Summit Entertainment Disenfranchises Breaking Dawn Tent City #1 Campers

This is my view of Kellan in Tent City #1

My whole experience in Breaking Dawn Part 1 Tent City so far can best be described as an agonizing sham. Last night was the last straw & I finally had to say something about the inequality going on down there. By pitting fans against each other according to wristband color, references to Hunger Games & Lord of the Flies come to mind. Tent City 1 basically got nothing given to them while Tent City 2 & 3 got multiple perks, including a meet & greet with Breaking Dawn Soundtrack artists, Breaking Dawn Soundtracks, posters & calenders specifically delivered to their tents and extended visits with Kellan Lutz while we in Tent City 1 got nothing. These are just the things we know about.

Only giving things to Tent City 2 & 3, who had black wristbands, while we had purple, was very unfair. It's a form of reverse discrimination. If you had a purple wristband & tried to get into anything that was for black wristbands you were told "No, this is only if you have a black wristband". The only thing I got was one lousy small Jacob poster, which shows how desperate I was that I even took it because I'm Team Edward all the way, but I was actually so happy someone was in Tent City #1 handing out something for the rest of us fans.

Tent City 1 had been camping just as long as those in Tent City 2 & 3 & even longer in some cases. Any newly arriving fans that choose to camp, are put in Tent City 3, which means fans just arriving & walking up to be registered with NO extended wait (up to 12 hours+) are getting all these perks. I personally was in line waiting for my wristband for over 8 hours in full sun with no food & no indication of how long it was going to take & I was number 315. Tent city 1 has just over 500 campers.  Many in Tent City 1 were in line even longer & yet we got NOTHING. I shouldn't really say "nothing" because our area had the closest view of the big screen where the movies were shown & we didn't have to move our chairs like the other tent city's did. All campers received an amazing visit from Stephenie Meyer including a signed paper back copy of Breaking Dawn, and we also had a visit from Tinsel Korey aka Emily.

NONE of us chose our numbers or picked our spots. Wristband numbers were RANDOMLY selected by the game makers aka Summit & their security team. After seeing how fans in Tent City's 2 & 3 were being treated I wistfully asked a Summit rep if I could trade my 300 number wristband in for a 700 number because of all the stuff they were being handed, I just got a chuckle back. While trying to be happy that Summit was providing swag & perks for some campers it was really hard because it was grossly unequal. It makes no sense why these things weren't offered to campers in ALL areas. In years previous ALL campers had equal opportunity/access to swag being handed out. As a fan I felt disenfranchised & discriminated against. I had been there just as long & even longer then some of those in areas 2 & 3. This is my 4th Twilight premiere, I have been there since the beginning & the inequality between the black & purple wristbands was a joke.

We weren't the only campers who noticed the inequality & the camping morale was terrible this year. Even someone who was placed in Tent City #3 acknowledges it was completely random and "wasn't fair for anyone".  Shame on you Summit for treating fans this way.

Cant believe this.. After all the love and support that fans give to the saga, that beneficiates economically to Summit (...) how can they be so shelfish and careless?? Is it wasnt for the amazing books, steph and the incredible cast, you Summit could kiss your good times goodbye.. I hope they have that in mind at least for the last one. Cross fingers for those out there who are lucky to go. I wish i could :(

I agree, I wish I could be at this event, but the way Summit is handling the situation makes me not want to go at all. In a previous post I read that a Summit Employee picked people into different groups like a bully would in gym class (picking people who they thought were 'pretty' was what i think i read.) . Also, the fans who been there longer than the others who are getting more treats is unfair as well. Summit has, and probably always will, disappoint me. They are greedy and only care about money and i believe they do not care about the fans at all. Without Stepheine Meyer and us fans, they would still be an unknown movie company. I never even heard of them until Twilight. I hope things get better soon. I have been following this, and I normally don't comment on here but I am very disappointed and I feel awful for you guys and wish Summit would stop acting like high school bullies. Very immature of them. -shakes head, glares at Summit and poofs.-

Yes, Summit seem to be determined to do all they can to antagonise the very people who pay their wages - us.

I'm so sorry that a die-hard twi fan has to feel like second-string at a major Twilight event. Praying your experience improves and I would encourage you to post this info on the Saga site so that their mods and admins at least have access to this info.

That's unfair, I feel sorry for you :(

That's just not right.  I may not be there, but honestly it's only because I have two small children and my husband is out of town, but reading this just makes me upset for you.  I'm not exactly what you would call a push-over and if it were me I would say something, just as you have but it doesn't look like it's doing you any good.  We as fans deserve to get the same exact treatment, we are what have made this franchise a success.  I sincerely home that tomorrow at the premiere you have a better day.  Tell Rob I love him.  :)
