,” she said. “This is just taking that to an exponential power, and I love going there.”

And she doesn't want to do something with a sword hanging over her head. I completely understand where she's going with this. And I agree that the birth scene should be a shocker because that's the reality of it.

Comment by Spunk Ransomette on July 2, 2010 at 4:27pm: I had a c section and my doctors assistant forgot to clamp a vein and I had to get 4 pints of blood I didn't go through the pain cause I was halfway in la la land but the gore definately was there so I can kinda relate to Bella. My boyfriend was telling me how my uterus was actually out of my body because they were stimulatingit so it would shrink faster. So yeah I can relate. Nice gory little story i though I'd share. I was 20 at the time too so I was only a little older than Bella.
