Publisher Doubleday has high hopes for Erin Morgenstern's debut fall novel, The Night Circus, thanks to bookseller enthusiasm and word that David Heyman, producer of the eight Harry Potter films, is in talks to produce the film version.
Summit Entertainment, known for the Twilight movies based on another best-selling fantasy series, in January bought the rights to Circus, which goes on sale Sept. 13.
Set at an enchanted circus at the turn of the 19th century, The Night Circus tells the story of a competition between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who are pitted against each other by their fathers. Romance, rivalry and plenty of suspense ensue. This is an adult novel, but Callahan says it's appropriate for teens.
* i got a copy of the book yesterday but i haven't started on it yet. Maybe this weekend. I'd have to say i really am getting a Harry Potter - Water For Elephants - Twilight (love against all odds theme) vibe here. But that's just me since i haven't actually read it yet.
